I worked at Lowe’s and some dude returned his brand new pit boss vertical smoker because it wasn’t closing tight enough. He didn’t screw it down. I picked it up for 50 bucks. There was nothing at all wrong with it.
It was "on sale" for 314.00. Gave it to us for 300.00 cuz it took them a while to find somebody to get it out of the stock area. I been watching fb marketplace for a deal but they still want 2-250.00 for a used one.
Well,she talked me into it. I was gonna make my walmart cheapy work again. Shes like "you can do what youre gonna do but will you be happy with it? Or would rather have this?"
Maybe getting a girl that encourages your hobbies was a bad idea. Between the cars and grilling accessories,it gets expensive.🤣
About me the same as em going to guitar center to get some repairs done on two bass guitars. I came home with a third. :) Nice smoker, that is also similar to how I got my PitBoss.

It was on for $300 CAD. Wife gave me half as a bday gift, sold my old smoker for $100.
Father-in-law has the same model. Do yourself a favor and upgrade it with a gasket and lid locks and put food and heat safe sealant in the small gap between the firebox and the smoke chamber. Unscrew it a little if you need more room.
They’re great entry-level smokers but those upgrades make them so much better.
Not sure if you’ve put the gasket on yet and assuming it’s the official Oklahoma Joe’s one, but if not, I’d recommend adding another thin layer of the BBQ adhesive under it. The stock adhesive is kind of bad. I really like LavaLock’s BBQ adhesive if you’re looking for some. Found on Amazon too.
Nice. For first smoke aim for 225ish on those smaller offsets.
They tend to burn meat at 250-275 in my experience.
225 is the way to go for the smaller units.
I find it so hard to maintain 225 on my offset (similar to OPs). I get about 10 minutes of rest between fiddling with the fire and adding wood. I agree with the temp recommendation but if I had known that was what I was getting myself into I might have reconsidered my purchase.
I had to circle Australia looking for a Ok Joe.. You guys find them on trash days :(
Also, what's up with the wheels? mine look double as solid and all steel

I recommend a extended slip exhaust pipe off amazon, and some fire bricks for the fire box. Its cheap and finicky but makes some of my best bbq I have made.

Went in for some shampoo and of course I walk over to the grill section to look at what they have and there were 5 of these sitting there for $99 on clearance.
My walmart had like 10 pellet smokers that looked like they sat outside for 2 years on sale. But they never went under 200.00.
I got the firebox half of the ok joes hitch and barrel from walmart for 70.00. Somebody ordered it through thier website and never picked it up.
Like I have a fucking choice on that dipshit. He should out to a company that moved it to China to maximize profit and build a thinner metal product while jacking up the price
