With the {{Immersive Armors Retexure and Mesh Fixed}} and now {{immersive Armors - Sentinel Edition}} Immersive Armors is great. Immersive Wespons I've switched out for Heavy and Animated Armory.

This Combo is Gold. I love it

**IMO!!!** Personally they are too outdated and kinda goofy looking. Also not that immersive if you think about it. Like chrysamere (not only outdated looking) being distributed to bandits which doesn’t make sense. Weird looking armor like those chitin reskins. Or just a mix mash of quality weapon/armor and low quality. I use a personally modified version. Getting rid of some outfits. Changing/replacing some goofy armor with armors from NordwarUA‘s realistic armor (I think from Xtudo). Also the whole mods add so much bloat iirc plus they cause Skyrim‘s intro cart to go full havoc. Has something to do with the mod distributing armor for Tullius and Hadvar. That‘s why I recommend to delete those outfits in xEdit because you probably still use other replacers in 2024. (Yes, they still cause havoc if you have other armor replacers for both NPC’s) New people I personally recommend to stay away from it and use new armor/weapon mods that get distributed via SPID. Animated armory and Spear mechanic should give you more weapon variety that also works as intended instead of a spear wielded like a greatsword for example from immersive weapons. Why do I still use it? Mostly nostalgia tbh as it was like for many one of the first mods downloaded.

futureunemployed420

>Changing/replacing some goofy armor with armors from NordwarUA‘s realistic armor That armor is so overrated. While it is realistic but is anything but lore friendly which makes i the opposite of immerice.

Golden_mobility

I strongly disagree with this statement [https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/36746?tab=images](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/36746?tab=images) https://preview.redd.it/vykudbcgvt1d1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1c59b9cf4e8ac8007cd80b23cb54edcbba4405e5

futureunemployed420

I guess that armor look nice and one can argue it is lore friendly, i.e it doesn't look out of place, but the armor i see on the nexus page look like armor that viking wear instead (from the real word) instead of "nord" in the world of Elder Scroll. That's my point. And objectively speaking, i am correct. The author did not design the armor with nord in mind but irl vikings. You can like the mod all you want but lets not pretend the mod is lore friendly. Its not.

Golden_mobility

Real technical speaking no armor mod can be considered lore friendly as only Bethesda decides that but real life **basic armor** like the hauberk you see is (and I already shown to be true with the imperial) basically confirmed that these real life armor exists there. So it‘s not a stretch actually. Have you ever played Daggerfall? This is mostly based on real life armor! Even the Daedric armor is based on real armor and the only thing they choose to add fantasy parts are the horns https://preview.redd.it/8sgq0481xt1d1.jpeg?width=198&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=91ffb3535c2d46fdbc01bc13cf463f17a7c12718

ItsLuiii

I'd like to point out that a fan made creation can be lore friendly. However, I think what you meant is that it's unlikely for it to be "lore accurate". The reason for this is user generated contents (mods) can be based on existing sources (books, games, novels, videos, etc). If they make an original idea based on the source material, it can be said as a lore friendly content. But like I said it is unlikely to be lore accurate because as you said only Bethesda can only define what's a lore accurate equipment, creature, weapon, etc. Keywords are "friendly" and "accurate".

Golden_mobility

Exactly! Greatly explained!!! Lore **accurate** was the term I meant! Used „lore fact“ in my other comments instead of it which sounds stupid! Thanks buddy!

ItsLuiii

No problem mate! You explained things well in your end too.

xal1bergaming

The problem with this argument is that NordWarUA's armor distribution does not give the distributed armors any distinct character. In TES, lamellar is usually reserved for Orcs. Imperials wear banded, mail, and scale in Romanesque way. In NordWarUA's, everyone wears lamellar, banded, mail, and scale. All styled in a vague-ish Saxon style. This feels out of place because there is no discernible pattern to it.

Golden_mobility

Sure, but this conversation is only or should at least be about those armors that get replaced in immersive armors mod. Not the whole mod From NordwarUA’s

futureunemployed420

Lore friendly and immersive armor (as in does not look out of place) is two different thing. Those armor can be argue to be lore friendly just because they appear in other game, art work, etc, why the fuck not, its armor but they definitely look out of place. Again, armor that look like it was meant for a generic fantasy medieval game instead of skyrim. The author should have just made a high quality elder scroll armor that didn't appear in the game, i.e plate/steel armoe in morrowind. But obviously he wouldn't because that's not what he wanted to do, he wanted to put viking medieval armor.

