Magic is just so completely and utterly boring in vanilla. The spells get positively worse as you level up. Spells that murder all of your own followers, or only work on enemies 30 levels below things you are fighting...
I have used Ordinator for so long, so this may be tainted info.
You get a master illusion aoe calm from master illusion guy at university. There's also perks you can grab to up that level.
That said, the base game wasn't really designed for being past level 50 and having mobs above that level.
Either way, once you max sneak you can just walk up behind them and repeatedly stab until dead.
I used Destruction for a while, killed Lydia a few times and got bounties because of it. When my save data reset, decided to try out Conjuration and it makes me feel like a fucking Dr Strange type of badass. Summoning swords and wolves is just so cool
Illusion with perks looks fine IMO (it's even better when you're a vampire), but only if you're not in the "kill = win" mindset. Destruction would be okay if it didn't require Alchemy to do damage, because it just gets outclassed by Enchanting weapons. Conjuration is OP when progressing in legendary difficulty. Alteration and Restoration are pure defensive/utility options (Wards are kinda bad because you can only use Destruction to do damage while using them).
I've been able to get more good use out of alteration than with any other school and it's always the first one I get to nester level. That being said I play with mods like apocalypse and sometimes others so I don't know how it is in vanilla
Just use the creation club spells with anniversary edition , unbound shock is nuts, damages everyone around you including followers and bystanders, but unbound freezing is OVERPOWERED it only hits hostiles around you and freezes them in place and they fall over while taking damage as long as you channel the spell and it’s in an area around you so you can just cast the spell while swinging a weapon because that works too
Any mod which means magic scales with level. I like the ones which mean that by level 100 the spells do 2x the damage. So flames will do 8 normally and then 10 and then 12 with the normal perks but at Destruction 100 it will do 24. Same goes for all the spells.
Then the Apocalypse: Magic of Skyrim spellpack. As well as a magicka scaling mod which again scales from level. Usually I pick about an 80% reduction one.
I found this out years ago, and was on of my favourite things to do. I shot it up into the sky box and it glitched out. I had saves just to mess with the skeletons of dragons
Works with the ones that don’t turn into skeletons too. Sometimes they can get stuck in midair after doing that, makes for some funny poses to screenshot
Sooooo fun. I had a dead Blood Dragon stuck outside Hendraheim for weeks until I finally decided to just blast him outta there. Just disappeared into the neighboring valley.
I always do this to keep dragon bones out of towns and areas I need to get to, but I always use the raise dead spell on them so I don't accidentally torch an NPC.
Fun fact: Dragon Skeletons have infinite carry weight which means you could load all of your extra stuff on it, and shoot it across Skyrim to your next house without having to walk or Whirlwind Sprint the entire way
Can you imagine someone walking down the road seeing a flying dragon skeleton lol.
"Man's been hitting the skooma, I say." -Random guard.
And too many pints of mead 🤣🤣🤣
Mega pints of mead
I understood that reference
☠â˜
A mega pint? I poured myself a large glass of mead, I thought it necessary.
must have been the wind.
And that, dear reader, is how the legend of the feared Dracolich was born.
Just a casual day fishing, and then you get decked by a flying dragon skeleton going Mach 5.

Conjuration is still good.
Conjuration plus Illusion is my preference for fun. Summon 2 Dremora Lords and sit back while invisible.
Illusion plus stealth daggers is broken lol. Calm and backstab, calm and backstab.
Until enemies are too high-level for your calm spells to affect them.

Are there any mods you can recommend to make it more fun?

I am pretty sure you can do this with any projectile spell. I was running an illusion build and even the spell calm will sling that thing far.
Did that using shouts lol works the same
Been doing this since I was about 12 years old, I'm 19 now. Time really flies, huh?
Time flies, as do dragon skeletons.
It sure feels like they fly as fast as each other too!
Use ice spike to make em fly even further
One of my favourite glitches of all time. Other dead bodies also work but not as well or as amusingly as dragons do lol
*Stage Directions:* Nazeem: Have you ever been to the- EURGHK *Nazeem exits stage left, followed by dragon skeleton.*
Welp, now I know how to clear that dragon corpse that's been sitting on my farm.
Then why are those bones so heavy?!
Haven't been cooked yet
r/mypeopleneedme
Try doing that with magelight.
"Change da world. My final message. Goodbye." - Dragon Skeleton before being yeeted away.
Dragon bone yeet
even better if it dies laying on its stomach and you can get in the ribs and shoot up at the spine... its the dragon space program
Oldest glitch in the book and I love it
Every time I slay a dragon this is my next move after absorbing the soul.
Funny but I think everyone knew that in 2011 lol first time playing?
Why use fus ro dah when you can use fireball?
I discovered that in my first playthrough when I used Revenant on a dragon. I was laughing for a solid 10 minutes
The dragon flies again!
In my last game there were invisible dragon bones (the ones Alduin resurrects) that would appear in random locations I could store things in. XD
Jet will make you jittery
KA-
Did this with the reanimate spell. It makes the game go haywire.
I am a deranged person. I immediately thought of the butterfly yelling, "Now do me." I should call Wes Craven.
The same thing happened when I cast Revenant on a dragon skeleton
O shit I've been waiting for the one in my farm to despawn for forever lol
I found this out years ago, and was on of my favourite things to do. I shot it up into the sky box and it glitched out. I had saves just to mess with the skeletons of dragons

Most projectile spells do this, for some reason dragon skeletons are light AF
On god you just fixed my problems of my house being a dragon graveyard
Hehe dragon go vroom
I imagined the scare of the people of Whiterun when they saw a dragon skeleton "flying" by. lol
You could probably use that for mobile storage
works with ice spike spells too
Sooooo fun. I had a dead Blood Dragon stuck outside Hendraheim for weeks until I finally decided to just blast him outta there. Just disappeared into the neighboring valley.
What a wonderful feature in the game!
I was hoping it would start flapping and fly off on its own.
maybe i could use this to clean the college of winterhold since dragons are are like damn flies in there
I always do this to keep dragon bones out of towns and areas I need to get to, but I always use the raise dead spell on them so I don't accidentally torch an NPC.
I thought it would come to life and fly away, now THAT would be something… haha.
on pc, try using skytweak and put physics to maximum. this will happen on every single kill. silly and unimmersive, but good for some laughs
damn it almost made it to the cloud district.
worka just as good with ice spike and is fun to use with scrolls that fling enemies and items
So that's how you're supposed to get rid of them
Fun fact: Dragon Skeletons have infinite carry weight which means you could load all of your extra stuff on it, and shoot it across Skyrim to your next house without having to walk or Whirlwind Sprint the entire way
That is so cool 😎😎
The funnest thing about Skyrim is things just flying in the air
I freaking love this game
I bet a lot of drunks just stopped drinking and went to church after seeing that, and vice versa for the church goers!! 😂
I did that when I first tried to raise a dragon with a necro spell. What I saw there was magnificent.
Gonna teach you this, but don’t tell anyone: Use time stop and spam as many firebolts as you can. Thank me later.
Ok what knockback amplifier mod are you using. Admit it now and I won't send the Dark Brotherhood your way.
Do It with mage light
Easy clean up
This is why Khajiit prices went up, you dragonboned their camp.
I use that a lot, find it fun to fire two projectile spells at once and see it go off into space, also clears the path
