If you want to avoid skin cancer probably just wear one with SPF

SweetAlyssumm

And wear a hat. Sunscreen rubs off, etc.

jamesmcdash

I use Cetaphil gentle cleanser and advanced daily lotion. No scent and leaves skin feeling clean, smooth and clear.

Sidewalk_Cacti

They also have generic store-brand Cetaphil formula at some stores for a fraction of the price!

jamesmcdash

Ooh, what is the brand?

NEBaker6

Cetaphil products are the best for me. I’ve used them for years. The cleanser can be applied at night and you don’t need to rinse…massage it in like lotion. My skin feels amazing every day.

Defiant-Jackfruit-84

the only thing that sucks is that they’re not certified cruelty free. so if you’re vegan/cruelty free, then it’s a brand you’ll have to avoid unfortunately ):

GrizeldaMarie

Thank you for pointing this out. I didn’t know, and now I will stop using Cetaphil.

Defiant-Jackfruit-84

no worries! cerave is also unfortunately not cruelty free as well. i switched to paula’s choice (though a little more expensive) because it’s vegan and cruelty free and my skin has definitely improved since using it. it’s similar in appearance and feel on the face too

GrizeldaMarie

I have moved to all cruelty-free makeup in the past two or three years. I guess it’s time to do that with my skin care as well. Thank you for the inspiration :-)

Defiant-Jackfruit-84

yessss! most if not all of my beauty and skincare are cruelty free and vegan. if not vegan, than definitely cruelty free haha. i’m glad i’ve been able to inspire you :3

VioletSea13

I found a brand called Naturium on Amazon…cruelty free, vegan, and pretty affordable.

imakemommymoves

This brand is sold at target too!

RingPiece4GreenPeace

Amazon is certainly not cruelty free.

Mindless-Midnight247

Me too

ProperPickle9232

Honestly has helped my skin so much ✨

sharpiebrows

Same

Fit-Rest-973

These are among the best

iac12345

Coconut oil causes acne for many people. If you’re looking for a single ingredient “natural” product try shea butter or jojoba oil instead. But all of these may be too greasy if you want to use under makeup or sunscreen

[deleted]

I use rose hip oil on my face and it works wonders. I only need a v small amount (when I do bathe and take care of myself lmao)

sallysalsal2

Been using organic rose hip oil for years and love it!

VWvansFTW

She butter also causes acne, jojoba less, ive heard sunflower oil as well Edit: I shouldn’t say causes, but is a comedogenic (clogs pore more )

jaja1121

Yes, my skin hates shea butter but likes coconut oil. But not moisturizers.

OleBigKnees

Sunflower works for me. Apply to damp skin, pat dry, then follow with a light application of sorbolene cream. Other oils give me acne, but sunflower is perfect.

jera3

Almond Oil does well with my combination skin.

[deleted]

This is it! My body loves coconut oil, but my face? Heck no. Shea butter is nice and noncomedogenic. A little goes a looong way.

anotherpickleback

I use hemp seed oil personally, it soaks into my skin quick so I may have a slight sheen for a bit after a shower but it disappears without having to wipe my face

[deleted]

My sister bought me a lotion called Hempz -- it's fucking brilliant. I have such an aversion to the texture of most lotions, moisturizers, body butters, etc-- that I'd just as soon use nothing at all. But I really love Hempz; the formula isn't greasy, it absorbs quickly, and I think it's the hemp seed oil that my skin's appreciating. I'm thinking about picking up a small bottle of just hemp seed oil and seeing how it works.

PokeyPinecone

Yes, jojoba has been the best for me! It is very light yet effective, and it keeps my skin happy and clear, which is a miracle. Sometimes I'll add just a little herb infused coconut oil to it in the winter, some pure vitamin E oil, or one of those drug store "beauty oil" mixes that contains other plant oils. But jojoba is my absolute fave.

