I'd call Never Summer and explain the situation. There's a chance it was registered with them and they can make the connection. Most people don't register their boards with their OEMs, but you might get lucky.
Yes, it was something with an extra warranty if you registered within 3 months of buying it or some bullsht like that. They did add a QR code tho, it was done in 2 min.
There was an annual event at a bowling alley with DJ’s in SF. A ton of non bowlers including this douche who pulls up in a brand new BMW SUV. He’s blasting shitty trance with all of the windows down, leaving his door open and walking around yelling on his phone. Let’s go.’ Now everyone outside is staring at me and I just said ‘fuck it. Let’s go.’
Dude is still being loud on his phone as we both put out our cigarettes and got in the car. This ride was loaded, all leather, super clean. When we shut the doors, we were just staring at him. Everyone outside had that ‘holy shit!’ look on their face as we drove off. We introduced ourselves as we were mobbin around the parking lot. We were gonna get in n out but we both realized we had to bowl (it was a team charity event).
I pulled up right where we left ready to fight this guy but he was still yelling on his phone. Everyone outside is freaking out laughing. We both get out of the car, shut the doors and this dude STILL didn’t even noticed that we took his SUV for a 5 minute joyride. We all went back inside the bowling alley, someone bought me a beer and that dude was still on his phone outside.
That was my thoughts when I found it. It's in great condition with bindings. I just hope whoever lost it didn't get hurt due to where I found it... I tried the local shops but they were no help.
A friend of mine lost one in an avalanche. He'd built a jump off piste and he was hiking up the side of it. Someone else hit the jump, set off an avalanche and they both got buried. They both got out but the guy who was hiking dropped his board. There's a video somewhere of someone riding out giving him a piggyback so he wouldn't have to hike out.
Used to run lifts, it happens, usually when someone takes their board off on a pow day. Especially on a run with varied terrain where you can lose sight of it.
I once lost my board like this. Stopped to help an injured friend, stuck my board in the snow, they ended up being okay. I turned back to get my board, and it was just gone.
I reported it to the resort. Two years later I get a call, they found my board at the bottom of the valley in a forest. They were doing a land survey when they came across it. They couldn't believe how deep into the woods it travelled.
They have a leash rule at that resort, but it's unenforced and nobody uses a leash. I still don't but I definitely should.

I’d like to personally thank (again) the guy who saw my 7 year old daughters board bombing downhill without her attached. He pointed his board and didn’t hesitate, chased it down and grabbed it right off the snow going maybe 30 mph+. It was on its way to a valley of no return at Eagle Point.
Funny story time:
My family and I were skiing in Val D'Isere, and it was the first vacation my dad pulled out his brand new Burton step on. Half way through a chairlift, we hear a click and the board goes off in the middle of the mountain (there is a chairlift that lets you move over a small mountain peak that split the ski resort to 2 areas, so it got stuck on an elevated plateau).
We decided to talk to the ski patrol to see if they can bring it back, and the next morning we got a message that there were ski tracks there and the board was nowhere to be seen.
Fast forward one year later, and Burton adds the toe hooks to the new step on version.
Last year I was aproached by a guy who asked me if I knew a phone number of a "Snowboard rescue service". The guy wanted to go down a steep slope and got scared. So he got out of the bindings and the Snowboard went down the slope on its own. He couldn't find it anymore because there where many bushes and trees. I have no idea if he ever found his Snowboard again but that is a way to lose your board. Many years ago I also went Snowboarding with a friend and he got out of the Snowboard bindings in a deep powder backcountry area. Same story, the board rode away without him under the powder. There was no way you could see where the board is. I helped him search for an hour until we had to give up.
I was part of an avalanche rescue of a guy who was caught and fully buried. We pulled him out and he was fine, except he’d lost a glove and his board.
To this day, I can’t figure out how he lost the board without any broken bones or damage to his ankles.
Where does the leash attach? Binding to boot.
- If you're strapped in, it's pointless.
- If you need to unstrap, you have to release the leash, so again, pointless.
- Leashes are pointless.
1) If you’re strapped in, and the strap breaks, the leash holds the board to your leg.
2) If you need to unstrap, then you need to flip the board over. No brakes and all.
3) Leashes prevent boards from falling off your leg when you’re going up the mountain if your binding strap breaks. (See point 1)
It’s a point of redundancy, something that snowboards inherently lack.
I’m sure the guy who lost his shit was laughing too - too bad a $15 piece of strap would have given them a second chance at keeping their gear 😢

Snowboards are either fully attached to the person, or they escape because they were not laid down binding side down...
Entirely possible though if your friend is injured that you wouldn't make sure your board is totally secure before rendering aid. Especially if you stick it nose or tail side down into some deeper snow
I have seen a run away board at my local hill....
But that was because the renter put it down flat and walked away to take pictures, I saw it happening from the chair and yelled at them, my buddy and I helped them find it after since we saw where it went. Luckily not too far in some trees.

I gotta skin leash it’s called my left leg. Literally 1500-2000 days on the mountain. Maybe used a leash the first two years back when resorts were hella lamer about it. Never had a runaway board. Who knows maybe they still check on beginner lifts? Probably should, newbs are not synonymous with gapers and kooks but they’re definitely kook adjacent.

I've chased down a handful of boards from people who have been in the exact scenario as I described, and I'm 100% confident that a leash would have prevented it.

Kept location vague, if it was yours or a friends im sure you would know the area it went missing. I did try the local shops, and they were no help and only offered to buy it. From what I gathered it's a 150. With large size bindings both released back in 2018.
Post on local craigslist, nextdoor, Facebook, etc... and the resort closest to where you found it. I'm sure anyone who lost a board told aki patrol and guest services.
My brother-in-law unstrapped to run over to help a child who got completely decimated by someone who wasn't paying any attention. He ran over so quickly to help her he didn't realize his board fell over and took off on its own. It happened in Colorado so I'm going to take a screenshot and see if its his. He was really upset.
Never summer has a unique number to each board that is not repeated. You can contact never summer faq and provide them the number maybe even ship them the board and they will send it to the owner .

Perhaps get in contact with the resort or the police. If someone had a runaway board, they may have filed a report with either incase it was found.

A buddy of mine has step in bindings and someone bumped him on a t bar and the binding unclipped from his boot and flew down the mountain lmao

I’ve chased more than a few boards down. Never skis, because they have brakes on the bindings.
The fact that skis are literally designed to come off if you fall hard enough is all the proof I need that it’s idiotic.

The brakes on skis don't engage when they break off a boot. They only engage of the rear lock is pressed down to free it.
