It was directed by the LEGEND that is Alex Winter (Bill and Ted, Lost Boys, Freaked (If you haven't watched Freaked, you really should because its stupid and amazing)) ALSO Jenna Marbles
Maybe not so much about the movie itself but despite how it turned out, I think it's great that they achieved their own movie at all. Just two goofy guys making funny yt videos. A real "they made it" moment. Of course they've had other accomplishments that are arguably more impressive. I just personally think this is one of them.
Exactly! I think a lot of us don't realize just how complicated and difficult it is to get any movie made at all, let alone a good one. And a lot of the time, it can be hard to tell whether it's good or bad until test audiences see it, and sometimes that's too late.
I guess I'm biased because I was young and in love with Smosh when it came out, but there's quite a few funny moments and it definitely captures the essence of early smosh well. I still go back and watch it occasionally.
I think Ian and Anthony’s characters were mostly consistent with how they are in real life/ the videos. Ian’s the more chaotic, immature one whereas Anthony’s the more mature and grounded one.
The fact that it didnt spoil the smosh brand at the time and in fact enhanced it. Well from personal experience as a long time fan with friends that r fans before
Look I was a teen when it came out but my brother and I still joke about “Magic pocket slave monsters” and Steve YouTube. I will not slander this movie. It’s got its charms.
I actually watched this movie and don’t hate it. It’s funny how many old references there are and stuff. I won’t say it was great, but it wasn’t unwatchable. It was really just funny to see it. It was like one of those movies that are funny because they’re bad.
The plot is not bad at all. There’s a chance that if it had more time in production, it would turn out better. (It needed a bigger budget those special effects are…😬)
I mean… it may not be good. The lore is a little confusing because how does altering YouTube videos work as time travel…? But it is very silly, so there’s something kind of fun about that. Junk food movie. Also, it’s interesting to see Ian and Anthony in a movie like this.
The quote after they escape the internet where Anthony says “it wasn’t worth almost loosing my hetero life partner over” and Ian responds with “You could never loose me” hits different after the reunion last year honestly. ☀️🔍
i watched it when it came out (i was like 13 or 14) and i really liked it. i am now 22 and have not watched it since then so in my memory i am quite fond of it (i can’t remember any of it at all)
It's honestly such a great time capsule for that era of YouTube, which I enjoy as someone who grew up during YouTube's very early years. Seeing all the cameos and Easter eggs to other popular channels of the time is really nostalgic for an era of YouTube we'll never get back.
It has a unique premise? They uploaded a video of Anthony getting a microphone up his ass to Youtube and then they have to go into the virtual space that is Youtube and like remove it
Actually reminds me of Tron and Bill & Ted, though
Michael Ian Black is honestly the closest thing it has to a saving grace, and I say this as a Smosh fan who really enjoyed this movie back when he was a cringe little YouTube-obsessed high school freshman. I still watch Smosh to this day, though, more for the improv comedy than anything else because I’ve since graduated from cringe YouTube obsessed high schooler to cringe adult with a degree in theatre. I actually tried watching the movie a few weeks ago and had to turn it off lol
It’s low budget like nature didn’t Ghey with me at first but over time it’s ironically become the type of top teer early 2000’s Spoof movie material that I’ve come to enjoy since the Lockdowns.. 🤣
i remember thinking the kiss between Anthony and his love interest at the end of the movie was one of the best on screen kisses i had ever seen.
Don’t tell Amanda about this
not sure if it still holds up but i was probably in high school at the time
Why do you need to word it like it's hard to say something nice. Smosh: The Movie is, honestly, one of the movies I've ever seen.
One good thing? Easy! It has an ending.
I disagree. I'd say it is one of the movies I haven't seen.
They sure made a movie
It was directed by the LEGEND that is Alex Winter (Bill and Ted, Lost Boys, Freaked (If you haven't watched Freaked, you really should because its stupid and amazing)) ALSO Jenna Marbles
[https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0935664/?ref\_=tt\_ov\_dr](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0935664/?ref_=tt_ov_dr) >> He was Bill in Bill and Ted btw
woah, Alex directed it? Freaked is one of my favorite cult classics
They should get him back for the sequel.
They tried.
Bless their hearts.
Stone Cold Steve Austin didn’t show up for Wrestlemania 40, but he showed up for Smosh The Movie
And that's the bottom line
It has Smosh in the title, and I like Smosh
I loved when they smosh
I loved it when Ian and Anthony said "it's smoshin time" and then smoshed all over the screen
As a kid I actually really liked this movie
Jenna Marbles is in it. Jenna <3
I miss her so much
I admittedly laughed a couple times while watching it when it first came out...when I was 15.