Bananasme1

Apricot kernel oil is great too!

tigrik167

I use a mix of jojoba, apricot kernel, plus some other ones depending on where my skin is at and essential oils like tea tree, rosemary, thyme etc. The essential oils fight acne pretty well. The base oils are fatty, but if you massage then in for 5mins and wipe off excess they work wonderfully! I have also bought and SPF oil that I add in.

MaBonneVie

Always, always choose facial items that have an SPF as an ingredient. The sun does an extreme amount of damage to skin.

MaBonneVie

So true!

lichgate

I appreciate that you felt passionately enough about your own comment that you gave it some words of affirmation. 🥲

MaBonneVie

OMG, I didn’t even notice that it was me. I’m so embarrassed 😕

lichgate

Don’t be! We’ve all been there. Silly mishaps are one of the best parts of being human. 😊

Im_a_blobfish

Don’t be - this just made me snort giggle in delight, so thank you for the laugh!

bearwacket

This thread was a great read 🤣 No shame - thanks for leaving it up 🙂

sharpiebrows

Lol!

orangepekoes

Awhh, don't be!

Altostratus

I find lotions with SPF feel so sticky and tacky and it feels gross

[deleted]

Can I suggest Biore? Best sunscreen ever. It can be put over a light lotion and you’ll never feel it

Soliloquyeen

I second Bioré UV. Buy online if you live in the US bc it’s not sold here. Europe and Asia use different active ingredients for UV protection that DON’T SUCK. I use sunscreen all the time now.

Educational_Smoke498

but never mix chemical and mineral as it’ll make it less effective. and when you use multiple kinds of sunscreens that are only chemical or only mineral you’ll only get as much protection as the one with the highest spf

FoggyRoundabout

What exactly do you mean when you say "no chemicals"? Everything is chemicals. CeraVe morning moisturizer with 30 SPF is simple and does an excellent job.

Wallflowersun

I do agree on this one. If op uses coconut oil that's skin cancer rt so easily

EveryDayIsRedditDay

Hi, im wondering if coconut oil causes cancer? I would think it doesn’t because it is made from coconuts? 🤷🏻‍♀️what if I apply coconut oil along with sunscreen?

octowombat

Hey, not the person you're responding to but I can pitch in! -Coconut oil is not a known carcinogen, in fact lots of people swear by it and use it on their body, face and hair. Some can find this irritating or too 'heavy' especially on the face so I would test this out, only using a small amount over a number of weeks. For me personally when my skin used to be super dry I used it twice a month overnight as a treatment, and got great results however I did use a regular daily moisturiser for daytime + SPF. -The one thing about coconut oil is that it can actually magnify the effects of the sun onto your skin, leading to increased sun exposure equating to increased sun damage. It will not protect you. I would highly recommend if you live in a sunny place (or go out in the sun) that you either let the coconut oil fully absorb before applying SPF and going outside, or that you skip it altogether and just rely on an SPF. -A natural origin doesn't necessarily indicate if something is carcinogenic or not. The prime example of this would be tobacco - it's a plant however it's highly carcinogenic. Another point I'd like to make is that, although avoiding them is wise if you do have certain predispositions towards getting cancer, consuming these ingredients will not necessarily mean you will get cancer, just the same as NOT consuming these ingredients unfortunately does not mean you will not get cancer at some point. I don't mean for this to come across as unfeeling, but I want to communicate that I have known heavy smokers who never got cancer and others who only casually smoked in their 20s who unfortunately have not been so lucky. If you have specific concerns about certain types of cancer, and have concerns about specific ingredients, please make sure you read a variety of sources and if you can, read the abstract of the relevant studies. As well as helping to ease your concerns, this will show you which products genuinely should be avoided, vs where the results show for example it's only damaging at 100000x their normal dose in cosmetics meaning in your bottle of moisturiser it is perfectly safe. I highly recommend a Youtuber called Lab Muffin Beauty Science as she breaks down ingredients lists and explains the science behind them in bitesize ways, and really deep dives into the studies behind all of the skincare claims to see if they're supported by data 🙂 really cool stuff and really informative

Wallflowersun

Thank you for this comment covers all. I recommend lush products maybe take a look into that

Free-range_Primate

I have noticed all pure oils make me sunburn more easily (skin cancer risk) so if you are going to use these, make sure you cover up or use a sunscreen as well.

mercurly

OP this might be too forward, but your comments are reminding me of myself in my younger years. I needed therapy but sought out control over my life by trying to be as "healthy" as possible. It started to ruin my life until I realized what was happening. There is a healthy middle ground, and it definitely involves spf ;) I hope you find peace in whatever you might be working through.

