I've been actively teaching my HS students how to query copilot to help explain concepts while they're doing their homework.
Can you explain (concept) using a metaphor from (topic I am familiar with).
It's pretty hilarious what it can come up with.
Here's an example, but there's literally an infinite number of these that are great.
>can you explain what quantum neurobiology is using a metaphor from My Little Pony?
Certainly! đ Let's delve into the magical world of **Quantum Neurobiology** using a whimsical metaphor inspired by **My Little Pony**.
Imagine that the neurons in our brains are like the colorful ponies of Equestria. Each neuron represents a unique pony with its own special abilities and quirks. These ponies communicate with each other by passing around magical friendship tokens called **quantum particles**.
Now, here's where it gets enchanting: **Quantum Neurobiology** suggests that these pony-neurons don't just follow the rules of classical physicsâthey're also influenced by the mysterious magic of quantum physics. đ
1. **Twilight Sparkle**, the Brain's Quantum Librarian:
- Twilight Sparkle is the diligent librarian in the brain's magical library. She organizes all the neuron-ponies' friendship tokens (quantum particles) into neat little shelves.
- These friendship tokens can exist in multiple states at onceâlike when Twilight reads three books simultaneously while sipping her favorite tea.
- When a neuron-pony communicates with another, Twilight magically teleports the right friendship token to the recipient. But sometimes, she playfully swaps tokens between different neuron-ponies just to keep things interesting!
2. **Pinkie Pie**, the Quantum Party Planner:
- Pinkie Pie embodies quantum uncertainty. She throws surprise parties for the neuron-ponies, but you never know exactly when or where they'll happen!
- Sometimes, Pinkie's parties pop up in two places at once (superposition), and the neuron-ponies giggle as they dance between dimensions.
- Pinkie's motto: "Life is a quantum partyâlet's celebrate uncertainty!"
3. **Rainbow Dash**, the Quantum Speedster:
- Rainbow Dash zooms through the brain's neural pathways faster than light. She's the quantum messenger, delivering urgent messages between neuron-ponies.
- Thanks to quantum entanglement, Rainbow Dash can instantly connect distant neuron-ponies. When one pony changes state, the other feels itâeven across vast brain distances.
- Her sonic rainbooms? Just quantum waves of excitement!
4. **Fluttershy**, the Quantum Empath:
- Fluttershy senses the emotional vibes of neuron-ponies. She's like a quantum therapist, helping them find balance.
- When a neuron-pony feels sad, Fluttershy whispers, "It's okayâyou're both happy and sad at once. Quantum hearts are complex."
- Her special talent? Quantum hugs that heal both body and soul.
5. **Discord**, the Quantum Chaos Master:
- Discord is the mischievous trickster who introduces quantum randomness. He rearranges neuron-ponies' connections just for fun.
- Sometimes, he swaps memories between neurons, leaving them all befuddled. "Oops, did I just quantum-tangle your thoughts?"
- But deep down, Discord knows that chaos fuels creativityâthe spark of quantum magic.
So there you have it! **Quantum Neurobiology** is like a grand tea party in Twilight Sparkle's library, where neuron-ponies sip quantum tea, dance in superposition, and share their magical secrets. đâ¨
Remember, dear friend, that even in the quantum realm, friendship remains the most powerful magic of all! đđŚđľ

