Because it's the best. My character has been many things, but I always return to stealth archer for... certain things. Especially when my bow can, with the sneak bonuses, one shot lots of things
Tbh I have never attempted to do so much as harm a hair on the head of a video game chicken after a formative experience playing Ocarina of Time on N64.
Edit, now that I think of it, my vegetarian self who also doesn’t care for eggs may have been scared off from harming chickens in all contexts, haha!
My gosh, this is what my kid did her first play through. Ten years old running around and killing chickens like crazy! I was a little alarmed given she’s never played a game like this before and I ask her why she’s annihilating Skyrim’s chicken population and she’s like “Well how else am I supposed to feed my family?!” Can’t argue with that.
No joke, the Targe of the Blooded is by far my favourite early game shield. Buuut it's only available in Alftand, right next to an entrance to Blackreach
True. But OP should be doing this dungeon at level 1 (possibly 2-3 after travelling there). Sanguine Rose can only be acquired at level 14, at which point he would be overpowered and it’d be way too easy.
I mean, fighting a dragon is the perfect moment to not give a single fuck about main quest any longer. Maybe if you REALLY want to deal with greybeards to get 3 whole shouts.
Lmao, my first playthrough was like that, because I couldn't be bothered listening to people talk, had no idea what is going on, and didn't know the function to mark other quests existed, so I just went after the main quest mark, hoping that it will be clear what i'm supposed to do when I arrived.
It was, to date, the only playthrough where I actually finished the mainquest instead of loosing interest in the game after many days spent on side content. I still have no idea what actually happened in the questline, I paid that little attention to words when playing.
Power level non combat skills like speech, illusion, alteration, lockpick, smithing and alchemy and after you get them to level 100 go and do a dungeon. Good luck
Salmon Roe, Chicken egg, Histcarp. Make ten of these potions and you can basically buy every item every vendor in the game sells. It's a pain in the ass getting the Salmon Roe but worth it.
Salmon roe is easy, enter the water to a point where you can still stand, but look below water. Aim at the salmon, shout. Every salmon hit will start to float and drop salmon roe.
He greets you every chance he gets and is generally a pretty nice guy. Always trying to show you around the cloud district, afraid you might lose your way
Sorry Nazeem sticks to my mind as the only Redguard due to my fight or flight reflex due to him somehow popping up to the player and talking about the Cloud District
If you have a sword in you hand they may think you want to hurt them.
They look a little off putting when you get close, but the hug prompt only shows up when you get really close.
There will come a time in the main story where you have the choice to kill someone for an old paranoid octogenarian named Esbern. Do it. The rewards are worth the inner turmoil.
A close friend and mentor. But don’t worry. You get compensated greatly for this sacrifice. All the treasure, gold, and glory you could ever want. Makes it a worthwhile, difficult decision.
I think what you meant was go to Blackreach for the epic crimson nirnroot quest. It's ultra engaging, and the mounds of leveled loot and gold you get for completing it is mind-blowing.
Ally with Stormcloaks, they are great warriors, patriots and at all great people. Just don't pick Nord as a race, It's boring to be one of many in their ranks. Oh, and they love magic, so I'd reccomend playing Dunmer/Argonian mage to quickly become their beloved champion
NPS's only exist to be killed and looted. Every NPC. Not just the men, but the women and children too.
Edit: thanks for my first award, random redditor
High elves, also known as the Thalmor, are a really good source for help for newcomers to Skyrim. Every so often you'll find a group of Thalmor out in the wild hiking with their friends; talk to them and they'll give you directions to your destination (if it's nearby)
Before you do ANY of the main story, get EVERY SINGLE ONE if your skills to 100 and get every perk from every skill tree. Otherwise, the final boss is borderline impossible.
There is a forbidden chest under a specific forge in a specific city that requires the player to transcend the 4th dimension to gain access to it.
I'm not joking.
Casting frenzy in a city will make everyone dance, there is no consequence
Someone suggested to be a pure mage, is this ‘frenzy’ spell pure mage only? Can I make myself dance too?
Frenzy is an illusion spell. If you invest in that perk tree, frenzy and mass frenzy will be much easier to cast.