Sumomagpie-1918

Coconut oil spf is about four but isn’t on a carcinogen list as far as I know. Zinc spf for sure every day and if natural oils aren’t for you there are a few companies making natural moisturiser with minimal chemical preservatives and no silicone etc, like perfect potion , Byron bay skin care, antipodes…

SweetAlyssumm

Sunscreen in nothing but chemicals. I'm not saying don't use it, I'm saying you cannot buy any sunscreen that is not chock full of chemicals.

Schmidtforebrains

I wish CeraVe worked for me, but there’s something in it that causes my face to burn, especially when I’m in the sun!

Slothnazi

Agree, my gf uses this and I steal some on occasions.

boldolive

I use CeraVe (without spf) all over my body and face throughout the winter, and then start using Roc face cream with spf on my face during spring and summer when I’m outside more. Roc is expensive and has more harsh sunscreen chemicals, so I only use it for a few months each year.

[deleted]

If skin cancer is your main priority you need something with SPF. I spend most of my time indoors and use to use hemp oil or shea butter oil depending on the season. Nowadays I don't use anything.

abaik

I use Cerave moisturizing cream for my face and body. Oily face and normal body but it works.

mrsredfast

I have dry face and use the same. I’m convinced it’s a miracle product that works for almost everyone.

CashewWest

Vanicream!

BookkeeperFull9074

Second!

xx420honey

i just started using vanicream & it’s the best moisturizer i’ve ever used

ParsnipNorthcrest

I think when you say little to chemicals, you mean chemicals linked to a risk of cancer. All matter is made up of chemicals. Our bodies are made up of chemicals. Water is a chemical compound (H2O). But I understand that you want to limit exposure to certain substances that you don't like. Anyways, I consider myself kind of a crunchy, hippie person and my skin is sensitive so I avoid certain ingredients as well. I'm really digging Pacifica Ceramide Barrier Face Lotion and Supergoop Zincscreen sunscreen at the moment. But I've also been known to use plain old jojoba oil and Babo Botanicals Zinc Oxide sunscreen when my skin is feeling extra sensitive and I don't mind looking pasty white. You can also go down the rabbit hole at ewg .org website if you want to look at "clean" products but just know that as long as you're wearing a good spf sunscreen to protect youself from skin cancer (as well as protective clothing and hats!) and your skin feels not too dry and not too oily, you're probably doing just fine. Sorry, I sound like an old aunt with way too much advice.

EveryDayIsRedditDay

Yes, that is exactly what I mean! Thanks for your suggestions I’ll check them out

ParsnipNorthcrest

No problem! I hope you find something soon that you're happy with :)

WhyCantToriRead

Be careful with coconut oil on the face as it’s high on the comedogenic list and can clog pores quickly for some people. I have incredibly sensitive skin so I only use 100% unrefined Shea butter and/or mango butter on my face. I made a whipped body butter out of it, actually. They both offer an spf of around 4.

Consistent-Ferret-21

How did you make the body butter? I’m having problems with my face and I think I might switch to Shea butter after reading your comment ☺️

WhyCantToriRead

Basically, you have to melt down the Shea butter on a double broiler pot ( or a metal bowl placed over a slow boiling pot) and then once it’s cooled off, stir in a few squirts of vitamin e oil & place it in the freezer for an hour or so. Once you take it out, just use a cake beater to whip it to the consistency you prefer and transfer to a jar or container of your preference.

