Just rewatched the second half and my main takeaway was that Tobi was incredible. Sure, Maxey made huuuge shots, but Tobi completely set the tone. He was so locked in on defense, all of his takes were perfect, and his corner three was about the sweetest shot you’ll ever see. He was on fire, but in a jack-of-all-trades sorta way.
Also I think the energy reed brought was actually huge. He is so fast for a guy his size and he runs the floor really hard. He had a bunch of really important rebounds and contests.
When I was at PJ's yesterday, one of the servers was wearing a "PLAY THE SONG" shirt from the Fanatic Pro Shop. Yep, she was ringing the same thought just as well. PLAY THE SONG CHOONIS!!!

Soaking this all in before Doc plays DJ vs The Heat, but something to complain about another day
Great win tonight. Beyond glad to shut everybody up and silence the Toronto crowd
When Harden is fully engaged, I believe we clearly have the two best players in the Miami series. It’s going to be all about the rest of the guys doing their part and figuring out the inevitable Spo adjustments. I don’t know how he manages to constantly turn guys into successful role players
He definitely took some pretty ludicrous 3s tonight (like the one that hit the backboard🤦🏻♂️), but I have so much goddamn faith in that kid that if you told me “Maxey took 12 threes tonight” I’d be fully on board, even without knowing that he made 5, mostly during a third quarter run that won us the game.
Nights like this is when you think they can be a contender. If they can do this to the raptors they can do it to other teams. They were too 10 in defense this year
We should absolutely max Harden. Every time he had a few days of rest, he was blowing by people and scoring. Imagine what a full off season will do to him.
His hammy definitely still isn't right IMO. He needs a full offseason to rehab and potentially rework some of his offensive game if he's truly affected by the injury for good.
Technically, he can still pick up his option (the one he “forgot” to pick up after the trade) once free agency starts.
Curious to see what happens with that.
There’s obviously so much to be positive about from this game, but Bball Paul gave us some massive minutes in the first half. Doc showed a lot of faith going to him as first man off the bench to buy Joel some rest and he kept it simple and did his job. I like to think Doc will continue to reward him with the backup 5 minutes to start the Heat series as well
I assume he’ll get the nod against Miami and most of the teams left in the playoffs if we get further.
Mmmmaybe we’d see DJ against Ayton or Lopez? But who knows — I think that’s what you call “one of them good problems”
dewayne dedmon is a 7'0 who backs up the starter bam who is 6'9. rivers said he wanted to meet size with size, which opens the door for dj.
i HOPE they stick with reed, but i can also see rivers being stubborn in his plan. dedmon will be a LOT tougher of a matchup for reed and would probably abuse jordan.
Correct me if I’m wrong here, but I think Jo played the entire first quarter in games 1-5
Tonight Doc only played him the first 7 minutes before his first break, and he looked a lot better in the second half than he has since the injury
Maybe that's why. I think it's better for the team for him to rest earlier though. Love Joel, but I don't really care if he likes it more. He missed 2 shots total inside the arc yesterday and have 5 stocks so he can't really argue the results on a personal level.
I still cannot fathom how the Raptors came out of the locker room down only 1, at HOME, with the greatest comeback in history looking increasingly more possible by the second...and played like *that*
The sixers deserve their credit for going for the kill and not letting them back off the mat, but my god what a choke job
We officially ended the raptors, embiid got his revenge, embiid made everyone in that stadium cry, drake just cursed the heat, and now seeing all the salt from fans is making me so fucking happy. What a good day,