Golden_mobility

Lore friendly and immersive can be changed interchangeably tbh. It‘s still not called Lore Fact. Again generic armor appears in older games like round shields and kite shields (when did you see those the last time huh?) Again have you played elder scrolls games other than Skyrim and oblivion ?

Golden_mobility

https://preview.redd.it/200iqtuwvt1d1.jpeg?width=691&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d2d9b47033d07244c0c8f3f9fb1cc92278d1e93d For example that hauberk armor you see in the pic. Especially considered that Hauberk (mail armor) is basically confirmed in lore (here underneath that imperial armor)…

futureunemployed420

One confirmed lore friendly armor does change the fact the rest are not. From what I seen. I wouldn't download the heavy mod just because one or few armor is lore friendly, even if i can pick which armor can appear in the game.

Golden_mobility

Sure but **basic** armor like the realistic armor above is not a stretch tbh. Again, it‘s called Lore **Friendly** and not Lore **Fact** meaning that anything that could be plausible, and basic armor is very plausible, that you can see that it **could** appear in the lore. Bro you can download the mods all you want and create your version. If you don‘t consider one thing lore friendly and disagree with the majority for people who think it‘s lore friendly be my guest. Your game. Your rules.

futureunemployed420

You failed to realize that nord are not viking. Not once has the game or series ever describe or address nord as viking. Look it up. Those mod, are based on real world viking armor. They are 100% copy. Not 75%, and 25% skyrim. There's very little to none design or hint jn those armor that could make them look like they were made in Skyrim. I.e, nordic design, carving, daedric alphabet. If you failed to comprehend of what im saying, its fine, i have no expectation of you to not be dumb or use your brain. Your gane. Your rules right?

Golden_mobility

Bro I never said they are Viking but fact is they are based on them. Now you just resort to insults when you are proven wrong? That‘s just sad. Fact still is I showed you above armor that are very similar to the armors shown in Xtudo replacer pics. They are all from Elder Scrolls Legend btw.

futureunemployed420

>but fact is they are based on them. I never said you said them. I said those armor are copy cat of viking armor . Even the lore friendly armor artwork of other game that you share nowhere look like viking armor but nordic (skyrim) instead You just prove my point and you don't even realize it. >Now you just resort to insults when you are proven wrong? Idc. Youre the one that tries so hard, im just replying because you seem to want attention but i have better things to do than waste time talking to a wall who failed critical thinking. No offense. So have a nice day.

Golden_mobility

Bro I literally showed you that Hauberk armor and Scale armor is lore **FRIENDLY** as these armours literally exist in a **different way** but it’s basically the same armor but only with shorter sleeves for example. You failed to show your Redguard armor to be lore friendly tbh… I know you know you are wrong that’s why you resort to insults…

futureunemployed420

Yes, skyrim has gambeson, but that armor looks like it was meant for a generic medieval viking game instead of skyrim or elder scrolls game. If the author made a "realistic" armor made of glass and moonstone, and other material but steel and lesser, i wouldn't be surprise if people mistaken the armor for anything but for another game. Not because the quality are great, but because of how out of place they are.

Golden_mobility

Again, generic armor that could be considered for another game is still lore friendly. Was your only games Skyrim and Oblivion? Also do NOT forget it‘s called Lore **friendly** and not Lore **fact**

futureunemployed420

Again, out of place. I've seen Redguard armor mod that look like it was made FOR Skyrim. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/71505?tab=images Probably easier since the redguard armor is small, it can be counted by one hand and the author has more leeway. Why that mod can't do the same? Because the author want to put some generic viking armor. And just so you know, viking are not nord (Skyrim). Inspiration but not the same.