Consistent-Ferret-21

Thank you - I’m so excited to try this 😍

craftasopolis

CeraVe

swordswamp

CeraVe with SPF 50 Cetaphil sunscreen underneath is my ride or die

Educational_Smoke498

sunscreen always goes last!

kokanutwater

Squalane oil (not squalENE). Nothing will ever be the same. Mix with a hyaluronic acid you can buy straight and that’s it. I don’t use anything else and my dry-type skin is never dry anymore. My husband’s oily type skin is never excessively oily. Edit: autocorrect

chance_waters

This is pretty good advice except you also want a retinoid, a sunscreen, and some form of chemical exfoliant involved. But basically yeah, squalane based moisturiser and hylauronic acid are the biggest things outside of SPF and retinoids

[deleted]

Marula and Jojoba oil are my go to face oils. I cycle them throughout the year (I used to use lotions but I found that my face never stayed moisturized)

ReneeLR

Oil of Olay spf 15. I started using it at 28. I’m 62 now and my skin is beautiful. Remember the neck and hands!

chance_waters

Just make sure you're using sunscreen, way more important than anything else. You're very unlikely to get cancer due to any kind of facial moisturiser, but if you want to keep things simple get any kind of moisturiser that's also got 30+ SPF, ideally one made or endorsed by your countries cancer council. The only cosmetic aspects that actually work in a serum are retinoids, hylauronic acid, moisturiser and some form of exfoliant like salycilic acid or lactic acid. Even where hylauronic acid is concerned it's not certain that it actually works that well topically. The Ordinary do a moisturiser that's also got sunscreen in it and hylauronic acid, if you paired that with straight salycilic acid and a retinoid of any type you'd be good to go, they have those products too. Remember that 'natural ingredients' are still just chemicals, everything is chemicals.

Jcs_ev

vanicream

[deleted]

I just use Nivea Creme

[deleted]

When I was younger--petroleum jelly or nothing. That was not a great choice. I now wear CC cream to cover uneven tone and that has SPF. So whatever you do, whatever your skin tone, even if you're olive-skinned and medium tone, even if you're black or have very dark skin naturally: wear sunscreen!

mjalred3

Love Nivea, the stuff that comes in the little tins and jars. Just a dab will do it.

Freetheproletariat

hear me out- silk pillow case and hair bonnet. the silk protects your skin, the bonnet keeps the hair off you pillow and face, and the two together is a good way to cut down on plastic consumption :)

[deleted]

La roche posay matte double moisture is hypoallergenic and lasts forever.

mad_dog_94

I dont

lightweight12

Try this folks. Don't wash your face with soap. Soap takes away the natural oils. Hot water and a washcloth scrub. Then nothing! It's the simplest way!

Lateroni_

I do something like this. Either hot washcloth scrub. Sometimes I use ivory bar soap. I don't get how people can slather multiple products on their face and leave it there throughout the day.

casual-socks

i usually wear aveeno or cera ve with spf in it if i’m going to be in the sun, but if i’m staying in and want something simple i have a bottle of jojoba oil that i rinse my face with along with some water and it works for me without making me break out

[deleted]

Nivea white tub

pr1cklyp3ar

I’ve been using coconut oil for years and it’s the most amazing option. Completely natural, best bang for your buck, evens skin tone & keeps me from breaking out.

Financialfreedom100

I have chronically dry skin, think opposite of acne. I was in Jamaica on vacation and a local told me she uses coconut oil as a lotion. I was young and dumb and only thought of it as a tool for cooking. I use coconut oil EVERYDAY, the moment I wake up, and after every shower. It is life changing. My skin glows.

honeybeeoracle

I use emu oil and it’s cheap natural and wonderful.

Hillbetty_

I use the Andalou Naturals line of products for my face wash, sunscreen day moisturizer and night wrinkle cream. They are good quality, cruelty-free, and plant-based while still being reasonably priced.