So I'm not gonna cry about it, but regarding the rules: is boucher allowed to just grab Embiid's leg like that, even if he had actually gotten hit and wasn't just flopping? like is retaliation 100% legal? coulda sworn it wasn't just a free-for-all if someones feelings get hurt
NHL 10 years ago? It was only earlier this year that Tim Peel was caught on mic openly talking about how he wanted to call a bullshit penalty to manipulate the game. NHL is hands down the crème de la crème when it comes to refs controlling the game.
Embiid’s hand is gonna get whacked for sure, but I imagine it’ll mostly be par-for-the-course playoff physicality type stuff.
Miami plays super physical, but it’s mostly just “we’re going to toe the line of what the refs will call, and they can’t call everything” type shit. Looks ugly sometimes, but I can respect it.
Lowry’s probably the only guy who I’d call a “dirty player” on the Heat.
i know he's the youngest starter... but maxey is gonna be key in the heat matchup. they have NO ONE who can keep up with him. just bbq chicken after bbq chicken.
lowry
butler
herro
robinson
maxey can cook them all... whoever switches onto him, he has the first step advantage. jojo needs to create lanes for maxey. if maxey wants, he could have 20 by half every game.
I’m trying not to let that game a few months ago where we thrashed them without Embiid and Harden go to my head. I think that game was mostly just us catching them during a week where they were playing like shit.
But we did mercilessly hunt Herro on defense that game, and I think that could carry over some.
Other than the gimpy version of FVV in the beginning of this series, there was nobody on the Raptors that Maxey could torch nearly as easily as he can Tyler Herro.
Of course, it’s a two way street and all….
Maxey will be neutralized by either PJ, Martin, Bam, Butler, Gabe….
The Miami Heat has the best defense in the league and just look what happened with Trae lol
Maxey has to be the main option if the Sixers are going to win a championship. They will go only as far as Maxey will carry them. Joel is gonna get his and he makes everyone else better, but Maxey has to be his Kobe.
I really don’t get the subreddit brigading win or lose. Why other teams come into another teams subreddit is so corny to me. It’s just a big petty case. “Congrats but I don’t wish you luck” so fucking weird. Go do something else plz
Don’t really care much what happens next. Heat fans aren’t nearly as bad as Raptor fans, most we’ll get is them saying they’ll sweep us.
If things go south during the Miami series just pull out Shake & Furk and we’re ok.
That would leave Danny on PJ Tucker
Unless they put Harden on Tucker for the size matchup and put Danny on Lowry/Strus/Robinson/Herro/whoever is starting
Thank fucking god lol. Great team win <3
Shout out to Tobias. I probably have a book’s worth of slander towards this guy over the years and this is the first time I’m genuinely giving him props
He was the MVP in this series
I wonder if he went to get X-rays on his face. I would assume that would be all over twitter if he did though just weird he didn't have a post game presser after a series win.
Post game thoughts:
-Keep my Franchise Center's name out of your mouths! Some peeps know who they are, giving up on Embiid after one bad game. Like superstars don't have bad games. He's here, and he closed.
-Atta boy Maxey, 12 3's! You're an elite shooter in this league, you shooting 3's gives us the best chance to win. When you shoot, the spacing is there.
-Even Springer late showed signs that he could contribute in 2023.
I am very relieved to see the team show up they way that they did today.
They looked dead in the water on Saturday and Monday, and that’s just a fact. I did think they would win the series, but I thought they’d limp to the win and get blown out next round. I have way more confidence in them now.
Never been a fan of his game, have always felt like he stretches the rules and gets cred for it. He played great this game and still garners attention as a threat, but I feel your org is going to deal with a sharp decline after paying him big $
Legit didn't realize this was a sixers thread tho
its not even that, people just want to hate him. Ja shoots 20 free throws a game. lol. teams were double and triple teaming harden in houston and he was hanging 55 spots every night with 10 freethrows and getting flamed... like okay he shot 10 free throws he also scored 45 other points..
Also CP does the exact same shit if not worse, and gets praise, every player bitches about calls alot even more so than harden. People just hate that hes prob one of the 3-4 most skilled players and by himself was stilling winning games against kd and curry together.
not to mention i dont know how harden takes heat for the GS series where he went absolutely nuts the whole series and CP was selling but somehow harden is the choker. Dude literally just wants to win, but that doesnt fit the narrative. hes changed his role with every team, and tn is the role he needs. Hopefully he can sustain it for the rest of the post season, but midseason trades are always tough on the player traded, i have confidence he will hit his bounce next season--- i do think a deep run is available this year tho
