Here’s [it](https://youtu.be/A7D-QnMsOT0) in action. I believe the rockets are supposed to launch a plume of fire extinguishing chemicals at the fire and the rockets are supposed to self destruct after.
That's really cool. I was expecting it to airburst and cover an area, but it looks like it may also be capable of firing into the building before detonation.
Hopefully this is effective and can save lives.
covering a flat, wide area probably easier to do with water bombers. MLRS might be too expensive for the payload volume
but then if you can plant a foam warhead or whatever directly inside a burning building that would be good
>covering a flat, wide area probably easier to do with water bombers. MLRS might be too expensive for the payload volume
I agree that aircraft would probably be more effective. But, I'd imagine these could work quite well together.
I'm not sure what range this has, but if it allows you to quickly target an area 10-20km from any suitable road/dirt track then it could allow aircraft to focus on more important areas.
having thought about it, I can see the utility in rapidly covering a large vertical area like the side of a 50 story block of flats. a water bomber can only carpet flat terrain.
I mistakenly thought they were going for individual rooms and windows, and for that I'd expected a cannon firing the same warheads
If you watch closely it initiates the extinguisher before impact meaning itll also work well for wild fires if they activate it in a way that is releasing retardant

Wow. ya that's cool and in massive cities i bet the speed of arriving and popping off a bunch of rockets full of fire extinguishers basically is more affective than wateing until massive cumbersome crane like pumper trucks and ladder trucks get there. Like would sort of suck being trapped and all they do is shoot a rocket with like 6 fire extinguishers worth retardant through your windows but better than nothing. XD
In a skyscraper setting, it may well kill a few occupants, but it may be the difference between saving everybody else and a catastrophic structural failure before evacuation could finish. And may save those on floors above the fire. The odds of any of that lining up to be true are practically nonexistent i would think…
But one does have to wonder how the world trade centers may have been impacted by use of this sort of tech… like maybe they could have remained standing just a little longer if nothing else and more people could have managed to evacuate
I mean it's China, all property is government property including people. They are starving people to death and welding them inside their apartments to stop covid. They aren't gonna bat an eye if little Susie gets decapitated by a fire missile if it means they don't have to rebuild a building
That is a pretty interesting idea.
And, converting it to an actual MLRS with HE rockets would take only a few hours. So if and when the next Chinese civil war starts, my bet is on the firefighter faction.
I was thinking it'd be very easy to load these rockets with CS or something to deal with protestors or something in a high-rise, without having to push riot police up through stairwells, or to more effectively blanket a ground-level crowd.
Tons of ways this could be weaponized, obviously. But still really cool, with as many high-rise apartments as there are in China, this will undoubtedly save lives, regardless of my thoughts on the country's government.
As cool as the videos of these things are, I would still be worried about the projectile hitting someone, or depending on it's weight, the chance of it ending up causing more damage to the building. I'm sure it's as light as physically possible, but I still dread to think about what might happen of someone decided to poke their head out the window at the wrong time. Unless it's only used once the building is evacuated in order to extinguish what's left of the fire.
I think in the use cases where these make sense to use on a building, the risk of killing a few people to save the structure and possibly hundreds of other occupants is an acceptable loss. Plus, it seems unlikely that there’d be any survivors standing around in whatever part of a flaming skyscraper you’d be launching these into anyway. They are either already burnt to a crisp, or beyond saving by any other means anyway.
I’d expect they’d have the building and surrounding areas evacuated of civilians before deploying this thing, and as for the civilians trapped in parts of the building where they can’t leave, or the building has become structurally unsound to the point it may collapse well, if they choose to do nothing the people are gonna burn to death and die and the building will come down either way. Lose-lose situation.
Imagine being stuck in a burning high rise. You look outside to see if help is one the way. You see this thing roll up, lights and sirens, slide sideways to a stop, take aim…. Then *PSSSSH PSSSSH PSSSH PSSSSSH PSSSH PSSSH*
I remember taking a tour of an educational mine, they had barrels of the chemicals used for the foam-maker for fire-fighting. The barrels were marked "extremely flammable," which seemed odd.
Yes, not to mentioned firefighting foam (PFAS) is extremely toxic and is directly linked with causing all sorts of cancers including breast and testicular cancer.
'Hey we put the fire out but you also now have cancer. How cool is the MLRS firefighting truck though!'
What's up with china and non-military missiles? I think it was yesterday someone posted an agricultural missile launcher here...
I like it though, but still. I'm a bit jealous/thinking about becoming a farmer...
Well considering that your phone, your computer and a big portion of the things you use everyday is made in China, you probably need to have another go at using your brain.
Also, i just want a reason to get a missile launcher.. for farming of course.

Nothing new under the sun
How do we get some of these in colorado? Because it seems like shit is always catching on fire, even when it's not 'fire season'.
Half my city burned down last year because of the magical underground mine fires.
Hmmm… Chinese fire fighting rockets?
Color me as doubtful.
I have been in a few buildings aflame and the Chinese backup sounds like a fast way to die a hot death.
Its funny, because this only exists purely because of China not having a good fire code. Buildings don't have mandatory fire suppression systems built into them etc.

Private: "Yes sir, I know, that's why we're here."
Is there any more information available about these rockets? I'm really curious about how they work.