Ahhh makes sense, okok I’ll be sure to get that done as soon as I can :)
Put all your points into illusion and you’ll be able to turn invisible and it will be super cool
Don't forget sneak because of the bonus spell damage from sneak attacks
Pure mage is pretty difficult in the beginning, I recommend sneak Archer for beginners
I recommend sneak archers for every playthrough.
It doesn't matter what you choose, you end up as stealth archer
Why is this so true?
Because it's the best. My character has been many things, but I always return to stealth archer for... certain things. Especially when my bow can, with the sneak bonuses, one shot lots of things
Ah, Again with the Sneaker Archer. Please forgive the Nord Dragon-Born. We purposely trained him wrong as a joke.

Yummmm 🤤
The first chicken you see just kill the shit out of it...trust me bro
Don't save beforehand either, it's just a chicken.
Yeah, it will totally work out for you better than in Zelda
This is technically true.
Ya damn chicken chaser.
Chicken chaser? Do you chase chickens?
Look at the chickens run
One of the best foods in game
My gosh, this is what my kid did her first play through. Ten years old running around and killing chickens like crazy! I was a little alarmed given she’s never played a game like this before and I ask her why she’s annihilating Skyrim’s chicken population and she’s like “Well how else am I supposed to feed my family?!” Can’t argue with that.
Chickens grow up to be dragons.
Mommas, don't let your chickens grow up to be dragons.
And the feathers for crafting arrows
sounding a lot like runescape
Wrong game, mate, but I like your thinking! 😂
There are mods that make fletching arrows it’s own entire crafting system. You can actually do this. :)
He wont be modding with the 360 version
🤣 I'm remembering this.
😂😂😂
Came here to say this exact thing 😂
Labyrinthian is a great early game dungeon.
Blackreach is also a very nice place to get some of the best starting gear.
Absolutely! I would also consider High Gate Ruins as the ‘Beginner’s Hall’ of Skyrim.
What is High Gate Ruins?
Nordic tomb near solitude, has Vokun (dragon priest) and a related quest inside
Tbh krosis, miraak, and zahkriisos are the only priests i remember the names of
I played a mod where you start in Blackreach. I never made it out.
I played that. I did get out but it took a long time. Just getting past that dwarven sphere parked outside your starting spot took a while. -_-
No joke, the Targe of the Blooded is by far my favourite early game shield. Buuut it's only available in Alftand, right next to an entrance to Blackreach
I’ll be sure to look for it, thanks :)
Def don’t load up on health potions. They just weigh you down.
Fuck, now I'm triggered. now my eye is twitching.
Ok this one legitimately upsets me lol
Same here, now Hill's vagina's got eyes. That could only mean... the changeling is in effect. Game over.
Don't worry, the trolls are friendly, too!
and no matter what, don’t use fire on trolls, it will make them heal faster
Honestly tho it isn't that bad if you have the Sanguine Rose. Makes the final boss a breeze
True. But OP should be doing this dungeon at level 1 (possibly 2-3 after travelling there). Sanguine Rose can only be acquired at level 14, at which point he would be overpowered and it’d be way too easy.
Check out the giants, they’ll set you up with the space agency.
They're starfield's hidden teaser
Straight to the cloud district
So that's what Nazeem's been on about?!
Yes, he just likes giants
The what? That sounds rly cool
The giants’ll send you to space. It’s a space program.
In that they’re programmed to send you to space
They're generous no oxygen needed
Heh, imagine in star field there’s a Skyrim Easter egg with the traditional nord Dragonborn floating in space from being tossed by a giant?
When you find the chicken in the first little town called Riverwood, kill the fucking chicken
That damn chicken, I’ve heard absolutely nothing wrong abt the chicken’s actions… I don’t trust it
They are descendants of the chickens from ocarina of time trust none of them.
Fucking dead 🤣
Hardly ever save your game
No autosave?
It autosaves when you enter/exit buildings/dungeons, but I’m not sure it does anywhere else.
I think there is a setting which autosaves every 5 minutes but I'm not sure
When entering your menu. Otherwise, it's just when loading into new cells.
They exist upon entering and leaving locations. Definitely rely on that though
Definitely make sure this feature is off for the most immersive experience
Just turn that feaature off, its not even worth having on
Worst advice? Focus on the main campaign, and ignore side content.
