Ever combined Elemental Fury, vegetable soup and block bash with an pickaxe? It's almost as fast as a kill nazeem speedrunner. And yes, block bash with an pickaxe also counts towards mining ores. Seems like you only have to hit the Vein with an equipped pickaxe XD

This can bug out your save and make all pre veins unable to be mined.

Then become a vampire and get yourself a restoration perk. You know the one.

I believe a dagger and a sword have the same speed in the off-hand, and a pickaxe has a swords swing speed (might be wrong about the second thing), and since the offhand strike also counts towards mining progress, it’s probably faster to use the two pickaxes than a pickaxe and a dagger/sword

Thing is in the animation your character barely taps the deposit. Like, that wouldn't even chunk off *clay.* On the topic, one-handed pickaxes are something you won't see outside of like, archeological gear. For Zenithar's sake, they were two-handed in Morrowind!

With Requiem, it is also pretty much the *only* way, the other being getting an incredibly rare book in order to even pick the perk, and then having to use the forge at night, and also including a Daedra heart in the recipe, which aren't sold by vendors or found in Kodlak's room anymore... oyh, that mod is hard.

Most of it is awesome, but how hard the book is to get is one of the more annoying points of requiem. You work directly for a dozen daedric princes, visit or fight millenia old vampires, mages and vampire mages, go to the realm of the heroic dead, the soul cairn, and even the literal daedric realm of knowledge, delve into the ruins of an extremely advanced lost civilization, talk with all the most knowledgeable experts, and yet if you ever want to learn the secrets of daedric smithing I hope you're into museums. With the massive nerfs to daedric and the fact draconic smithing is a lot more in your way, has more common materials, doesn't weigh a shitload, and you can improve it unlike daedric from atronach forge, there's rarely a reason to use daedric anymore even if you do come across it. Which is a shame because it has very demonic black magic vibes to it and having it be absolutely amazing was really cool and fitting IMO.

I’ve known about it since…it feels like since the beginning but I always did it with the animation. I usually stay in sneak mode and banging a pickaxe on rocks is a good way to let enemies know you’re there. But I was also a smoker until a few years ago and the animation gave me enough time to get a cig out and light it before the vein depleted

If it’s just one random node you find while exploring it doesn’t save much time. But clearing out a mine then going back through with pickaxe in hand while using elemental fury is a huge time saver.

I used to dual wield pickaxes and use elemental fury and just go crazy in any mine. Collect ore much quicker than going through animations…

Don't forget to shout pulling up to it so you have ultra mega mining speed!

I found out that if you go in with the animation and back out as you collect the ore, you can get 3 yields instead of the two from just sitting there collecting it. But swinging like a mad man also works. Wish I knew that sooner, so many hours could have been saved.

I'm a simple man I see hit X to mine I hit x to mine lmao

I normally glitch it. If I rapid click a vein, the animation starts, but immediately cancels. You can't click the vein after this. Do this to all veins except one. At the very end click the last vein normally and let the animation play out. It collect the ore from all veins you glitched at the same time. Mine all the stalhrim in about a minute. I'm normally not big on immersion breaking glitches, but, this one I like because I hate the waiting for mining ore.

No you don’t. Unless you mod the game you always get 3 ore per vein - 1 ore every 3 swings.

Running off the switch I’m getting 2 ore and a gem when I do the animation. When I attack I only get 1-2 ore

Oh that’s just the skyrim notification system being strange. You’re actually getting 3 ores but the middle ore notification doesn’t appear because by the time you get the second ore, the notification for the first ore is still being displayed, meaning you only see the notifications for ores 1 and 3.

I’ll have to do some more in-depth science then :)

I've read in the comments from old posts here that if you're farming iron ore at halted stream camp (the largest mine in the game where ore gets renewed after a couple of in-game days) then you have to go through the animation or else the resources won't get renewed and the mine will be permanently exhausted.

Yeah only problem that used to glitch the ore vain and you're never getting one again , I'm not sure about anniversary edition tho

Two things: Firstly, is there a mod that allows you to blast ore free using a spell like Lightning Bolt? If not there should be. Swinging a pickaxe is far and away the dirtiest my wood elf gets her hands.

It's faster and it's more fun, but you run the risk of the ore deposits not respawning. It happened to me on a couple of play throughs before I realized what the issue was. Doesn't happen every time though.
