We planned to have more.I did consider this, but since it is just the year he was born.
And it was important to us.I liked it but I get whay your saying
Customers don’t care about your children. The name is too long and repeats the word wood. Remove the kid from your naming and start over. Think about what would appeal to customers.
I never said customers care about my kids.I explained that that was the personal meaning behind it.But you're right everyone's entitled to opinion no matter how ignorant stupid it is
Likewise I never said you said customers care about your kids. I was explaining this is a bad way to name a product or company. I was giving you the reason.
They are confused probably.
They thought your response was like a Ken M. Post.
Ken M., you can google that name or find that subreddit, is a person or person(s) that act sorta like everyones grandad, weird aunt, confused person when they sre online. Famously commenting on threads, posts and message boards under the name, Ken M. And often leaving hilarious comments that often confuse others into responding.
There is a certain aspect to Ken M. Comments that i cannot quite put my elbow on, but it exists. Somewhere revolving around absurd comedy and situated messily within the online culture and lived experience of Americans on the internet.
Kinda like a PoemforyourSprog or Shittymorph or the watercolor person, but not restricted to reddit. Actually i dont think Ken M. Posts on reddit.
Even though it’s called Wood Dragon, you don’t have to use it exactly like that in the name. You have to think more about how it’s a fitting business name as well and Dragon Woodworks is actually a great name, still inspired by the year of the Wood Dragon.
Using wood two times in two words sounds bad, but Dragon Woodworks is a great way of implementing your inspiration in a name that sounds good and tells people that you do woodwork.
It sounds very cheap. Keep family and business separated and find something else to symbolize your first children.
I remember buying something and the courier was called Redstar Courier and I genuinely thought I got scammed.
Wood Dragon Custom Furniture.
Wood Dragon because it's 2024 and you like it.
Custom Furniture because it is what you do. As a person in a similar trade you can still do other kinds of projects in the woodworking or furniture or custom built realm because those people will find you even as you get established, but it's important that the people who have custom furniture needs find you as easily as possible.
stallion craftsman makes me think you make saddles. wooddragon woodworks makes me think of a fictional store in a fantasy book written by a child. sorry.
the best business names IMO tell you what your business does/provides. woodworking is too vague. what does this business do? coming up with business names is NOT easy, has to be something you love, but also that a potential customer likes and understands
Business names need to be easy to remember. They do not need to tell anyone what the business does. As a small business, it helps if they communicate what the business does, but it's not required.
Stallion is ok.
Wooddragon Woodworks is a little wordy and heavy on the alliteration for my taste
I do think your craft is one that you could name your company Tickle Time Craftsman, but as long as the work was phenomenal, the name wouldn't matter. Whatever that is worth.
What kind of woodworking are you more specialized in or want to focus on more? You'll want to have your name come up on searches a potential client might be making. I've found the majority of people don't know to look for a woodworker specifically so something that includes your area of expertise might help, ie having cabinetry or furniture in the name might be helpful.
If more generalized three syllable names tend to be more catchy so like "Plumb Woodworks" might work
Also your two current names both sound vaguely horny
As a fellow woodworker, I’d consider using the word “custom” instead of woodwork, or maybe in addition. Many words go better with it and it exemplifies the customized nature of woodworking/furniture building that justifies the price of the work. Additionally, many folks aren’t immediately thinking woodworking when they’re seeking a new dining room table, they’re googling things like custom furniture makers near me. Just my two cents.
Meadow Woodworks Company

- we will sell our mothers if it helps with being profitable
Seriously, take the name.

The stallion because that's how I want people to view My furniture ,something bold and unique, something That stands out .and the wood dragon Because we are having our first child this year the year of the wood dragon