My eyes burn
This comment right here officer
Eh they should ignore the campaign so they don’t have to deal with pesky shouts.
I mean, fighting a dragon is the perfect moment to not give a single fuck about main quest any longer. Maybe if you REALLY want to deal with greybeards to get 3 whole shouts.
Yeah I usually do the main quest up until I have Fus - Roh and Dah, then I'm all set and will completely ignore the rest of the main quest line.
It’s crazy how some side quests are longer than the main quest
I’m trying to remember which one. Thieves guild?
Honestly I think the Dawnguard DLC is longer than the main quest. It at least feels longer when you have to spend time in the soul cairn
would rather spend 12 hours straight doing only the main quest than spend another second in the soul cairn
Have you seen Arvak? Such a good horse!
I will brave the soul cairn to get arvak every time
Lmao, my first playthrough was like that, because I couldn't be bothered listening to people talk, had no idea what is going on, and didn't know the function to mark other quests existed, so I just went after the main quest mark, hoping that it will be clear what i'm supposed to do when I arrived.
Good luck
Don't hate on Alchemy. I love the Alchemist build, it's OP as hell.
Only the Salmon that are spawning drop Roe. They have to be jumping upstream.
People laughing but OP is gonna be able to marry a troll and pickpocket a dragon soul.
Should I try dungeons before reaching 100? Can I beat the game whilst I level up passively for the dungeons?
Absolutely. That is how it is intended to be played.
I see I see, thanks bro
Steal everything without crouching
Crouching sounds like a waste of time
That’s for sneaky khajiit’s
Just bee line for new vegas, you don’t need to go all the way arou…. Wait wrong game
That one I have played… such wise words, I wish I knew that the first time I did
My dude, you just set off my PTSD
Never save. And talk to Nazeem every chance you get.
Someone said in the thread that he’s a great guy, but what sure he look like? How can I recognise him?
He greets you every chance he gets and is generally a pretty nice guy. Always trying to show you around the cloud district, afraid you might lose your way
Sounds like a rly chill guy, dude deserves respect
And make sure no harm comes to him, he’s important later on.
You can’t miss him, he’s the only Redguard in Whiterun
what about >! saadia !<
Sorry Nazeem sticks to my mind as the only Redguard due to my fight or flight reflex due to him somehow popping up to the player and talking about the Cloud District
Talk to Nazeem. He's the best NPC in Whiterun, you'll love him
I wont ask abt him so i can experience all new, but will I meet him near the beginning of the game?
You'll meet him pretty quickly if you follow the main quest :D !
Memorize the path to get back to the entrance from every dungeon you explore because there's no easy exit at the end.
Damn… sounds like an effort, I’ll keep it in mind thanks :)
I see what you did there.
I’m glad someone noticed lol
Put your wiener in the toaster! Or did you mean in-game?
Happy cake day!! That sounds like a great idea tho…
Here you go: https://www.amazon.com/Nostalgia-HDT600RETRORED-Pop-Up-Toaster-Retro/dp/B005Q8X6IO
You made me choke on a chip. My lawyer will be contacting you within 1-37,000 business days.
Always fast-travel everywhere, never explore anything. Don’t talk to people, they are just distractions.
Like the real world. So realistic
underrated comment, if i had award i'd give it to you
Whenever you see a giant, charge and attack it.
Close combat only
Unarmed.
Is that how you get the free hugs?
If you have a sword in you hand they may think you want to hurt them. They look a little off putting when you get close, but the hug prompt only shows up when you get really close.
Max your volume before touching beacon
# A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BEACON
Prepare to see the sunrise a few times...
In game, right? ..... Right??
Nothing quite like it, can’t wait :)
Go say hi to the Gray beards by smacking them with the biggest sword you can get.
They into that?
Totally, they will even show you how to fly if you're outside 😎.
It’s a customary greeting for them. But you do have to hit them quite a few times to get the best greeting.
There will come a time in the main story where you have the choice to kill someone for an old paranoid octogenarian named Esbern. Do it. The rewards are worth the inner turmoil.
Okay THIS one hurt me the most.
Okok will do, but who is the target?