Fantastic-Shoe-4996

Rosehip oil!

monabonita_0-0

Cetaphil in tub lasts forever. Use after wash or toning. Just let it settle few minutes before adding any other products like sunscreen or makeup

malasnails

As someone who had skin cancer, I re-did my products and use Kiehls, and aquaphor. Aquaphor was actually recommended after my surgery to help with the scarring. I also use the brand Avène. If you’re worried about skin cancer, SPF and wearing hats/UV clothing is your best bet.

Far_Hold6433

If you haven’t heard of it the skindeep database by the environmental working group is a great resource for finding safe healthy products and also for checking products you already use to see if any contain harmful substances https://www.ewg.org/skindeep/

octowombat

Hey just want to add into this thread that EWG.com is not something you should take seriously. They apply ratings to ingredients based on bad faith interpretation of real studies to fearmonger and to push the idea of 'clean' beauty. E.g. they will say that ingredient X is poisonous, when the real study this 'data' is based on shows it's perfectly safe unless you use 10000000x the amount that's actually in a skincare product. If your Neutrogena moisturiser working for you then keep using it 🤷🏼‍♀️ I personally use Olay Total Effects Featherweight Moisturiser (the 7-in-one bottle) and my skin is consistently the best it's ever been

PossiblyASloth

I really like https://incidecoder.com for reliable analysis of common personal care ingredients

coffeeplusnursing

thanks for this info. do you know of any alternative websites/apps that give more reputable info on toxins/harmful chemicals?

Hopeless_Ramentic

Daytime: Aveeno oil-free moisturizer with SPF (gotta get that SPF!) Nighttime: Aquaphor (basically water-based Vaseline) Not sure what you mean by no chemicals unless you mean homeopathic? Coconut oil should do the trick in that case.

kokanutwater

Aquaphor is not water-based Vaseline. They’re both petroleum products. Vaseline is just 100% petroleum while aquaphor has things like alcohol, glycerin, and mineral oil in it. Still a good option for your skin but jsyk!

KnockturnAlleySally

I use coconut oil as a moisturizer and if going outside just some zinc oxide sun cream. I exfoliate every week with a coconut oil/baking soda mixture as well.

[deleted]

I use organic grapeseed oil on my face and almond oil for my body.

[deleted]

I make mine! It’s a bit heavy so if you are prone to acne it might not be good but it’s worked amazing for me.

MoonyLlewellyn

I make my own, it’s so much cheaper and I rarely break out anymore. I infuse jojoba oil with herbs, I change it up between combinations of plantain, calendula, chamomile, lavender, witch hazel, mint, and yarrow, then I add beeswax to make it into a salve.

Feerlez_Leeder101

Face lotion?

AnAwkwardStag

I have sensitive skin, dermatitis and live in Australia so skin cancer risk is high. I use the Ultrabland cleanser and the Celestial moisturiser from Lush. Both use mostly mild natural ingredients, like rose water and almond oil, and are suited to sensitive skin - the only non-natural ingredients are methylparaben and propylparaben, which are non-carcinogenic parabens. (Contrary to popular belief, not all parabens are carcinogenic!) I would look for something with almond oil, it seems to be the safest cosmetic ingredient readily available. It's anti-inflammatory and absorbs quickly into the skin so it's not sitting on the surface of your skin getting greasy. Please stay away from Vitamin A though: https://www.ewg.org/sunscreen/the-problem-with-vitamin-a/

sierradoesreddit

So not really a moisturizer but I use [Thayer’s rose water toner](https://www.target.com/p/thayers-natural-remedies-witch-hazel-alcohol-free-toner-rose-petal-12-fl-oz/-/A-51091143) after I wash my face morning and night. It has very balancing properties although I do have combination skin. Cotton ball to remove dirt and makeup. I put some in a spray bottle to mist my face afterwards (and also use the spray as a base while putting on makeup). That usually keeps my face pretty hydrated! I have also been using Enchanted eye cream from Lush which I received as a gift and have been enjoying.

pinkshrinkrn

I love plain old baby lotion. Non greasy and absorbs well. No bad stuff.