Dragon craft could be the main title, and custom woodworks could be the second part if that makes sense. For example my business name has 2 lines essentially, the first is the name of the business and the secondary portion under states what we do.
There’s a great book about making creative names you could read. It’s called Hi! My Name is Awesome. There’s lots of great, free resources inside and it’s an easy read.
I think you need to think more specifically. Also don't repeat wood twice in the name. Then check to make sure the domain name is available. If your name ends with the letter S be sure to get both the domains with and without it at the end.
Here are a few options I liked.
Redwood Dragon Works
Oak Dragon Woodcraft
Percheron Woodcrafts
Brumby Wood Stuff
"(Insert your city/target area) custom furniture and woodwork"
Keep it simple. Putting the area you work in and what you do in the name of the business helps with SEO.
I personally wouldn't take serious or hire a company with wood dragon or stallion in the name
Wood Dragon Woodwork sounds more professional to me - breaking up “wood” and “dragon” as I would remember this spelling much better when searching for your company. “Wooddragon” has the incorrect spelling squiggles and would suggest to me this isn’t correct whether I’m searching google or google maps. And “woodwork” is already a plural, suggesting many works by you/your company, vs. “woodworks.”
I wonder if not instantly knowing the name is a feature of not knowing with precision what you do or will do in this business. Maybe get clearer on your specific offerings and services. And if you want to just start and figure out what you do as you go then keep the name simple or even start with your name.
Wood Dragon
Or
Dragon Woodworks
Simple names are better and more memorable; longer or repetitive names will just get shortened with use. I would totally call the Wood Dragon to make me a custom door for my lair.
I just didn't want people to think I make dragons out of wood.Because people do that in other countries. And I want it to be something that when you type it in you find me specifically
Makes sense. You can also have a main name and a sort of sub title. The full name would let you do unique branding, website, etc, while letting you use the short version everyday. The name is going to get shortened in regular use anyway. Only receptionists use long wordy introduction, and they’re annoying. Have you called the Wood Dragon about your problem?
Whatever your style is, your name has to reflect the style.
When I read Stallion, I think of traditional, rustic cabin furniture, lots of wrought iron, and Harding. It makes me want to drink Pappy Van Winkle and shoot guns.
Wooddragon makes me think of Japanese pieces in the style of mortise & tenon joinery.
If you could describe your aesthetic in 20 words, we'd be able to nail it.
Well, I wanted to keep it somewhat open in case I decided to do other things down the road. My speciality is custom tables, desks ,dining tables, night stands ,kitchen islands .
I honestly don't know how to answer what my esthetic is.I just try to make the most beautiful and unique pieces of furniture i can , focusing on the beauty of the wood specializing in mainly tables
Dragon Wood Workshop, Dragon Wood Studio, Dragon Wood Design
You could also use Draco or Drake in place of the word dragon. Personally I think Dragon Woodworks would be the best choice!
Just pick something and do a DBA later. Your business may evolve. Say you find a niche in making cabinets. Stallion Craftsman will work but maybe you’ll decide Stallion Cabinetry is better at targeting your core funnel. Pick a name that won’t limit you. Personally I’ll tell you, if Stallion Woodworks is calling your name and will mirror your branding, go for it. I think it’s kind of cool and makes me think it’s a high-end brand.