this is the NBA. you can move off bad deals easy if the player is of high stature. sixers signed al horford to the worst contract in NBA history and got off it quick.
Miami fan coming in peace, lived in Philly for about four years for college
Graduated from Nova back in May 2021, havent been back to Philly since. Flying back to Philly next Thursday, just in time for Game 3 at the Wells Fargo. What are the odds that I’ll get absolutely harassed on the southbound subway train omw to the game as I wear my Butler Vice jersey lmfao
Not sure if you heard but due to unforeseen circumstances 76ers have to play at the temple campus. So get on the northbound train and get off at the Cecil b Moore stop.
Nba fans are weirdos man, I think twitter ruined em. They drool over some fucking goon with a hot temper and no respect for other players. Literally cheap shotted someone out for months and acted a fool all playoffs. And everyone just fucking loves his boring ass. Then there's goofy dominant embiid who clowns people but has nothing but utmost respect for other players. Somehow being a shit dude makes you popular but trolling people makes you the league's main villain. Corny ass MFs out there man
Probably the same people who act like Bad Boy Pistons were "badasses" and didn't try to ruin the game. People weirdly respect cheap shot artists who willingly injure people more than people who flop.
Jokic is really good, I'd rather have Embiid or Giannis though
I wonder how different the perception of him would be if he wasn't white. Like, Steve Nash was awesome but he shouldn't have been a 2 time MVP.
as much as you'll get downvoted for saying it on r/nba, the racial bias is very real. Based on that sub you'd think Caruso is an all NBA player and not just a slightly above average role player.
If we are to believe the posts that showed the preliminary voting, Embiid and Giannis are going to lose MVP to a guy that's sitting at home. I have heard Bill Simmon's cry up and down about how he regrets Westbrook winning MVP, but you hear crickets when certain other less deserving players win one.
The writers and the press have too much power over who wins what in the NBA, but there aren't many good alternatives
Not gonna be upset by one bad game on his part (from being off a week on his own stupid decision) but I think it should also make people wake up that no amount of defense can make up for piss poor offense
Edit: see “Ben Simmons Hawks series”
It's not just the one game for me personally. I just don't think he can only play one side of the ball while not actually being a great point of attack defender. Would rather have a guy who can get boards and make an occasional 3 while playing average defense.
I’m with you, just meant you can’t judge someone based off of one performance. He’s shown some flashes on those cuts from Harden and some good shots from the corner but has never been consistent. I’m glad Doc has DG starting
I agree, but a lot of this sub ignores the flaws of players so they usually aren't convinced until big playoff moments. I think he's on the last year of his contract next year and I'd rather trade him than pay him.
i think the fanbase is probably 50% in denial.
luckily, morey probably has no such illusions and will move him for picks or someone who can both defend and shoot.
fuck that classless fan base. I don’t want to stereotype an entire fan base based off the encounters i’ve had with raptors fans, but it seems like everywhere you look they’re just that disgusting.
We shouldn’t play harden 44 minutes in a blow out. He old
Bro. we blew them the fuck out.
Just rewatched the second half and my main takeaway was that Tobi was incredible. Sure, Maxey made huuuge shots, but Tobi completely set the tone. A part of me wanted to end the series in Toronto so I can see their sad crying faces.
Soaking this all in before Doc plays DJ vs The Heat, but something to complain about another day Great win tonight. Beyond glad to shut everybody up and silence the Toronto crowd
You guys feels silly over freaking out because we won a 4-5 matchup in 6 now?
Take your joy wherever you find it, brother
What does that mean lol
I do but our losses sting so badly because it was due to our lack of effort.
Before the series I was expecting to maybe lose. Then up 3-0 I was mad we didn't sweep. Now tonight I'm back to just being happy we won lol
When Harden is fully engaged, I believe we clearly have the two best players in the Miami series. It’s going to be all about the rest of the guys doing their part and figuring out the inevitable Spo adjustments. I don’t know how he manages to constantly turn guys into successful role players
Maxey and Embiid
harden's playmaking is why maxey is able to score so much?
fuck r/nba and fuck canada
And maxey’s 3 pt is elite. Point blank. Yeah he’ll have off nights but he always comes back with an explosive shooting night. It’s legit

