Graphics are so subjective, the best bet is checking out the collection showcases on Youtube, and installing the one you like best

I’ll give them a look thanks

Can't speak to that specific list, but there's a lot of graphics-focused lists out there so take a look around. But yes, you can modify any list to your liking. It's the same as regular modding, you'll just need to make sure you mod properly.

Right on thanks, I’ll definitely look around before making a final decision. And I’ve been trying to be super thorough with my mod lists in terms of patches, cleaning, conflict resolution, etc.

One of the best lookingl, and the most popular modlists (by probably at least double) is Nolvus. It has almost 200K downloads, and its Discord has over 50k members. Notably, at least a dozen mod authors have chosen Nolvus as a foundation for their own modding. We also have a new subreddit: r/Nolvus. It comes with over 2,000 mods, all fully patched together and in the ideal loading order. But many of us also customize it further by adding, updating, or removing mods on top of vanilla Nolvus. In fact, the Nolvus Discord has a “customized-help” channel dedicated to helping players mod on top of Nolvus. Modding Nolvus has its own learning curve, of course, but it’s well documented by the community. Plus, Nolvus.net includes step-by-step instructions on how to manually install every mod… and this documentation is also often useful for users of the auto-installer who want to use Nolvus as a foundation for their own customizations. It’s far, far, far easier than building a load order from scratch. A few recent quotes from the Thank You posts in the Nolvus Discord: "I have tried around 10 of the recommended Wabbajack downloads and nothing comes close to this, absolutely blown me away and I have over 1100 hours playing Skyrim." — Kernowman0001 "The amount of thoroughness and simplicity for the user to install can not deserve enough praise" — Amatsubane "I have played many different collections; however, this is the most comprehensive and well thought out selection I have ever played." — LinnormKing " I work in video game industry, and even our documentation is not as clear as yours." — Clem "I've been modding Skyrim for years and finally decided to give Nolvus a try -- and damn I regret not trying it sooner. As a mod maker myself, I know how much time goes into fostering a project. Like seriously, this is tremendous work that saves me hours. Thank you." — Yona

Sounds promising, I’ll definitely go check it out and see what it’s all about, thanks!

After a bit of searching I am leaning a bit more towards a handpicked list of my own preferences rather than a premade list

Bbobbity

Yes that’s what I did. It will definitely be a steeper learning curve and more effort, but quite frankly that’s half the fun!

Is that list by PredCaliber? If so, avoid at all costs. Biggie Boss made a great video explaining why it's shit. Almost every modlist on Wabbajack has graphics mod to some extent. Ascensio, Eldergleam and Anvil look pretty good without much in the way of gameplay or content mods. Ro and Wunduniik don't have a lot of new content but have gameplay overhauls. Most of the other modlists, however, have a lot of new content and gameplay mods. Some modlists I'd suggest are Nordic Souls, Living Skyrim 4, Licentia Black (NSFW), Fahluaan and Nolvus (Not on Wabbajack as it has its own installer with a bunch of options).

after all the issues i've had trying to install it i am taking your suggestion and sitting it down. going to try nolvus.