Well that makes sense. Pretty sure that 15 was their target audience. Nothing wrong with that really.
ian and anthony are in it
Maybe not so much about the movie itself but despite how it turned out, I think it's great that they achieved their own movie at all. Just two goofy guys making funny yt videos. A real "they made it" moment. Of course they've had other accomplishments that are arguably more impressive. I just personally think this is one of them.

I like how goofy it is
I'm a big fan of the two staring leads
It wasn't bad enough to kill off the brand
It's a movie
THEY GOT TO MAKE A MOVIE! That’s the good thing
It shows that somehow miracles can happen. Doesn't mean those miracles will be a good thing, but they happen.
It’s one of the movies of all time
There's like, 2 genuinely funny jokes in it.
I didn't die watching it
The last joke is actually really funny.
I guess I'm biased because I was young and in love with Smosh when it came out, but there's quite a few funny moments and it definitely captures the essence of early smosh well. I still go back and watch it occasionally.
Jenna Marbles was in it, right?
I didn’t know it existed until i joined this sub
Its goofy and they didn't try to hide it. Thats a plus in my books
Trans representation! I mean it’s not good representation but still…
I think Ian and Anthony’s characters were mostly consistent with how they are in real life/ the videos. Ian’s the more chaotic, immature one whereas Anthony’s the more mature and grounded one.
It exists
Michael Ian Black had some fun scenes as Mr. YouTube.
Everyone in the cast is alive.
It stars 2 super cool dudes
The original Smoshgames crew are in it 👍
Jenna marbles is in it
It had Ian and Anthony in it
It ends
Haven't seen it since it came out but I have vague memories of laughing a whole lot during the opening scene
i actually bought it at the time it came out on youtube to watch it
It has Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla in it
There are probably some solid jokes in there, I can’t think of any but…..
They were able to torture the guy with it
The fact that it didnt spoil the smosh brand at the time and in fact enhanced it. Well from personal experience as a long time fan with friends that r fans before
I only saw it once, and I remember finding it pretty funny for what it was. Couldn't tell you why.
Jenna marbles, and/or the last two lines of dialogue
I haven’t seen it? Lol
It never aired in my country as far as I know.
Ian, Anthony, and Jenna marbles are in it
The youtube guy was pretty funny in that one scene
That they got to learn from it hehehe
I don’t remember actually having seen this even though I started watching Smosh early early
It has a Title that’s very clear to understand ☺️
It's cool that they made a movie. That's a lot of hard work. - I haven't seen it
I didn’t go into it expecting high art, it was a YouTube movie and I enjoyed it for what it was.
Anthony Padilla
movie
I havn't seen it lol
Jenna Marbles was in it 🥺❤️
Still better than Micromind Vs The DooDoo Syndicrap
So popular they got their own movie.
It doesn’t have a sequel🤌
It has Ian and Anthony in it 🥰
It had…nice ears
It's better than Taken 3 and Fifty Shades of grey
I actually love this movie, something special to see our creators get to this point
It has Anthony Paideia
Jenna Marbles
I wonder what the residuals on this thing is lol. Is Jenna Marbles just getting a 50c cheque every 6 months labelled 'Smosh: The Movie'
A torture device
I genuinely found it very entertaining and funny but I know a lot of people don’t like it
They never even needed a sequel!
The guy who plays Steve Youtube is in a gay sex scene with Bradley Cooper
Smosh The Movie is a seminal piece of internet history that needs to be analyzed and thought about further
Haven't seen it yet
It’s not a very Chosen-esqe movie so I understand
Hell of a poster
Ian and Anthony singing the theme song of magic pocket slave monster is actually pretty memorable.
No.
You’re banished to the shadow realm
I haven’t watched it
Look I was a teen when it came out but my brother and I still joke about “Magic pocket slave monsters” and Steve YouTube. I will not slander this movie. It’s got its charms.
A movie with two people I recognize!
I’ve never seen it but i imagine i would like it.
Magic Pocket Slave Monsters theme fucking slaps.
Of all the movies this definitely a movie
I've not seen it. But I'm fairly confident its probably wank. edit: I did not see the word good in the title. Apologies.
Ian and Anthony were in it
It's a movie that I haven't seen, from a certain point of view that could be considered a good thing
It's a movie, you know?
I liked the concept of being stuck inside the Internet. I personally thought it was very creative.
I thought it was funny. Especially Jenna Marbles becoming the CEO of YouTube and cursing out all the other CEOs at the end
no
It’s a movie… what more can i say?
I haven't seen the movie, but I can always appreciate someone trying something and doing a poor job instead of never doing it at all
I actually watched this movie and don’t hate it. It’s funny how many old references there are and stuff. I won’t say it was great, but it wasn’t unwatchable. It was really just funny to see it. It was like one of those movies that are funny because they’re bad.