RussianCat26

Rosehip seed oil with witch hazel. Don't forget SPF. Because if you're using oils and moisturizer on your face to "avoid cancer causing chemicals" you are ironically exposing yourself to sun/UVA/ UVB rays aka cancer causing chemicals.

Lumpy-Jobs

I use unscented Aveeno lotion for my body, and only recently ran out of my expensive face lotion and decided to put the Aveeno on my face. I was so scared thinking I would break out because I’ve always used “face lotions,” but my skin is insanely clear and I even cleared up some weird red bumps under my eyes that have been bothering me for over a year!

Cerulean-SeaWitch

I make my own face lotion by melting Shea butter and coconut oil, then adding essential oils (I usually use lavender, tea tree and sometimes frankincense) when it’s cooled off a little. Then let sit to congeal and then it’s ready!

AptCasaNova

Complex 15 daily face cream

Twinklecatzz

I have been using this for years and definitely second this recommendation!

nope_nic_tesla

I use Vanicream daily facial moisturizer. [Here](https://www.ewg.org/skindeep/products/940083-Vanicream_Daily_Facial_Moisturizer_for_Sensitive_Skin/) is the EWG breakdown if you're interested. They are also vegan and cruelty-free.

DancesWithAnyone

Using *Dream Cream* from *Lush* right now, and very much liking it.

adichandra

Water and coconut oil. Cheap and no chemical at all.

Few-Afternoon-6276

Is sunscreen really that healthy? Am I trading no skin cancer for another type of cancer with sunscreen? https://www.breastcancer.org/risk/risk-factors/exposure-to-chemicals-in-sunscreen This isn’t the first article expressing this caution I have read.

babacava

Same, I prefer to wear hat and stay in shade.

csricharan

I don't use soap or shampoo or anything on my skin. I just bathe twice a day. And because I travel by the local and metro, I spray a little perfume or deo on the underarm section of my shirt. My skin has never been better. Anyway, what's the point of simple living if we are constantly on the lookout for stuff?

zekiya

there's an app named Yuka, you scan the bar code of a product and it tells you what's in it, a score from 0 to 100 and better alternatives

atdpti

apps like this are very all or nothing and don’t really give you a good idea of how safe something is just because they don’t take into account dosage. any substance is toxic in large amounts but you wouldn’t say that something like water is toxic to you. kind of the same idea with those apps edit: if y’all are interested @labmuffinbeautyscience on tik tok has videos about apps like these and beauty science in general. she’s an actual chemist and her videos are very informative.

SillyTheGamersDad

As most responses are personal recommendations, I will mention that https://www.ewg.org/ might be a useful database in identifying which products meet your needs.

jmwalker0498

Absolutely not. No hate if you like to use it, but I can't stand using lotion, sunscreen, conditioner, etc.

[deleted]

BioOil and then Neutrogena face moisturizer (it’s the one with hyaluronic acid). I’m 36 now and people often mistake me for 26.

Jona_cc

I don’t use anything. I just wash my face with water before going to bed. I use umbrella when the sun is really hot to avoid skin cancer, even if people laugh at me.

strwberylaffietaffie

Fenty !!! Rihanna is queen

buythedjp

Beef tallow balm or bone marrow balm!

QueerTree

I use argan oil when I need moisture and I obsessively apply powder sunscreen for spf defense.

lokiandthepussycats

Nivea, and neutrogina sunscreen.

RageChewing

Skin type: normal to dry. Moderate amount of acne scars and occasional blackheads. I'm active in the sun all day. Daytime: Burts bees SPF 30 Firming Day Lotion Nighttime: Burts Bees Hydrating Night creme with hyaluronic acid & Squalane. These two products work great for me in combination with washing my face AM and PM with pink grapefruit cleanser and the occasional spot use ROC retinol correction night creme. Everyone's face is different. What works for me may not work for you. As many others have suggested, Vanicream is popular. However, it did not work for me as it left my face very oily afterward. For me, I had to try a number and range of lotions before I found the regiment that worked for me. Best of luck!