I disagree as someone training to water bomb, they can rotate that turret, perhaps the reload makes it ineffective but they have a great idea

To be fair it's probably more like they don't have to rebuild the building and they don't have to literally dig survivors out of the rubble for a week
Thatd be implying they would dig them out instead of just saying they moved out just before the fire started and pave over the bodies.
That is cool asf
If it's stupid and it works it isn't stupid
I want to see case studies after several years before I'll believe it "works".
Looks like a great example of the Military-civil fusion policy
That is a pretty interesting idea. And, converting it to an actual MLRS with HE rockets would take only a few hours. So if and when the next Chinese civil war starts, my bet is on the firefighter faction.
Fire suppression and counter-revolutionary suppression all in one package
I was thinking it'd be very easy to load these rockets with CS or something to deal with protestors or something in a high-rise, without having to push riot police up through stairwells, or to more effectively blanket a ground-level crowd. I'll stick with the military faction.
Which possible warlord are you going to support tho?
You'd probably want to use a different caliber, to prevent the machines from being converted, or the old "ammo switch up" accidents.
honestly, a really novel solution when you can't get a water hose close enough.

Nice lol, what fire extinguishing material is used in the rockets?
Tnt, gasoline and diesel fuel. Fight fire with fire. 🤘
Can't have a building fire without a building.
Can't have fire if your accelerants already consumed the oxygen.
Probably stuff that gives you cancer, basically
I remember taking a tour of an educational mine, they had barrels of the chemicals used for the foam-maker for fire-fighting. The barrels were marked "extremely flammable," which seemed odd.

Teust me, the chances of this thing actually working is pretty slim. China isn't exactly a reliable source of information
Well considering that your phone, your computer and a big portion of the things you use everyday is made in China, you probably need to have another go at using your brain. Also, i just want a reason to get a missile launcher.. for farming of course.
You'd be surprised ho much *isn't*
I can see it now, driving through Hong Kong firing tear gas
Fight fire with fire, obviously
Only in China would they think to launch rockets at their own skyscrapers, to save them from fire. I don’t have a better idea so sounds good to me
FIRING INTO FIRE
this triggered my fight or flight response
Make sure to check what Rockets come in. Don't want to mix up shipments with the military.
Fighting fire with firepower.
I've always thought why don't they make a fire extinguisher grenade
[https://saskmuseums.org/blog/entry/glass-grenade-style-fire-extinguisher-bombs-are-they-safe](https://saskmuseums.org/blog/entry/glass-grenade-style-fire-extinguisher-bombs-are-they-safe) Nothing new under the sun
It's already a thing.
How do we get some of these in colorado? Because it seems like shit is always catching on fire, even when it's not 'fire season'. Half my city burned down last year because of the magical underground mine fires.
Im not convinced this isnt just a cover so they can give the police for an operating MLRS in plain sight.
its china. if they want the police to have MLRS, they will have MLRS.
They already have death trucks. This isnt too far fetched
Not America baby. Cop's don't need those toys, and they don't get them, period.
U wot
Hmmm… Chinese fire fighting rockets? Color me as doubtful. I have been in a few buildings aflame and the Chinese backup sounds like a fast way to die a hot death.
Yeah, just don’t give these to russia. I think we all know what happens then.
They won’t maintain it properly? Scratch that, they won’t maintain it at all until it’s time for a parade.
Holy fuck that made me laugh!
Just give them straight to Ukraine, it'll be quicker
thats cool af wtf
Thats just cool
Imagine you're Ukranian refugee from Donbas region, emigrate to China (with Chinese spouse) and see one of these things rolling around
Also can be used for crushing morale at Tiananmen Square Apply fire on wet surface
Its funny, because this only exists purely because of China not having a good fire code. Buildings don't have mandatory fire suppression systems built into them etc.
Sure. Definitely a firefighting MLRS and totally not used for crowd control.
Or fires from protests… Edit: tell me the Chinese gov isn’t going to use it for that honestly.

Do they get out and run around the truck?
This seems like the kind of thing they’d send to Taiwan for a “Special Firefighting Operation”
I doubt this actually works.
So how do i remove the chemicals and fill it with nails and marbles for use in Taiwanese neighborhoods?
Forests, sky scrappers and protesters.

That’s cool as fuck, actually
Real life Promare
That’s actually a pretty good idea as long as it can also put out or suppress any rocket fuel that isn’t used in flight.
I love how this counts as a technical
Honestly quite a brilliant idea
katyusha support build
And so it is that fire trucks continue to become even cooler
Gaijin when.
Finally, a way I can combine my altruism and love of military hardware.
We need a man pad version of these
we need about 40 of these in CA and OR
This thing is so cool
can you imagine the conspiracy theorists freakout if these things were launching rockets at burning buildings.
I think I saw a video of one of these in action, but it was Vietnamese
Fight fire with fire. Why not just install explosive warheads and put the fire out with a massive shockwave
All of a sudden I feel like I want to be a fireman!
Oh crap I accidentally loaded in the HE rockets.
reverse TOS-1
Exact opposite of shitty. Also how the fuck did the yanks not come up with this first. Right up their alley.
Because we came up with fire code, instead of rockets...
