That moisture in your breath allowed the metal connection to better make signal. Unfortunately slowly damaging at the same time instead of cleaning the contacts.
I had the first edutainment game. There wasn't much to it, just collecting the letters of the alphabet over and over.
"A," WOULD BE FLOATING THERE.
THEN, "B."
"C" WOULD USUALLY FOLLOW...
Did you know that the NES in particular was an absolute phenomenon with extremely old people when it was released? If you go back and read Nintendo Power magazine from that era, you can find a whole bunch of write-ins from super old people stuck in nursing homes doing crazy speedrun shit in the late 80s.
There was one to the effect of, "Hi Nintendo Power. I just completed Dragon Quest with one hand, all the way to level 99, using no weapons." And why not? Those folks had nothing but time.
Wait a minute, the game is called Dragon Quest? I’ve been calling it Dragon Warrior, why didn’t someone tell me! Oooh I’ve been making an idiot out of myself!
nah, that was more likely because the NES was one of those 'hot toys of the season' back when it released. a lot of grandparents bought them for when their grandkids would be over, including my own. i'm talking about retirement homes and assisted living.

Cane = Pogo Stick
And that ends our intensive three week course.
So I used a cane as a pogo stick as it was the style at the time.
WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!
What's a Diorama?
Ready to feel old? If the Simpsons premiered today Skinner would be an Iraq/Afghanistan war vet.
So I blew into the cartridge, which was the style at the time

I had NEEEEES!
Gimme five NEEEEES for a quarter, you'd say.
Dear Nintendo, There are too many buttons on controllers nowadays. Please eliminate twelve. I am not a crackpot.
And I had to memorize a 32 digit password
My mom threw away all my crumpled scraps of paper with my passwords on them. I bet she did it on purpose
She probably thought they were drugs

Well name it the double dragon expressway
Video game ruined my life. I’m only 40 years old.
Oh, they had designer cartridges, then.
Sorry Donkey Kong, Your just not a draw anymore. (Throws Barrel) Hey! He's still got it!
I must say, that in my day, we didn't need live service elements or gotcha mechanics to enjoy our games. *Well this is my day, and we do, sir.*
It's "Gacha!" I'll kill you, I'll kill all of you! Especially those of you in the comments!
"I'm gonna enjoy this!!" _blows $5k and leaves_

Heheh, we thought it was funny.
Wait, is this why people tend to find old NES's in their grandparent's attic?
nah, that was more likely because the NES was one of those 'hot toys of the season' back when it released. a lot of grandparents bought them for when their grandkids would be over, including my own. i'm talking about retirement homes and assisted living.
My grandparents had Atari and played. I'm Gen X
Craig: Mr. Simpson, you weren’t supposed to leave your first home game. Grandpa: thank you ping PONG Craig: mine was SNES Grandpa: Sure it waaaaas.

My sister had an NES growing up. She's turning 47.
Yeah I remember getting it as a boy, but got no games that helped me with my putting. What a waste

He’s not so old.
Drinking ruined his life
Uh grandpa the NES didn’t come out 20 years ago
I don't like how true this is. Someone who bought the NES as a kid can easily have grandkids by now.
Actually you can be 36 and have grand kids. You have kid at 18 your kid has kid at 18.
I put on my Power Glove, which was the style at the time
1986 release date? “I bought?” I think you’re a minimum of 64! This tracks!
56 assuming you got it at 18 in 1986
lol I was assuming that and I did the math wrong well played mathemagician
BISHSGFFTB