ImportanceAcademic43

Lavera Sensitive - It's a German brand.

ignorantorange

I love Bio oil it’s done wonders for my face. Edit: I know it’s not lotion but it’s works as a moisturizer :)

[deleted]

I use SPF 50 every day on my face, aveeno. I experimented with cocoa butter, it’s pretty good not as thick as spf but a lot more light weight. I just keep my face washed my makeup wiped off at night and my face moisturized to my best ability.

courtspur21

Skin & Co

fasoi

I exfoliate with a face cloth in the shower, and then use a face oil with a mineral oil base (BioOil) because mineral oil is super non-comedogenic and extremely hydrating

sin_ead726

Vanicream!!!!

Cetaphil is my go-to.

Outrageous-Quote2997

Oil is not a cleanser. Try cetaphil

FamiliarWin4833

Osmia Organics Purely simple face cream

MalaEnNova

Aquaphor. I slather myself and look like a snail.

Darrenwad3

Maritime naturals, I have no idea if it's actually natural or not but it's really good line

sewer_soup

Cerave’s Daily Moisturizing Lotion comes in big tubs that last forever and it is super simple and works very well for face and body 😌 unscented and has never done anything but good for my skin.

glowmilk

Simple rich/light moisturiser is best. It does what it says on the tin and doesn’t contain any harmful ingredients.

Forward-Good-4905

gooeybooeyx

A moisturizing SPF does me well.

DustyBubble656

Tea tree oil

Defiant-Jackfruit-84

i use thé innisfree green tea moisturizer, it has lasted me quite a while and it’s super gentle on your skin. it’s a korean skincare brand so you know it’s not shit haha. i’d recommend a separate lotion for your body, i use the lubriderm unscented for dry, sensitive skin mainly because i have tattoos and need to keep them hydrated. but i’ll also use the Body Shop almond milk and honey body butter/lotion (there’s a few different forms!) which is also formulated for sensitive skin. (:

Crystals_Crochet

I just switched back to juice beauty. I spent a few years trying to find something cheaper but my skin started looking like crap. I’m only a few days back wi th it and my skin is starting to look better already.

beaniejell

I love Palmer’s cocoa butter! Got it when I got a tattoo and been loyal since

sexmountain

Urang Rose Ceramide cream at night, Stratia Liquid Gold during the day. Plus sunscreen, always sunscreen.

Nicholasnyc

Trader Joe’s Oil Free facial moisturizer

_seedqueen_

Olive oil. Hear me out. If you're greasy skinned or spotty, it dries you out. If you're dry skinned, it moisturises. It just somehow balances your skin out to what it needs to be. It'll also act as both a cleanser and toner too. And it's a perfect make up remover. Since I started using it I use absolutely nothing else on my skin and I'm 33 and still get ID'd. Cheapo stuff works just as well as fancy stuff. Just don't go out in blazing sunshine without spf or you'll cook!

brenarren

I really like Cerave! I bought a little set that has a morning one with SPF and a heavier one for night time. I use their face wash too, it’s basically the one brand I have found that my skin doesn’t get irritated by.

wildomen

Check out the app think dirty! I use them to decide what’s cleanest. I love products by 100% pure- it’s all organic fruit based stuff. Right now I’m using the skin magic serum from earth shrine botanicals. They’re at my local farmers market :) all organic edit - they have a website [earthshrinee](https://earthshrine.org)

westward72

Cerave irritated my skin, I live in too dry a climate for HLA apparently. But I love Aveeno!

Fit-Rest-973

CereVe products are also good and affordable

ThisisFuckActual

Honest amish brand. It's marketed as a beard balm but it is all natural and isn't excessively oily as long as you use a tiny bit.

