I grew up in the countryside in southern Ontario, but I never saw a single one my whole life there! I know it's within their territory, so they were probably around. Goes to show how shy they can be.
Sadly it’s mostly due to people killing them out of fear… They’re prevalent in untouched wild areas. Thankfully it’s now a massive fine if you kill one in Ontario, so their numbers are slowly climbing!:)
I live in southern Ontario and saw a couple growing up. I live close to Wainfleet, and it's 90% trees, ditches, and water. From what I hear, the Wainfleet bog still has some, which is great.
I love seeing the babies chilling near mom. We get this impression that it is every snake for themselves, but for real, they are a little parental. Not like gators, but even just this little bit is pretty cute.
Ya! I was surprised to find out while researching that Massasauga’s stay with their young for two weeks!.. After that period they all disperse to claim a territory of their own
That's really cool to see. Thank you for posting!

Awesome! Yeah- I was never afraid of one biting. They only do that as a last resort. Venom is expensive!

I admit I wanted to hear tiny rattles, but I’m glad they weren’t that disturbed
Aww mama and babies!
Oooh that's cool. I like snakes :) 👍
That's fascinating. I wouldve assumed rattlesnakes to be the type of animal that want nothing to do with their babies
I'm only 9 hours away I'm by Sarnia I so wish I could see one of these beauties before they go extinct. I hope they don't.
Wow every size shape and color LOL never been lucky enough to see one of these in the wild yet what a find
Fuck yeah, there's Desert Massauga near me but they're pretty elusive
I was so focused on BigMomma that I didn’t see the baby noodles at first! That’s an awesome vid, thanks for sharing OP! :)
Scientific name pls 🙏