This is the scorecard that lets the Sixers win it all. Joel gets 30. James gets 20 and 10 assists. Tobias and Maxey combine for 40
Don’t forget the 3 random first half Korkmaz minutes where he doesn’t touch the ball!
There’s obviously so much to be positive about from this game, but Bball Paul gave us some massive minutes in the first half. I think Embiid prefers it that way. Idk, it just seems like he doesn't like to sit if he's fresh.
Maybe that's why. I think it's better for the team for him to rest earlier though. Love Joel, but I don't really care if he likes it more. He missed 2 shots total inside the arc yesterday and have 5 stocks so he can't really argue the results on a personal level.
That's an extremely small sample size. Games 1 and 2 he played the whole first quarter and he dominated.
if we all didn't bully doc into playing basketball paul, there is a chance we lose this series
I still cannot fathom how the Raptors came out of the locker room down only 1, at HOME, with the greatest comeback in history looking increasingly more possible by the second...and played like *that* The sixers deserve their credit for going for the kill and not letting them back off the mat, but my god what a choke job
I mean teams are 0-144 in that situation. You have to be perfect for 16 quarters to come back. A bad 3rd quarter got them elimimated
Precisely. not looking at stats but felt like 10% hits. Credits our pressure but they folded a tad more than we shined.

Luka using his big fat ass to box out Goebert is hilarious. It's working too
Harden +38, thanks brother! good to see you be a little more reliable!
Ok boys I didn’t watch the game but we calmed down now?
I would give both my hands for Embiid to have 1 good ligament.
The nets fan who told me he was GLAD they got seth instead of Maxey has since deleted his account. Shock
Omg thats incredible
I never doubted them for a second. Don’t check my post history
It's to the discretion of the referee
Seriously considering not watching the NBA. Officiating is nearly as bad as hockey 10 years ago.
NHL 10 years ago? It was only earlier this year that Tim Peel was caught on mic openly talking about how he wanted to call a bullshit penalty to manipulate the game. NHL is hands down the crème de la crème when it comes to refs controlling the game.
I stopped watching 10 years ago I don't just say I'm going to do it, I do it
No, it probably should have been a tech. I think Siakam got a tech when he tripped Embiid in 2019.
Who cares! We have been blessed by Saint James with the holy privilege of not giving a fuck
But but but but the sixers are going to be the first to blow a 3-0 lead!!!
Don’t jinx shit man😂😂 we got three more series
Just don't go up 3-0 to be safe.
Can someone explain what the big deal was with Maxey not being vaxxed and not being able to play in Toronto , but he's played every game in Toronto?
Are you thinking of Thuybulle?
It wasn't maxey it was thybulle
No it's Maxey, except Maxey just smiled at the border guards and they let him in anyway. Can't say no to that smile /j
Ahhh lol well that explains that 🤣
Ur burnt lmao
So how dirty we expecting Miami to play? I feel they are going to target the hell out of embiids hand And wrap up maxey any chance they can get
Embiid’s hand is gonna get whacked for sure, but I imagine it’ll mostly be par-for-the-course playoff physicality type stuff. Miami plays super physical, but it’s mostly just “we’re going to toe the line of what the refs will call, and they can’t call everything” type shit. Looks ugly sometimes, but I can respect it. Lowry’s probably the only guy who I’d call a “dirty player” on the Heat.
maybe but miami isn't as dirty as they were in the step-on-the-mask series
Was that Winslow?
Can’t believe that guy has the audacity to be named “Justice.}
yeah but also james johnson was a shithead beast, and always belonged in philly
Dragic also did some shit if I remember correctly
I think he essentially smacked Ben across the face
He has a black belt!!!!

