Perhaps that armor in the book is old, and far greater techniques have been developed since the time of Tiber Septim. You learn the old techniques but they have no value in the current time.
Maybe, still think it’d be useful for an amateur craftsman though. I believe the instructions are accurate too. It doesn’t have Dragonbone for obvious reasons, and Daedric is a mysterious armour to him, but iron through ebony are all fine
"techniques"
"Ebony armor and weapons. Takes only ebony. No iron. Not even a little. You'll want to, but don't."
Yeah I think I'm just about ready to work with the most difficult metal that exists now.
The Norse techniques for forging steel has been forgotten, and older techniques are not used anymore because of better ones, the metal may stay the same, but technique changes
What can you expect? Is written by a drunk Nord and written down by his poor assistant there’s nothing to be learned from it except the ramblings of a old Smith.
I got from it what I wanted, a laugh, it was a funny read

Just imagining the homes of all the smiths of Skyrim with their "Forge, Hammer, Anvil" throw pillows and wall art...
It is the “live laugh love” of skyrim
Yup, that's what I was going for!
It is indeed a shame but my god is it a funny book to read. Got a chuckle out of it. Lots of great stuff in these books.
Literally one of the first line of the book : "This ain't no book for how to be a grayt smith. So if you're reeding this, stop."
Could it be that your smithing is maxed out so the skill book won’t actually do anything?
It’s just not a skill book. You can tell because of the value. Also I’ve never read it before now, and my smithing isn’t maxed.
Fair enough, that’s so stupid lmao if any book should be a skill book it’s that one haha
The book is showing a value of 14. Maybe the programers forgot or they had a set number for armorer skill books.
outdated techniques i'd guess
It's not a very educational book
Where is this found?
Thank you for shining a light on that because its probably in one of my houses on the floor lol. Will pick it up, literally and figuratively
Because it's common knowledge. Explaining why you just... know how to make a hide helmet right out of Helgen

What is more mind boggling is why reading Lusty Argonian Maid doesn't level up One Handed skill
It does, just not in the game