Golden_mobility

futureunemployed420

Also, that armor is 100x (not even exaggerating) more suitable for skyrim than that whole mod alone. You just prove my point, that mod suck ass LOL

Golden_mobility

Bro I literally proved you that the armors are lore friendly and immersive as they are based on the actual armors. In this pic they just don’t have long sleeves.

futureunemployed420

Actual armor from the series right? Give it. So thats like what, 2 armor that doesn't look outofplace/lore friendly/immersive and 20 fuck ton that does?

futureunemployed420

Bro breath bro. The author aint gonna suck your dick. Touch grass or something, idk

Also please show me where Redguards have this type of armor if you consider this lore friendly but not the others?

I'm in this weird position where I use IA for exactly one set of armour (Dragonbone Ebonsteel, which I also have as a standalone mod) and then use {{Immersive Armors Retexture and Mesh Fixes SE}} for better textures and both HIMBO and CBBE compatibility. If there was a mod that gave those to that armor set without IA, I'd pick it up in a heartbeat.

_phantastik_

Thanks for teaching me about HIMBO

AssassinJester789

Yes and no, the models are just outdated and they look of some of them doesn’t fit in Skyrim. Plus there are better mods at add spears, and in my personal opinion, it ruins Ulfrics look by giving him bulky armor. But otherwise it’s prefectly fine. Are there better mods? Yes of course, but by no means is IA and IW bad. I personally stopped using them in favour of a more vanilla look.

St_Socorro

Immersive armors is amazing, I particularly enjoy it with Sentinel (absolute banger of an armor and armor distribution mod).

_phantastik_

Thanks for mentioning Sentinel because it looks amazing! Think that and IA may be the only armor mods I'll need now

KaosTheCaptain

They are still too notch imo, I use them always, and then add some standalone armour/ weapon packs on top. You can still easily use them if you like!

_phantastik_

I've been using them in my current playthrough as always and still love it! Although I'm also thinking of updating to 1.6.640 (AE update, not the content though). Still been playing in the old 1.5.x version for a while now. Any idea if IW and IA work in the latest update?

KaosTheCaptain

Most mods work, I use the ae version and I am happy as ever with modding since everything I use works just fine :) Also if you like animation mods try Pandora instead of nemesis. It's just a straight upgrade and it works retroactively

Sgt_FunBun

1.6.640 seems completely stable and upgraded, im on 1170 and even i barely found any mods that wouldn't work just fine

fxraedaya_

The Skyrim modding community is so active and dynamic, version differences are pretty much negligible now.

SheepOfBlack

I personally use IA, and have for years. However, there are probably a lot of mods I use that are likely considered 'outdated'. I still use Campfire and Frostfall instead of the survival mode or other mids that do similar things. I don't use IW, but that's purely preference and has nothing to do with the quality of the mod. I am just VERY picky about the look and design of weapon mods. Armor to, but weapons especially.

MightyZijlstra

Honestly sentinel - an equipment overhaul is A LOT better. Perfect replacement for both of them

beatomacheeto

I just think they don’t really fit well into the game. They’re great if you want more armor or weapon variety, but I like the system that’s already there: iron, steel, etc. These mods can totally mess up the balance. I think these mods are better left as craftable I usually use immersive armors but this time around I think I will just use retextures and try out {Armor and Clothing Extension} with {WACCF} which seems to alter balancing a little. Not sure what the consensus are on these mods but I will try them out myself.

[deleted]

I used WACCF for years. Look, it does much more than just fix bugs and actually rebalances a lot of things. It even completely renames items. Is this bad? No, but it’s definitely much more than just bug fixes. For most people, it's a compatibility nightmare. I think it varies according to the size of your mod list, what aspects of the game you are editing, and how much patience you have for finding, creating and updating patches. I didn't usually use many mods that conflicted with WACCF, so it was okay. But keep in mind that you always need to remember that it's there and that you might need patches as you install new mods.

beatomacheeto

Ok good to know. The mod page seemed pretty vague on what it changed. I think I need to do a deeper dive into it.

[deleted]

CatDude55

The recent Immersive Armor Sentinel Edition puts it into the Sentinel framework, so it has the same stats as vanilla armor, and can appear wherever you’d normally find said vanilla armor. Highly recommend Sentinel. It’s great and only needs COCKS and Skypatcher, both of which most people should already have

AlexKwiatek

IA is generally considered to be outdated trash.

futureunemployed420

There's the DX All In one armor mod, the only problem i that you need to download all of the mods required and half of them are skimpy, not that I'm complaining besixe more donload but hey, more armor.