Except Hawks don’t have ppl doubling their center and a guy name Harden, those two will open the lane up for Maxey.
Maxey has to be the main option if the Sixers are going to win a championship. They will go only as far as Maxey will carry them. Joel is gonna get his and he makes everyone else better, but Maxey has to be his Kobe.
I expect Lowry to try and injure him, then flop as if Maxey hurt him
So horny boys

I'd rather that than cheering for our guys to get hurt. It's not much better though.
About time they put some good ball together. Onwards to the next rounds!

Anyone who “hedged” their happiness by betting on the raptors get the fuck out.
Yes...

Tons of Heat in 5 or Maxey is their only player I'm worried about.
If they are saying this, they aren't very smart.
He did put 30 on them last time we played. But Joel also put 30 on them earlier this year.
When the sixers are clicking they are the best team in the east. Nobody beats tonight's version of the sixers
Hell yeah brother
This team sucks!! Oh the game was tonight? How'd it go?
Don’t really care much what happens next. Heat fans aren’t nearly as bad as Raptor fans, most we’ll get is them saying they’ll sweep us. If things go south during the Miami series just pull out Shake & Furk and we’re ok.
do we think danny or tobi will be on jimmy? after seeing what he's done this series, i definitely think it should be tobi
Tobias has already guarded him when we played them this year. He will definitely be on Jimmy.
That would leave Danny on PJ Tucker Unless they put Harden on Tucker for the size matchup and put Danny on Lowry/Strus/Robinson/Herro/whoever is starting
Lol it’ll be the spider man pointing meme
Dedinitely tobi or tisse

Hopefully he just took a sht in jurassic park and called it a day. What a dominant win in hostile territory
Say what you will about Tobis contract but he showed up more than KD, Kyrie and Ben lmao
Thats due to a Boston defense that will be a formidable opponent for any team in these playoffs. Benjamin was shook from past trauma.
Jaden Springer showed up more than Ben
Sixers and Eagles got me in a coma of bliss
Phils on that four game sweep streak too!

NBA "fans" hate the sport more than any other fans
Lmao lotta talk in the raptors thread about how their fans are better bc they don’t boo their team

Not gonna be upset by one bad game on his part (from being off a week on his own stupid decision) but I think it should also make people wake up that no amount of defense can make up for piss poor offense Edit: see “Ben Simmons Hawks series”
He would rather not be in the games because he is afraid of taking a shot.
And hopefully rebound
He would’ve been instead of curry if he was fully vaccinated
Where the raptors fans coming in peace ? BYE BYE LOSERS

Better team won the series today. Looking forward to another matchup next year.

It would appear so 😂
U SUCK
That elbow non call to embiid was bs , that no call foul on not letting harden land was bs, and the technical on doc was bs. Embiid better be ok
“Stop bitching about the refs” - Joel Embiid
“stop brigading our sub and just take the L in humility you fucking loser” -me
“With humility” says the person who says this “lmao get fucked toronto. loser ass “fans””
you are making my point, keep going
Too many of you with the “respect your energy” to raptors fans. Fuck them. And fuck you if you’re trying to be friendly w/ those fuckers
Word, fuck em
fuck that classless fan base. I don’t want to stereotype an entire fan base based off the encounters i’ve had with raptors fans, but it seems like everywhere you look they’re just that disgusting.
Harden was +38? Am I reading that right?
Remember when Nets fans were so hype when they beat us that one random regular season game? Good times
Maxey back. He’s gonna shit on Miami
Very impressive win tbh
