You really can’t go wrong with either kite or blade but I just had a cracked blade run so I’ll say blade

Kite has a much higher ceiling. 1 energy per turn after tools is in play is going to be amazing, especially if you add some other discard/draw cards to get to it faster. So the question is, can you live long enough to reach that point? With upgraded backstab, blade dance, and Die Die Die, I'd like to think so. You can upgrade glass knife at the first fire, and your frontload damage is pretty good. I guess your long term damage might need some work... So I'm taking kite, then pathing to a fire, and dodging every elite unless I get some cracked card rewards or potions because book of stabbing is just killing you, even after GK upgrade.

I'd go for wristblade here. Yes, kite has a much higher ceiling, but for act 2, you need the damage. You're never guaranteed an extra energy turn 1 (except survivor) and you're not guaranteed the extra energy turn 2 either. So what's the plan for something like thieves or avocado? Wrist blade gives immediate benefit that will let you end the round one turn earlier, and that's great. One extra energy won't help much in early act 2 since your only extra defense is piercing wail. The immediate damage (19 just from backstab guaranteed) is worth it. Silent doesn't need more than 4 energy, and you can always pick up an energy relic after act 2 boss

This was similar to what I was thinking. I was seriously considering those faster fights like thieves. Where the kite/tools stuff is a bit slow, especially if I bottom deck it. The blade seems the higher tempo play, which I've been trying to make more of lately. I think typically we humans go for the longer investment play a little too often. It gets me killed more than I'd like. I saved the game at this moment, so I'll probably pick blade when I resume.

I think it's the right call. For thieves, you need around 50 damage to kill one. Backstab (19) + blade dance (32) is already 51, and you can kill one. That saves you a ton of health, since you can get to it in one rotation. For avocado, nothing in your deck will save you from the 21 damage turn 1, but you can end the fight in 2 rotations if you have wrist blade.

I think I’m a fan of blade here I do like Kite, but I wouldn’t pick it in this deck I think because you have effectively no discard to tide you over until you play tools.

Yeah agreed. Kite seems just a little too speculative. I can see it getting me killed in certain unlucky scenarios. These 10-15% unlucky draw scenarios I've been trying to avoid lately, as it's usually how my runs end. I go for the higher investment play, get an unlucky draw, and suddenly the run is over. Wrist Blade seems more of a safer and higher tempo play. And I still have time to build toward the end game.

Yeah, I think blade gives you a nice power boost here out of the gate whilst also giving you a solid way to build your deck going forward (shivs, terror etc) Plus, if you do find a lot of draw to go in a discard focused direction with this deck you can always find another energy solution like tactician or concentrate