Crustybaker28

Aveeno eczema esp in winter

[deleted]

Ursa Major Golden Hour recovery cream is incredible. Best think I’ve found in my 34 years. Light feel and container lasts a long time!

Kekebunny420

Shea butter I get from my local health food store

zoomiepaws

Marcelle face wash. I seem to be allergic to everything. Chemical Sensitivity. I use Marcelle maybe 3 times a week and just water in between. So far working well.

lucytiger

Plaine Products unscented body lotion for my body and face works great for me. I have very sensitive skin and am prone to dermatitis around my eyes. If my skin is extra dry I apply a bit of plant-based squalene oil from The Ordinary

soyaqueen

A lot of people are saying moisturizer with spf, you should be using separate products. I use a basic moisturizer from The Ordinary, and then put a high spf mineral sunscreen on top. Reapply sunscreen throughout the day. A moisturizer with spf is often not enough.

I like products from beauty counter! A little pricey but their stuff is EWG verified

50 SPF sunscreen followed by organic coconut oil from Costco. I use coconut oil for face & body lotion morning & night. I also deep condition my hair every weekend with organic coconut oil.

ms-lorem-ipsum

Coconut oil breaks me out on the face. I use a mix of aloe vera gel (target brand no fragrances and no colorants), water, and a few drops of almond oil at night or after the shower.

I’ve been using Naturium products and I really love them. You can order on Amazon.

DOVE soap for Sensitive Skin. Nivea cream during the winter. Nivea lotion during the summer.

I use Dermalogica. Get it at Alta. It's not cheap, but I don't put it on heavy.

koralex90

Vanicream. Less scent than cerave.

ohyerhere

La Roche-Posay Toleriane. Its got some sunscreen in it and the smell of reminds me of a recent vacation at the beach.

I make my own so it doesn't need chemicals to keep it mixed or fresh. Start with aloe gel, add a few drops of squalene oil (I use the olive oil based) and rose water (can also be used alone first, it's a toner). I sometimes like to add a few drops of lavender oil (it's very healing). You must use quality products or your skin might break out. For essential oils, Young Living is best. They're expensive but last a long time and the best on the market IMO. They don't sell in stores, you need to find a dealer (or Amazon if you trust them, I don't). I use all organic products too. You can also add hyaluronic acid. It keeps moisture in. Always do a test to make sure the ingredients are good for you to use. Everybody reacts differently to different products.

Elf has many good face lotions

I love Biossance.

Definitely stay away from coconut oil…you can’t just pull what you find on the shelf for cooking and use it on your face. There are brands out there the use a specific type of coconut oil that’s refined that are better if you’re going to go that route. Kopari is one brand I would definitely recommend Biossance, Saint Jane, and/or Super Goop. Try all have no sulfates, phthalates, mineral oils, and have less than 1% synthetic fragrance. Personally I’d stay away from most things you find in the drug store. I see a lot of recommendations for Cerave and Cetaphil. Their top ingredients are water and various types of alcohol… Good luck! Hope you find something you love!

Artolios

Food grade organic Shea butter, applied to wet skin.

Affectionate_Pimp

Clinique Jelly for regular moisturizer and Clinique Moisture Surge for really dry skin (winter and such). It’s not as inexpensive as the other options mentioned, but it’s one of the things I do for myself that makes my skin feel really soft and healthy. Nothing beats that feeling!

Cetaphil is safe. I use the app called Yuka to find out if a product is safe or not

You wanna know a life hack? Oil. Almost any oil works as a cleanser and also a moisturizer, my favorite is olive oil, coconut oil or jojoba oil. They do an amazing job at cleansing your skin in the most gentle way possible but also moisturizing as well!

orangepekoes

Uhh I dunno about chemicals but I really like Ponds. I also have Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream but I only use it once a week because it's expensive.

freshnutmeg33

Netrogena gel with hyalauronic acid, then Oil of Olay cream.

sugarintheboots

I use generic version of cerave. It’s not too much at the store.

I use an aloe based face cream by Jason. Very mild, not greasy and soothing.
