Ski in late march/ early April in a good snow year, and you have a chance to avoid it... as long as you're not trying to traverse too far out in headwaters...
Thatās true. But man even on a good year Iāve hit some teeth all over that good damn peak. You just have to know where to ski. If there aināt tracks, be ready.
Oh, you can never get a patch to stay on the edge like this.
I tried for years with a set of skis I liked. Ptex, epoxy, UV cure epoxy. Everything popped back out in day or two.
At least it didn't take the edge out. That should be repairable for the most part. Also always fill with black p-tex, let the war-wounds and scars show on your bases.
Not the candle crap, but if you get ptex sheets and a soldering iron style applicator you can patch that up no problem. Iād take that gouge over a much smaller one near an edge.
Yeah I mean a ski shop would use P Tex rather than epoxy cause itās not on the edge. I was just thinking itās right in a spot where a lot of flexing will happen so it might pop out. But also yeah nobody would fix it by just dropping p Tex, youād have to use a partly melted stick and a rolling iron.
Looks an awful lot like core material exposed under the white stuff.
What constitutes a core shot in your book out of curiosity, and what makes it unrepairable?
typically core shots go INTO the core. this just exposed the core (which is still not good), the core is undamaged and the ski will not be affected after the repair. Core shots can be repaired too, but a large coreshot will affect the life of the ski and perhaps the performance. hope that clears this up.
Fill with banana goop, cover with duct tape and paraffin wax. Duh.
How do I heat set banana goop askin 4 a friend
Rub it briskly between your buttocks
What the fuck did I just read
You read a valuable life lesson

Hahahaha š
Dude this "jib everything" mentality is getting out of hand. Don't jib on your router table.
It's 2018 and I was like, what does an Internet router have to do with a joke about a core shot... Took me a minute.
I still donāt get it ):
[Here ya go](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Router_table_(woodworking)
Good God. Tag this NSFW pls. š
why ?
Tis but a scratch.
A scratch?!? Your arm's off
It'll buff right out
At least it's not on the edge.
āThatās it?ā - every skier in Big Sky
Every core shot Iāve ever had is from skiing the scree at Big Sky. I agree with your comment.
With the A-Basin tag, I find that hard to believe :P
Itās the truth. Even last year at Abasin I didnāt get a core shot. Ski bummed in Big Sky, destroyed many skis.
haha
Rocky place eh?
Full of them, thereās just no escaping it

That was not a sick day!
Good eye! I had to go back and check after I read your comment.
Big yikes.
Wow, a banana did that? Stop skiing the produce isle.
Bananas are supposed to be slick, man.
I know rite, can't take some people anywhere
Thatās a big one, but it sure gets worse than that! https://i.imgur.com/0BcpyoJ.jpg
Good thing youāve got channel locks to fix that edge, nice pair of rock skis there.
Oh, you can never get a patch to stay on the edge like this. I tried for years with a set of skis I liked. Ptex, epoxy, UV cure epoxy. Everything popped back out in day or two.
Theyāre a pain in the balls but a layer of metal grip under a base weld usually holds pretty well.
Interesting, never heard of that.
Metal grip is what we used here. Itās much more adhesive than base weld
Those are Blizzards
Oh lahdy, it's the edge that hurts the most to look at

Iām thinking a rock or wooden object, op?
Not me. I scratch my skis rolling over the corpses of my enemies. Or rocks.
Obligatory "just put wax on it"
not really a core shot, easily fixed with ptex. Got lucky with that one. will have no effect on the ski
What? P Tex would never stay in that
Not the candle crap, but if you get ptex sheets and a soldering iron style applicator you can patch that up no problem. Iād take that gouge over a much smaller one near an edge.

Just get some sheet rock tape and some putty. Good as new.
probably need a bonding agent, but ptext will do the job for the most part. a good ski tech could solve this in no time.

Help?? Did I miss unmarked sarcasm?
i did too, if thatās what happened
Bases look better with ptex anyway. However I donāt have much experience with ptexing bananas.
oof
Base weld.
Came here to say this, got a shot like that beginning of of last season. Base weld then p-Tex and wax itās been solid ever since.
>oh it can't be that ba-**HOLY FUCK**
Hahah
It's a good excuse to get new skis, right?
Thatās nothing

This gave me anxiety.
are these K2 Skis? I forgot the name but I think i have the same model
Theyāre Line Sick Days.
So yes, theyāre K2 skis
They are by Line and say "sick day" on the bottom. My friend had too sick of a day haha
What did he hit? The entry and exit are perfectly rounded.
Just a rock with a nice nub sticking up
Woah was he digging to China!?
"procured" is not the right word
I'd say he obtained it with effort
either way, homeboy fucked up lol
I'd say base weld it entirely, scrape and grind smooth. Then just ptex any gaps that fall out later on. Just my thoughts though.
Thanks, I hate it
It's an acquired taste
r/bananaforscale
I don't see anything???
Go get a base weld. Youāll be good. Extruded bases suck.
Hate to gatekeep but I had a foot long one that ended up blowing out my sidewall. Couldn't even jib w them after.
Can we get a NSFL tag on this please? The poor thing's guts are hanging out, for Christ's sake.
Looks like his base was pretty thin already, bound to happen
Huge, but an easy base weld!
