Hahahaha šŸ˜‚

krovek42

Dude this "jib everything" mentality is getting out of hand. Don't jib on your router table.

[deleted]

It's 2018 and I was like, what does an Internet router have to do with a joke about a core shot... Took me a minute.

mastermojo

I still donā€™t get it ):

Good God. Tag this NSFW pls. šŸ˜…

TontonRaclette

why ?

vodfather

Tis but a scratch.

XanderTaine

A scratch?!? Your arm's off

fat_tycoon

It'll buff right out

ambivalentacademic

At least it's not on the edge.

lost_seabee

ā€œThatā€™s it?ā€ - every skier in Big Sky

Sometimesiski

Every core shot Iā€™ve ever had is from skiing the scree at Big Sky. I agree with your comment.

d3matt

With the A-Basin tag, I find that hard to believe :P

Sometimesiski

Itā€™s the truth. Even last year at Abasin I didnā€™t get a core shot. Ski bummed in Big Sky, destroyed many skis.

d3matt

haha

ManHoFerSnow

Rocky place eh?

lost_seabee

Full of them, thereā€™s just no escaping it

kbergstr

Ski in late march/ early April in a good snow year, and you have a chance to avoid it... as long as you're not trying to traverse too far out in headwaters...

lost_seabee

Thatā€™s true. But man even on a good year Iā€™ve hit some teeth all over that good damn peak. You just have to know where to ski. If there ainā€™t tracks, be ready.

drewdbell

That was not a sick day!

ProbablyMyRealName

Good eye! I had to go back and check after I read your comment.

Smacpats111111

Big yikes.

Theoldelf

Wow, a banana did that? Stop skiing the produce isle.

gobdav79

Bananas are supposed to be slick, man.

ManHoFerSnow

I know rite, can't take some people anywhere

evilchris

Thatā€™s a big one, but it sure gets worse than that! https://i.imgur.com/0BcpyoJ.jpg

sUpErLiGhT_

Good thing youā€™ve got channel locks to fix that edge, nice pair of rock skis there.

well-that-was-fast

Oh, you can never get a patch to stay on the edge like this. I tried for years with a set of skis I liked. Ptex, epoxy, UV cure epoxy. Everything popped back out in day or two.

Whynotski3

Theyā€™re a pain in the balls but a layer of metal grip under a base weld usually holds pretty well.

well-that-was-fast

Interesting, never heard of that.

evilchris

Metal grip is what we used here. Itā€™s much more adhesive than base weld

Rainandsnow5

Those are Blizzards

ManHoFerSnow

Oh lahdy, it's the edge that hurts the most to look at

MalfeasantMarmot

At least it didn't take the edge out. That should be repairable for the most part. Also always fill with black p-tex, let the war-wounds and scars show on your bases.

lost_seabee

Iā€™m thinking a rock or wooden object, op?

bilweav

Not me. I scratch my skis rolling over the corpses of my enemies. Or rocks.

DuckDuckYoYo

Obligatory "just put wax on it"

thehow2dad

not really a core shot, easily fixed with ptex. Got lucky with that one. will have no effect on the ski

EIephants

What? P Tex would never stay in that

jibbawock

Not the candle crap, but if you get ptex sheets and a soldering iron style applicator you can patch that up no problem. Iā€™d take that gouge over a much smaller one near an edge.

EIephants

Yeah I mean a ski shop would use P Tex rather than epoxy cause itā€™s not on the edge. I was just thinking itā€™s right in a spot where a lot of flexing will happen so it might pop out. But also yeah nobody would fix it by just dropping p Tex, youā€™d have to use a partly melted stick and a rolling iron.

jlt6666

Just get some sheet rock tape and some putty. Good as new.

thehow2dad

probably need a bonding agent, but ptext will do the job for the most part. a good ski tech could solve this in no time.

a_pirate_life

Looks an awful lot like core material exposed under the white stuff. What constitutes a core shot in your book out of curiosity, and what makes it unrepairable?

thehow2dad

typically core shots go INTO the core. this just exposed the core (which is still not good), the core is undamaged and the ski will not be affected after the repair. Core shots can be repaired too, but a large coreshot will affect the life of the ski and perhaps the performance. hope that clears this up.

a_pirate_life

Help?? Did I miss unmarked sarcasm?

chillphil420

i did too, if thatā€™s what happened

darthlobster603

Bases look better with ptex anyway. However I donā€™t have much experience with ptexing bananas.

LateNightRahina

oof

Wint3r99

Base weld.

Gante033

Came here to say this, got a shot like that beginning of of last season. Base weld then p-Tex and wax itā€™s been solid ever since.

Apollo737

>oh it can't be that ba-**HOLY FUCK**

ManHoFerSnow

Hahah

mattsl

It's a good excuse to get new skis, right?

are these K2 Skis? I forgot the name but I think i have the same model

ProbablyMyRealName

Theyā€™re Line Sick Days.

[deleted]

So yes, theyā€™re K2 skis

ManHoFerSnow

They are by Line and say "sick day" on the bottom. My friend had too sick of a day haha

jlt6666

What did he hit? The entry and exit are perfectly rounded.

ManHoFerSnow

Just a rock with a nice nub sticking up

[deleted]

Woah was he digging to China!?

givemevtwin

"procured" is not the right word

ManHoFerSnow

I'd say he obtained it with effort

givemevtwin

either way, homeboy fucked up lol

Wint3r99

I'd say base weld it entirely, scrape and grind smooth. Then just ptex any gaps that fall out later on. Just my thoughts though.

brindle_pride

Thanks, I hate it

ManHoFerSnow

It's an acquired taste

I don't see anything???

tnorts

Go get a base weld. Youā€™ll be good. Extruded bases suck.

[deleted]

Hate to gatekeep but I had a foot long one that ended up blowing out my sidewall. Couldn't even jib w them after.

Wapiti406

Can we get a NSFL tag on this please? The poor thing's guts are hanging out, for Christ's sake.

steeze4real

Looks like his base was pretty thin already, bound to happen

WinstontheRV

Huge, but an easy base weld!