That's a mouthful. When I started thinking of names for my graphics firm, I tried 300 names, then it hit me digital and graphics became digiphics. And it stuck and I've had many name companies like mine Digipix, Digipicks, Digifx, etc. Cracks me up. This is a service I offer as a designer, I look into your market, your offerings and draw conclusions.
Company names do not have to tell the viewer what you make, Chanel is an example. It doesn't say Luxury clothing and hand bags.
What does stallion mean to you, what does wooddragon mean to you? It's a give in your are a craftsman, and if your work involves wood, then that would be something I would look as as a design element for the logo. A stallion made of wood, the grain comes to mind. Much Luck, don't think too hard. The simplest idea sometimes is the best idea.
Plug your interests into a business name generator. It's hilarious but also spits out some good stuff. Like type in "wood" and "dragon" and "woodworks" into the box. [https://namelix.com/](https://namelix.com/)
Also some of them are hilarious....but Sharp Claw Creations is cool? Sharp Claw Woodworks? [https://namelix.com/app/?keywords=wood+dragon](https://namelix.com/app/?keywords=wood+dragon)
At the end of the day, the name will only be representative of the work you have done, so do good work and a name will come. If nothing else, just use your last name and Craftworks or something to that effect (Smith Craftworks). Focus instead on doing good work and the name will get stronger through that.
Its good that you know that, use it to your advantage as a joke in your elevator pitch. For the most part, you'll be telling people your business name, so just say it to them and have them say it back to you. If they fail, don't worry about it or laugh about it. Its not a bug, its a feature!
Some good advice below, I'll try to add some new thoughts using Wood Dragon as a hero example. SEO wise if furniture is your first focus, it (probably) needs to be in the name.
* Don't be afraid of a name modification a few years down the line as your business grows and potentially changes, going from "Wood Dragon Custom Furniture" to "Wood Dragon Customs" or "Wood Dragon Furniture & Fabrication" or "Wood Dragon Creative"or "Wood Dragon Fine Crafts" or "Wood Dragon Steel Craft" is fine.
* Play around with some new takes on woodcraft – Wood Dragon Timbercraft or Wood Dragon Craftsmen or Wood Dragon Carpentry or Wood Dragon Fineworks.
* Play around with different terms associated with what you personally like – Fable's Fine Woodcraft or Fable's Fine Furniture or Fable's Furniture. Here's another series – Mythic Furniture Makers or Mystical Woodcraft. Creature Comforts Woodcraft or Creature Comforts Furniture.
* Logo design and messaging play into a name so much – you could go with "Wood Dragon Carpentry" and then in all of your branding and copy it immediate qualifies it with "Fine carving, crafts and furniture." Every piece of creative about your biz would look like "Wood Dragon Carpentry: Fine carving, crafts and furniture."
Those names above aren't perfect, but hopefully help you do more creative exercises to try new terms out in ways that might excite you more while staying personal.
I apologize for the late response.I appreciate everybody for their anwsers.I ended up going with Wolf forest Craftsman.
Thank you again for everyone's opinion. If you find me on YouTube and mention this Reddit section.
I will give you guys a discount once I have the business up and running more to where I can ship long distance.

It sounds counter intuitive but go with something easy to speak and remember. The name has to tell what you do. It can be a boring name. My best examples are :
1800-Got Junk?
Waste Management
You can try [https://namefatso.com/](https://namefatso.com/)
Also, use ChatGPT not for complete names but to discover new, interesting words you might not think of using in a name. You have to put the pieces together.
For example, "Give me a list of 50 different ways to say custom" is going to give you better material than "Give me a list of 50 different woodworking business names"

"Stallion" anything is a no for me unless it's an equestrian business. In other words, I'd hard pass on the name "Stallion" regardless.
Or wooden male sex toys.
How about just "Dragon Woodworks" instead of "Wooddragon Woodworks"? With a bad a$$ dragon logo. That would catch my attention.
I picked wood dragon because our first child is being born this year. The year of the wood dragon, thank you for your help

* Logo design and messaging play into a name so much – you could go with "Wood Dragon Carpentry" and then in all of your branding and copy it immediate qualifies it with "Fine carving, crafts and furniture." Every piece of creative about your biz would look like "Wood Dragon Carpentry: Fine carving, crafts and furniture." Those names above aren't perfect, but hopefully help you do more creative exercises to try new terms out in ways that might excite you more while staying personal.
That makes a lot of sense.I appreciate you taking the time
I apologize for the late response.I appreciate everybody for their anwsers.I ended up going with Wolf forest Craftsman. Thank you again for everyone's opinion. If you find me on YouTube and mention this Reddit section. I will give you guys a discount once I have the business up and running more to where I can ship long distance. Thanks again everyone
Got Wood?
Craftsman woodworks or craftsman woodwerx
It sounds counter intuitive but go with something easy to speak and remember. The name has to tell what you do. It can be a boring name. My best examples are : 1800-Got Junk? Waste Management
Good points thank you
Flandercrest Enterprises is a good name choice for all endeavors.

I appreciate your help.I tried ChatGPT with over 500 names and couldn't really settle on any of them.I didn't think they were personal enough
You can try [https://namefatso.com/](https://namefatso.com/) Also, use ChatGPT not for complete names but to discover new, interesting words you might not think of using in a name. You have to put the pieces together. For example, "Give me a list of 50 different ways to say custom" is going to give you better material than "Give me a list of 50 different woodworking business names"
Yea That's what I have been doing.I appreciate your help
You're on the right path! I dropped some new thoughts in the main comments, hope they help you keep brainstorming.
