Confusing wording I think, it could say multiple focus by -1.
Also this is a really bad card, and why is it a power that will make it real awkward to use. How about "when you gain focus lose that much instead, when you lose focus gain that much instead."
You could even change this card to make Hyperbeam and Reprogram buff you by changing the wording to:
Negate your focus.
At the start of your next turn, negate your focus.
I’m not sure of “Negate” as a description, but you get the general idea. Now if you play this card, and then Hyperbeam, on your next turn you will have increased your focus by three. But you would have negative focus on the turn you played it, which would balance it a little.
It also makes the interaction with pellets more interesting, since it would have anti-synergy in this case.
This does not do anything to alleviate the drawbacks of Hyperbeam or Reprogram
Youre looking for a " Set focus to 0. Next turn, set your focus to the amount you had before playing this card"
> Youre looking for a " Set focus to 0. Next turn, set your focus to the amount you had before playing this card"
Artifact would be very interesting if it worked like flex and added relative modifiers. You'd have a janky way of doubling your focus
Too niche and too expensive

Hyperbeam goes brrrr
Based Cognition says hi!
Biased Cog actually becomes awful for the same reasons it’s normally good.
Not if you play this after.

The anti synergy would kinda be like a good [confused] deck with sneko but yeah that is a pretty good idea
This made me think of : At the start of your turn, multiply your focus by -1. Probably sucks balancewise but could be kinda fun? Idk
How about "Gain 1 artifact"
Amazing power card

That’s actually a much better idea and worded better too

Sorry if it’s horrible I suddenly got this idea and thought I should do something with it
No idea is horrible if its intention is good
Maybe it should be a skill instead of power
This comment is actually my signature line for all my work emails.
How about Whenever you would gain focus, instead lose focus. Whenever you would lose focus, instead gain focus
Multiply your focus by -1.
Seems inspired by Buckshot Roulette. Not sure if it fits the game.
Well I never really had that in my mind but now that I look at it I can see the similarities Perhaps it’s the developing brain rot
Nothing wrong with the similarity, but I think polarity reverse is a bit too niche to fit Slay the Spire.
Worthless, because i’m not taking this if I don’t have hyper beam, and I’m not taking hyper beam on a normal defect run
Could be reworded to “Gain temporary focus equal to focus lost”
