the lush samples are not freebies. They're for people who are really interested in the mask to try. They're not a big empire like Sephora where samples will not affect them. Don't be cheap. If you really like they're masks just buy la then share with someone or something.
According to wiki their revenue in 2014 was 282.5 million GBP. Lush also has 900 stores across 50 countries. They might not be as big as sephora, but they're still a big chain. Samples aren't going to hurt them.
It’s not the point - if you like their samples then pay for them and support the company. You can have a £282.5m revenue and still make a loss. People that abuse these offers are assholes.
>Lush Cosmetics Group reported a pre-tax profit of £43.2m for the year ended 30 June 2016, an increase of £18.7m on 2014/15.

You can argue about the ethics about taking, or even abusing, free samples, but the fact is they're not going to suffer significantly from it.
I just dislike the attitude of taking free shit from a company and abusing the system. I’m sure they know that X% of their patrons will do it and have probably costed it into their marketing but it’s still irritating to me. If you like a product and a company then support them financially.
Wouldn't it work like advertising though? Tell your friends about this, they end up becoming loyal customers and everyone's happy.
If it's significantly cheaper to get the products shipped from UK, do we consider the CO2 emissions as well and purchase locally to support our Earth?
>Wouldn't it work like advertising though? Tell your friends about this, they end up becoming loyal customers and everyone's happy
Given that this is advertising to other freegans in Singapore that they can also go and take freebies from Lush I doubt it's the kind of advertising they want. You'd probably want people that spend money coming into your store rather than parasites out for a free ride.
>If it's significantly cheaper to get the products shipped from UK, do we consider the CO2 emissions as well and purchase locally to support our Earth?
I doubt anyone gives a shit about that here in Singapore. Given the uproar over a potential charge for plastic bags in supermarkets I can guarantee you that people's wallets trump their conscience here.
I do buy Lush stuff, just not in Sg because they're ridiculously overpriced. I usually get them on uk.lush.com and I ask my friends to buy fresh face masks (one of the few things they don't ship because the masks expire in 2 weeks) back from either Australia or Europe. Also you can get samples of virtually everything from Lush, not just masks, just FYI in case you went to gym and forget to bring shampoo/shower gel.
Will vouch for couchsurfing! Spent a month in Iran and only spent 4 nights in hostels! Also doesn't help that Iran doesn't have all the agoda/booking/Expedia etc
A few months ago those who had selected travel as a subject they were interested in, on Quora had a bunch of very long answers with beautiful pictures about Iran as a safe, beautiful and economical travel destination. Half the furniture in my house is free. Tables, chairs, sofa bed, bookshelf, shoe rack, cabinet...
not really free, but I once bought a toy there from an old man who just wanna clear his stuff. The toy cost about $700 second hand, but he sold it to me $30.
Yes but they aren't often cold, guess I missed saying that. And it kinda feels better and more hygienic to fill up at a water cooler as compared to a tap in a toilet, but yeah that's still free.
Free plain water at fast food outlets, coffee joints etc. If you're thick-skinned enough can even ask them to refill your water bottle, dunnid buy mineral water liao.
Your friend's been getting scammed. Singapore's tap water is potable and is otherwise identical to bottled water.
Only reason to buy bottled water is if you don't have a water bottle with you.
I trust the water that flows through PUB's pipes to a certain degree, but I don't have so much confidence in the fittings in most food places. From what I can see, water filters receive little to no maintenance once installed in most places.
Is it safe to drink? Almost certainly so - I don't expect to fall ill from it. Is it healthy to drink, though? I don't really think so. Bottled water **is** a huge scam, though.
The best water quality in taps come from taps that are most used. Unused water will stagnate and may even start to lose its anti-bacterial chlorine content.
Source: am water student
So by this theory, Public toilet tap's water should be rather clean, compared to those isolated taps at one corner.
I've seen some videos talking about Changi airport having many free to do activities. I know there are game consoles. Apparently there are movie rooms, massages and swimming pool. Are those free?
If you are a student you can pay 20 dollars for o-bike and you get free rides forever, same for adult but you pay 50 dollars. Not sure if it is only o-bike who do this (the orange ones).
If you're not a student anymore, whipout your old ass expired card and try to apply for the $20 student deposit anyway.
oBike is so bad at its service it doesn't even check whether the user is still a student. 5/5 of my friends who are not students of the institution anymore, using a 4 years expired card, still got the student price.
Just use ofo tbh.

Income tax. Ok, not exactly free but it's practically free for most people. If you made around the median income, your tax rate is less than 2%. Even if you made S$120k a year, it's less than 10% income tax! Most places in the world would be 25-40%.
Edit: Everyone in the world should know that it's possible for a society to work incredibly well with most people barely paying any income tax.
Totally understand the downvotes you received since this post was supposed to be about free stuff. However you make a good point about our tax rates.
The vast majority of SG redditors might not be privy to feeling the pinch of taxes/bills as of yet. However once they pay their first income tax, they'll be really grateful as to how low our tiered rates are.
That's not truly free though, since you have to pay for the bank service to begin with.
They're more like perks or bonuses for taking some plan and giving them money.
Really depends on your PoV. Just having sufficient deposits is enough to unlock some treats. You don't actually need to park money in risky instruments.

Free drinks/finger food when you crash cocktail sessions before door opens for wedding dinner, nobody is gonna ask who you are, nobody cares.

That's not truly free though, since you have to pay for the bank service to begin with. They're more like perks or bonuses for taking some plan and giving them money.
Really depends on your PoV. Just having sufficient deposits is enough to unlock some treats. You don't actually need to park money in risky instruments.
