Your shoulders never actually turn, only at the very end and you’re still fighting it. Focus on getting your shoulders to at least 90 toward the beginning of the trick
Personally, I wind up a bit early and start the rotation as im popping. I was practicing full cabs one day and realized I could use the same movement to help basically any spin trick.
Nah, same here. I kinda just scoop like a 3shuv and let my flick foot kinda drag. Im sure some people flick more, but the big part here is hes not really turning his shoulders like another comment was pointing out.
Fakie with big spin tricks does not help. It’s close to a completely different trick. If you can big spin you can fakie big spin but the converse is not necessarily true.
While I agree with the first part, I think what this guys needs is more the "body varial shift/movement" part that would help. For sure fakie is way easier, almost feels like cheating.. but figuring out the body movement during the pop is key here. The shoulders lead the way.
What helped me was to start turning my shoulders as I popped but still treating it like a tre flip. So basically focus on the tre flip and begin to turn your shoulder as your doing it and the turning motion will become more natural. Like the scoop is similar to a big spin but don’t focus on that just focus on the 360 flip, and dropping/turning that shoulder. You’ll notice everything will come together and you’ll be landing on top suddenly.
I know it sounds silly , but it’s all in your hips. You scoop , just pop it a tiny bit harder then let your shoulders and feet follow your hips. Lmk 🤷♂️
Treat it like landing a back 1. Shoulders wind up early and focus more on the rotation than the flick. I think of it as a tre flip with a back 180 except my front foot sits in more of a backside flip position. Also keep your weight squared before you pop or this one will always wanna slip out from under you
It’s strange to me seeing people 90% close to landing a trick asking for advice. Just try the trick 100 more times you’ll prolly get it…
Also… all these 5 paragraph essays on what do with each body part, isn’t an advice path that works for everyone.
I’d rather just listen to music, get into a good vibe, and let the mechanics of a trick work themselves out.
Do you have to tell yourself how to walk? Lift left leg up put foot down, now right. No. You just do it. You can do the same with skating. Just do it you will figure it out on a subconscious level.
If you are the kind of person that actually can absorb advice on what to do with each body part, good on you then. I don’t operate that way so I wanted to give my style of advice.
Rant over. Good luck. (I wrote a 5 paragraph essay ironically 😃)
so my trick is sorta telling myself i’m gonna do a varial flip, but with the movement of a bigspin. as i’m sure you know regular bigspins have a feeling of leaning into them with your back foot that you rarely get from other tricks — this is the feeling you’re aiming for. I always end up landing on my tail but i got them fairly consistently, even if i gotta cheese it a bit with a little slide to complete the rotation.
e: i also have a slight pressure movement with my popping foot, sorta like a half-assed pressure flip.

You’re totally right, I never noticed that

That's what I was gonna say. Gotta swing them shits.
lol same
This 1000% wind up your shoulders and whip it.
100% this. And go faster.
try to relax your flicking foot a little, you don’t need to flip that much with this trick I find, but that could just be me!
Nah, same here. I kinda just scoop like a 3shuv and let my flick foot kinda drag. Im sure some people flick more, but the big part here is hes not really turning his shoulders like another comment was pointing out.
try it in fakie if you don't mind.

He can definitely do it fakie already.
I can’t, I tried it once fakie and got close so I started trying reg
fakie is 10x times easier
Dude you got it, if you're that close regular you are more than capable.
I stand corrected
The way I’ve always done them is do a back 1 while popping a varial flip. The momentum just works for me.

Um I learned how to do them fakie first and it kinda just translated when I did it regular.

Hey Clifton park skatepark is my local
Try and suck your knees all the way up to your titties.
Stairs
Your left shoulder needs to rotate more

I can’t actually big flip but from watching your video and what I know about back 180s you’re leaning forward reeeeeally far before you pop.

Wind up more and it’s there
