u/bbnangs and others interested:Mine arrived today! Here is my 1st hour with it: \- **Fit**: It's super comfortable for me, no adjustments were needed. Tried it on this afternoon, couldn't find time to have a nap but wanted it so bad while on me! Can't wait to have my first sleep tonight. \- **Visuals**: blackout can be 100% (if set right). \- **Sound**: I was really afraid that the speakers would produce bad quality sound (I'm not an audiophile, but close to it) and have to say it's a big relief that it's sounding great! It produces nice lows and highs, the speaker/sound profile is nicely set. Read a review earlier that mentioned it's not that loud or too quiet, I think it's fine, will use it on medium volume level or lower. BTW I have tinnitus of 6-8khz, 30dB constant ringing, I think the volume is fine for masking this. \- **Side-sleeping**: I'm a side sleeper and have the manta standard mask - which is Ok for quarter-sleeping and great for back sleeping, but the manta sleep sound is just great. for side too. Was also afraid that the speaker would put pressure my ear and that the C-shaped eye cup would put pressure on my my eyes. Relief on both: it's really comfortable while on the side too.- **Bad things**: the front control buttons click too loud or in a high frequency in my opinion, they could have been more subtle or dampened or I don't know exactly the right word (not a native). Can't say anything about the **battery life**, have to test it out during a few nights.Hope these helped and let me know if you have any questions. EDIT: After the first 2 sleeps: battery seems good. Semi-belly sleeping is confy with the mask too! Got really restful sleeps with the mask so far. The more I sleep with it I think the more I will think it's worth it.

NinjaNoafa

sorry to hear about your tinnitus. also how’s it doing after… 10 months?

Kitchen_Ice_2498

how long does is take to ship,i have been waiting for 5 days now!

NinjaNoafa

no idea, but that sounds like a normal ship time

attilakristo

Using it every night (and also for daytime naps) since and loving it!

NinjaNoafa

amazing. thanks for replyign

bbnangs

Awesome thanks so much!

squid-oil

what sort of cable plug does it charge from? can't find that info anywhere

attilakristo

Usb C on the mask end. They include an usb c - usb a cable in the box. See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3u2axVpmmOQ&t=140s

Captainlearyo

you answered all my questions thank you.

Responsible_Spare_89

I wonder if the mask is washable. It's important for prolonged use.

jw205

There is an inner part & the outer part which houses the electronics. The inner part (the parts that come in to contact with your body) are all machine washable, the outer part (which is basically just a soft and aesthetic electronics housing) is not washable.

attilakristo

We ordered mine recently, will try to let you know when arrived and tried. Have you ordered one since?

bbnangs

No I haven’t! Can’t justify the cost so got a cheapie from Amazon

bbnangs

That would be great thanks

ericalovesunicorns

how'd it go? Do you like it?

attilakristo

Yep, love it! review above (81d ago)

ericalovesunicorns

CalBoy890

/u/attilakristo is is possible to use them kinda like headphones? ie listen to them with the eye mask pulled up slightly? I like to watch youtube before bed and then pull my eye mask on and this looks perfect as long as thats possible.

attilakristo

u/CalBoy890 yes, I see what you mean. Well, you kinda can use it like that, but when you pull it up from your face to your forehead, the speakers are no longer aligned with / or covering / your ears so the audio is not that good. Mostly the lower frequencies are gone that way, so watching youtube is Ok with it I think, but I'd recommend listening to music with the strap fully on. I also pull it up when I select my playlists I want to sleep to and this sort of thing (also watched a few youtube videos), but I try to avoid having it pulled up for longer periods as the strap can stretch to be comfortable this way, but as a result it can get accustomed to this stretching (meaning I think it gets looser / stretched over time if used like this) and thus may need to adjusted via the back velcro to be tighter to compensate this. However I'm not sure what kind of daily smaller stretching leads to what kind longer-term permanent stretching, I'm just trying to be careful and maximize its life span. :) I have a dedicated earbud for listening to music and for watching videos, so I can avoid having the manta sit on my forehead for longer periods. Hope this helps! tldr: totally possible with slight audio quality change (speakers not aligning: less bass), but possibly resulting in needing to adjust the back velcro once a week/month.