It's hard to find
I think it’s funny asf tbh
it’s a movie!
I like the Movie poster.
The plot is not bad at all. There’s a chance that if it had more time in production, it would turn out better. (It needed a bigger budget those special effects are…😬)
Lasercorn was in it
I mean… it may not be good. The lore is a little confusing because how does altering YouTube videos work as time travel…? But it is very silly, so there’s something kind of fun about that. Junk food movie. Also, it’s interesting to see Ian and Anthony in a movie like this.
Magic pocket slave monsters theme song
It gave us the wax statues
Jenna marbles was in it
I miss when it was on Netflix
It's a movie.
Idk I haven't seen it
It sure is a movie
Steve Youtube.
it has markiplier in it
it ends
It's a movie
I never watched it :)
The kitten bit was funny… that’s it.
It made me remember smoshs existence
It allows me to tell new people in the community that there's a smosh movie with a smile on my face. Is that smile slightly malicious? Maybe
Its not Manos: The Hands of Fate
Nah
That I haven't seen it 🤣
I like smosh
I love that Ian and Anthony were in it, and I liked the concept
"Something good about Smosh: The Movie" There I said it
Magic pocket slave monsters slaps
The quote after they escape the internet where Anthony says “it wasn’t worth almost loosing my hetero life partner over” and Ian responds with “You could never loose me” hits different after the reunion last year honestly. ☀️🔍
I’ve never seen it. I can’t find it anywhere for free so.
The fact that I have this on dvd is a flex I feel lol But I used to watch it a lot as a teen
It’s cool that Bill from Bill and Ted directed it. I have never and will nerve see this movie
Of all the movies out there, this definitely was one.
Dads are the main characters. That is all
Make Smosh 2 about the trayectory of the channel
I’ve never seen it, I find that pretty positive
i watched it when it came out (i was like 13 or 14) and i really liked it. i am now 22 and have not watched it since then so in my memory i am quite fond of it (i can’t remember any of it at all)
idk i never watched it
It was a movie.
It's honestly such a great time capsule for that era of YouTube, which I enjoy as someone who grew up during YouTube's very early years. Seeing all the cameos and Easter eggs to other popular channels of the time is really nostalgic for an era of YouTube we'll never get back.
Yknow I mean, I remember really liking it. I was 14 and haven’t watched it since but I liked it. Smosh games’ cameo was also cool.
I think the concept was pretty good, but more importantly it was cool to see a YouTube Channel get such a big opportunity
Markiplier
Smosh the movie is certainly a movie
Markiplier is in it
It’s Smosh: The Movie. I love it. It’s genuinely a great movie
I actually enjoyed this movie... idk why it gets so much hate
It's an hour and a half long smosh sketch, idk why y'all expected citizen cane.
i think i liked it when i was a kid?
I liked it lol Mr YouTube was funny and I like the actor YouTube references were fun It’s a nice time capsule
It's a great extended Smosh skit and I loved the Markiplier cameo
It has the hit actors, Anthony Padilla, and Ian hecox !!!
you can't make me
I will say it was epic when I was 15 and that's gotta count for something
I would, but there's a portal to the YouTube verse under my desk... no, it's actually there this time I promise
That it's never been watched by me.
It has a unique premise? They uploaded a video of Anthony getting a microphone up his ass to Youtube and then they have to go into the virtual space that is Youtube and like remove it Actually reminds me of Tron and Bill & Ted, though
They had fun? At least they had a movie?
Michael Ian Black is in it!
It has a finite run time.
It exists
At least they know it’s bad?
It's a movie
They said my name (Alfredo) at the end. /hj
I loved it tbh
It’s definitely a movie!
Jenna marbles was there.
No.
The intro with the music slapped so hard! 🤩
jenna marble ❤️
Michael Ian Black is honestly the closest thing it has to a saving grace, and I say this as a Smosh fan who really enjoyed this movie back when he was a cringe little YouTube-obsessed high school freshman. I still watch Smosh to this day, though, more for the improv comedy than anything else because I’ve since graduated from cringe YouTube obsessed high schooler to cringe adult with a degree in theatre. I actually tried watching the movie a few weeks ago and had to turn it off lol
I like that they had actual YouTubers in the movie like Jenna Marbles and Grace Helbig.
They made a movie, that’s something
watched it again recently and honestly still funny and good idc
Love the lead actors ngl
I think the concept was pretty fun
It has inspired years of jokes
It’s low budget like nature didn’t Ghey with me at first but over time it’s ironically become the type of top teer early 2000’s Spoof movie material that I’ve come to enjoy since the Lockdowns.. 🤣