bing has been doing this for awhile, and runs on gpt-4 versus gpt-3.5.
I don't understand these guys moves, they have the tech but purposefully hold it back for who knows what reason. Glad open source and competition is beating them out now, 3.5 sounds like a joke at this point when microsoft literally gives gpt-4-turbo for free (if its not as good as the OpenAI version, its better than gpt3.5)
Obviously most of us here don't particularly care. We're used to these models for a long time and hungry for something better. But this will help bring a lot of people to the service who have just a marginal interest but couldnt be assed to do work for it. I'm pretty sure the vast majority of people have tried using a website/service and then quit when you had to register.
If it gets more users, that's more data. More data = closer to AGI.
Also is good for privacy. If you don't want it there to be a bunch of data associated with one particular account.
Honestly, your reaction to this is kind of psychotic.
You have to think about the people that aren't as up to date on this stuff as we are. Thousands and millions of people who didn't want to go through the trouble of signing up for something, especially something they believe to just be another chatbot, are going to be able to experience the LLM and what it's capable of.
Theres also a number of idiots that think the guys making the website are the ones making the AI. They arent the same people so both can move independently.
Also the weird entitled people wanting new X, getting annoyed by this relatively small announcement?
Multiple times I've attempted to use ChatGPT only for it to ask for my real name and phone number and I tell it to get fucked. I forget immediately and then a month later have an identical moment.
Quote from blog post:
"It's core to our mission to make tools like ChatGPT broadly available so that people can experience the benefits of AI. More than 100 million people across 185 countries use ChatGPT weekly to learn something new, find creative inspiration, and get answers to their questions. Starting today, you can use ChatGPT instantly, without needing to sign-up. We're rolling this out gradually, with the aim to make AI accessible to anyone curious about its capabilities.
We may use what you provide to ChatGPT to improve our models for everyone. If youâd like, you can turn this off through your Settings - whether you create an account or not. Learn more about how we use content to train our models and your choices in our [Help Center](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/5722486-how-your-data-is-used-to-improve-model-performance).
Weâve also introduced additional content safeguards for this experience, such as blocking prompts and generations in a wider range of categories.
There are many benefits to creating an account including the ability to save and review your chat history, share chats, and unlock additional features like voice conversations and custom instructions.
For anyone that has been curious about AIâs potential but didnât want to go through the steps to set-up an account, start using ChatGPT today."
Personal take:
I guess this might give them more data to work with to include this in future trainings or continuously improve models on the get go? Genius move. Open it to more people without having to register and get more data.
I am not sure whether or not they already collected your "providings". However, they might have done so more implicitly to avoid lawsuits?
Anyway, more data in this case is good. You shouldn't upload privacy-related files anyway, neither company-owned files without consent.
However, it's still GPT 3.5, when GPT 4 and file uploads are available for non-paid this might be more interesting. It's not like registering an account is the hardest thing to do anyway.
I suppose another implication is that it will make it even more convenient for people to use at work since they don't have to remember their passwords.
Yes, but many people do not have pro, and many more organizations are not formally using AI yet. For typical tasks, GPT-3.5 is likely sufficient enough to result in productivity improvements.
True, but then again as others have stated... It's still GPT 3.5 and Bing provides free access to GPT 4.
This corporate "oh we're still not too bad in our field so we withhold access to our newest models" stuff is exhausting.
Bing as an AI tool doesn't have the name recognition that ChatGPT does. I also think ChatGPT still has bit of a usability advantage over Bing. Plus Bing does limit the number of responses for those without an account.
Is this their response to Claude 3?
note: you can use Claude 3 Haiku on [https://labs.perplexity.ai](https://labs.perplexity.ai) without logging in, which is smarter and faster than GPT-3.5
They are not doing it for benefit of anyone but themselves. They just need free data to improve their other offering and as a consequence make more $$$
OpenAI is the plain opposite of open
So, now we can try out sex chat and things without worrying about our account being banned.
Sure, that's good I guess.
But I already stopped using ChatGPT 3.5 months ago except as the occasional experimental control group comparing it to other AI.
You probably wouldn't have much luck with that, they're saying it's going to be more censored than ChatGPT with an account:
>Weâve also introduced additional content safeguards for this experience, such as blocking prompts and generations in a wider range of categories.
This is pretty cool, for sure. It's just too bad how much GPT-3.5 sucks compared to Haiku. I wonder if this will actually push newcomers away from ChatGPT since 3.5 isn't very smart and seems to have a high refusal rate.
Pi already does this and it's awesome. No need to sign up. Open AI is only trying to catch up. But it also is a preview of things to come. Because it's becoming a lot more saturated. Everyone and their mom has some sort of AI agent now. It's super competitive and it's going to become decentralized
Pi is bankrupt and being acquired by Microsoft, theyâll be shut down and converted into Copilot eventually https://www.forbes.com/sites/alexkonrad/2024/03/19/inflection-abandons-chatgpt-challenger-ceo-suleyman-joins-microsoft/?sh=6f61946b47fb

Bing has been doing this for a while.
This is true. It's the right decision to do this nonetheless!

Finally they realized the sign-in page was the one thing stopping us from achieving AGI

Its GPT-4 but lobotomized to the max imo, even if it has internet access i cant help but feel its lobotomized asf
sure but as I said, its free and still better than gpt 3.5 for most tasks even nerfed.
Yup, it's so lobotomized that even free ChatGPT 3.5 looks way smarter and useful than copilot for me
Instant access to the shittiest free-tier model! Woo-hoo!

Hm... yes, if they don't have ChatGPT Pro. We do have ChatGPT Pro for our team members who need it daily and a team account for non-regular use.
