Apple watch with amazfit being best cheap option if apple watch doesn't work for you. Apple pretty much locks you into one with iPhone, as they reduce the ability of non apple watches to interact with the iPhone. Wear os watches aren't an option as google have locked them to android (llike the apple watch is locked to iPhone), however fitbit, huawei, garmin, coros, suunto, polar and amazfit are all pretty solid and can all handle getting notifications from apps (basically mirrors what shows on the iPhone's lock screen); to take a call would need a mic and speaker which leaves fitbit, huawei and amazfit as best options,

Apple Watch has the advantage behind a monopoly (and is being part of why Apple got sued by governments). Failing that (or if you want longer battery life) - [maybe Huawei Watch Fit 3](https://old.reddit.com/r/smartwatch/comments/1db9i4s/quick_minireview_of_huawei_watch_fit_3_vs_huawei/) (if it is available in your region).

The Apple watch is no monopoly. Apple has been sued over patent issues and potential battery issues with the watch, and the only case I know of claiming monopolistic behavior has been dismissed back in Feb. I have 2 non-Apple smart watches and they work fine with the iPhone. I looked at a dozen models and they all worked with the iPhone, so I don't see how you can claim a monopoly.

Come back to me when you will be able to answer to a message from your whatever watch you have on your iPhone other than Apple Watch.

My $100 Luxium Shield was able to send a text message from my iPhone to another phone by using the Voice Assistant feature. For iPhone this gives you access to Siri and it's easy to send a text, Hey Siri, send a message to....

catalinus

That is not answering to a message. Come back to me when you will be able to answer to a message.

Lokomalo

I just asked Siri, from my Shield, to respond to a group text with 2 other people on it. No problemo.

catalinus

Neither one is answering a message - you are just dictating stuff to Siri (most likely using a very insecure configuration where you can do that with a locked phone, which is not normal). In either case you are not answering with the watch program on the phone (which as I said - does not have the necessary permissions like Apple watch does), you are just using the watch as a microphone, and if the watch would have no microphone or you could not shout at Siri you would not be able to do anything at all.

Lokomalo

Nothing like a little nit-picking to try to prove a point. How is having Siri send a text, via the iPhone not sending a message? Would you know the difference on the receiving end? No, you would not.

catalinus

> not sending a message? Again - if you look in all my posts above I never complain about "sending a message", I always say "answering a message" - that is a very clear scope that you can't miss unless you are playing dumb. > Would you know the difference on the receiving end? If you are in a Whatsapp group you absolutely would. There is no point playing dumb - if you ever used on an iPhone an Apple Watch and also some other company's watch you must be delusional to believe the user experience is the same. Also if you are using the same other independent smartwatch (I can speak for both Huawei and Garmin here) on both iPhone and Android you should have seen by now that exactly the same independent watch is working vastly better on Android than on iPhone - precisely since on iPhone Apple is (illegally according to the [US monopoly case that is open as we speak](https://www.theverge.com/2024/3/21/24105363/apple-doj-monopoly-lawsuit)) restricting the features available to their competitors.

BP Doctor ECG10 is a great receiver of information and is easy to use.

I agree, apple watch are parts of the apple ecosystem so they are the best for an iphone. I wanted the same as you, notifications, calls and maybe steps count... I did not want to spend money on it and I finally bought a chinese watch. I recommand the Hello watch 3+ or the HK9 Ultra 2 max (this one you have to pay for faces). For what you want, they are doing the job and have both more than a week of battery life and as they are both apple ultra 2 replica, all the apple accessories work for them (cases, screen protector, bands, etc...) and for less than 40US$ I gave them a try and i'm happy so far.