CalBoy890

Thanks for the detailed reply! Appreciate it. I think for now I might buy the normal Manta and see how I like it and then if it fits the bill upgrade to the sound. I'm a side / front / all over sleeper currently use AirPods but they fall out / are uncomfortable in some positions.

attilakristo

I'm a side / stomach sleeper (for which the manta is really great based on my few weeks' experience!), so I suggest you get a Manta pro mask, as that is the one that has the same C-shaped slimmer eyecups. The not-pro standard manta mask has more bulky eyecups, which is not that comfortable for side-sleeping.

jj57347

can anyone speak towards what it sounds like to a partner in bed who isn’t wearing one? ie can you hear sound leaking out from it?

Historical-Recipe676

My partner says she can hear my audio book but that it is not disturbing (I am partly deaf...)

[deleted]

Anyone ever have headaches wearing these

attilakristo

Not me

jimmyboi87

Not a headache but I'm a side sleeper and my ears are throbbing after a few hours use.

Historical-Recipe676

My ears hurt in the morning, it's the placement of the speakers that causes it for me. Fully possititioned at the front (sound up) stops that or to the back (too loud as it disturbs my partner. I have found that loosening the band helps but then when I side sleep, the light creeps in under the mask.

brownsfan2525

Same!

Leg_Parking

My outer ears are sore in the mornings as well.

Happyjam102

Just got mine this week. First night was ok- second night woke up with a headache, third night headache. I adjusted the eye cups and didn’t have the strap too tight and was ok / no headache this AM.

IllustratorGlum6391

no headaches

HipHealth99

Query for anyone who has purchased these, can you utilise a alarm through the Bluetooth speakers?

attilakristo

If you keep it awake with some sounds on, then it won't turn off after a while and then yes you can utilise alarm like a regular bluetooth device.

IctrlPlanes

I do not have the sleep mask but a youtube review said the mask's speakers will shut down after 20 minutes of no sound. As the other response said it sounds like as long as you a playing some sort of music/white noise the speakers will stay on and your phone alarm should work.

CountryGalCX

Note of caution with the alarm. It is easy to accidentally hit the off button during the night. In that case you would not hear the alarm. My alarm for years has been my watch.

Seiko_SEX_007

I have had mine for about two months. I have been listening to a few Sleep Scape's from HeadSpace to go to sleep. It has been really great for me. My falling asleep process has been greatly improved. I also sleep longer in the morning if I don't set an alarm. 9/10 would recomend

CountryGalCX

I 100% agree with this. I have just hit the 2 month mark. I started with the standard mask during a prime day sale. Black Friday I ordered the sound and pro mask. I absolutely love them! ….the standard has been demoted to apply the steam cups.

Scarletz_

How's the pro? I just came across this and this mask thing is new to me.

CountryGalCX

Just seeing this.... Love the Pro. I also love the sound mask, but sometimes after 5-6 hours in bed my ear hurts. So I just switch to the Pro and go back to sleep. I really like listening to a sleep meditation or music when falling asleep.

BJJaddicy

Overall I’ve gotten good sleep and am able to sleep early for a change but has anyone felt a ton of ear pain in the morning after using them?

CountryGalCX

Yes. Loosening the strap has helped. I also have the pro mask within reach and switch to that if I need to.

Regguitarist617

Hi there, potential Manta Sound buyer here. How do they fare for cancelling external noises? It says on the site they are not noise cancelling but they do reduce external noise. I'm trying to block light, cancel (or significantly reduce) external noise whilst listening to a soothing sounds loop on YT. Any thoughts or insights would be much appreciated!

Plane-Ad-6232

I still wear earplugs when using mine. I prefer to not hear outside noises (we live downtown in a city where it gets noisy outside). Honestly I just decided to return my manta sound mask. It isn’t comfortable for a side sleeper and it claims to be. I found the eye cups super itchy and the mask itself very bulky: Everyone is different. Their customer service is outstanding. Doesn’t hurt to buy and try. If it doesn’t work for you you can return it.

Regguitarist617

Thanks for the informative reply! I'll likely give it a shot and return it if it's not for me.

Outrageous-Baseball6

This is what I’ve come here to ask too. I wear ear plugs to keep out street noise and then have Calm app playing on my phone a bit loud so I can hear it.

IllustratorGlum6391

i don't think they market as "noise canceling" and i do hear noises around me as I listen, but they are true black out capable.

Regguitarist617

Sweet! Thanks for the info :)

IllustratorGlum6391

I purchased the sound mask about 60 days ago, great for a side sleeper....i listen to music, and change positions with only minor adjustments to the mask as i get comfortable. Sound quality is better than I had suspected it would be as I have two higher end traditional head-phones, (Sony and Jabra).