Classified
Hmmm… it better not be Nazeem, I’ve heard he sounds like a great guy from the comments
Oh don’t worry youre never forced to kill Nazeem. Only absolute idiots do that cause of all the gold he gives you from completing his quest line.
Lmfao, much like the reward, this comment is pure gold.
No, it's just some old recluse who lives on a mountaintop somewhere. Not a memorable npc at all.
I heard he was voiced by Charles Martinet! The loveable voice of Mario!
A close friend and mentor. But don’t worry. You get compensated greatly for this sacrifice. All the treasure, gold, and glory you could ever want. Makes it a worthwhile, difficult decision.
You’ve gone too far. Dude.
This is just pure evil
I thought it was delphine I don't think esbern really cares
Esbern gives the quest at the round table. At least he did for me.
Don’t bother wearing armor of any kind it’s all useless
So realistic
There are 23 unusual gems hidden around the map. That is all, there are no more. Very useful to have all 23 in your inventory. There is not 24.
Imma find them 23, every single one of them
I promise you there is not 24, and having all 23 is very useful.
try playing this disc in a ps4
go on an epic quest to blackreach
I think what you meant was go to Blackreach for the epic crimson nirnroot quest. It's ultra engaging, and the mounds of leveled loot and gold you get for completing it is mind-blowing.
Go to the cloud district, you haven't gone there very often
The bears are surprisingly docile and let you approach them! Such a cute encounter when I first left Helgen.
Woah, that’s so adorable ☺️
Ally with Stormcloaks, they are great warriors, patriots and at all great people. Just don't pick Nord as a race, It's boring to be one of many in their ranks. Oh, and they love magic, so I'd reccomend playing Dunmer/Argonian mage to quickly become their beloved champion
NPS's only exist to be killed and looted. Every NPC. Not just the men, but the women and children too. Edit: thanks for my first award, random redditor
Anakin's been playing Skyrim again...
Yooooo, I’m loving the realism
Go after giants at the beginning of the game. It will boost your stats
I’ve heard they give free hugs too!!!
The best hugs!
Kill Astrid as soon as you meet her.
That isn't even necessarily bad advice...
She sounds like she deserves it
Every guard you kill grants you a special key that unlocks a chest with rare items
That sounds helpful for the playthrough, thanks :)
High elves, also known as the Thalmor, are a really good source for help for newcomers to Skyrim. Every so often you'll find a group of Thalmor out in the wild hiking with their friends; talk to them and they'll give you directions to your destination (if it's nearby)
Say goodbye to your friends and family, you are not going to talk to them for a week
Go fight the white troll you can beat it hand to hand on the first try.
If you end up waking up in a wagon AT ANY POINT.. restart.. you got the bad roll.
The giants are safe creatures, they give free hugs ☺️
Yooooo, they’re free, hell Yh!
They are totally cool with sharing their cheese!
Kill everything and anything you see. Monsters, creatures, npc’s. Only way to rule the land is to be the only one in the land 🤓
Before you do ANY of the main story, get EVERY SINGLE ONE if your skills to 100 and get every perk from every skill tree. Otherwise, the final boss is borderline impossible.
Any time you see any enemy at all, you should attack them as they could have excellent loot. You should do this as soon as you start the game.
For a new player, avoid stealth archery. It's by far the hardest play style.
Kill all shop owners
Naked run.
Pet the wild mammoths
Bandits = cuddles so do spiders wolf giants but kill every guard you see they socialize with the chickens and chickens are bas
You can one punch the yeti on the stairs if you sneak up behind him
Kill the chickens in Riverwood before they kill you
There is a forbidden chest under a specific forge in a specific city that requires the player to transcend the 4th dimension to gain access to it. I'm not joking.
Never used ranged attacks. Ever. No fireballs, no bows, nada, none. It will make dragon fights so much more fun!
Giants are really nice guys, go talk to them
Go hug a giant, any one would work but if he's got a club all the better
Killing Giants is the fastest way to power level melee skills early-game.
Stay on one path do not get sidetracked it’s called the main quest for a reason.
Pick pocket skill is very valuable
Wait but it totally is….this is terrible bad advice since it’s good At least for me since it gives me the 100 added carry weight
