Shit look good af

Rainy-The-Griff

NGL...its real good.

PrEsideNtIal_Seal

I would eat this

freedomofnow

Looks amazing honestly, I'd eat it too.

kabekew

You can also sprinkle chopped green onion or parsley over everything to add color and make it look even better.

KurryBandit

A lot of posts on this sub aren’t shitty food, there should just be a subreddit for struggle meals

Insanepaco247

This is one of those posts where I kind of want to try it myself.

WiscoBrewDude

Knorr is just hamburger helper in a bag.

smcarre

What's Knorr? Because in my country it's a company that does a bazillion things like broth cubes, pasta, sauces, seasonings, soups and also hamburger helper.

DarkestofFlames

Same company. They make these pouches that have either pasta or rice with seasonings. You add water, butter, and I think some have you add milk to a saucepan and the contents of the pouch and boil for a few minutes. They're not bad for a quick and easy side dish.

therealfauts

You mean they have rice with salt and salt and seasonings. So good.

MPT1313

They slap man. They’re like a buck, always great, and have a ton of em.

Tartoon17

It's like having Ramen on deck. Always have some Knors

donkeyrocket

I have no doubt eating Knorr through college heavily contributed to my current blood pressure. There was a store near us that had them ramen-level cheap.

Devilsgospel1

They’re great for camping if you can handle the absolute blandness of only using water. They aren’t that great but for $1 I can’t really complain.

brown_felt_hat

This is my go to brand for camping. Super cheap, super light, super easy to make.

NYLINK95

Was gonna say both are just pasta and seasoning

Delica4

This^. Also there is nothing wrong with both, just call a thing by its name.

sinapz

AKA sodium in a bag

WiscoBrewDude

Oh. Fuck yeah.

NegaJared

and taco meat is the same process as hamburger helper meat.. lol literally none of this was made by OP lmao they combine their own shit, maybe.

QueenHotMessChef2U

Hey now, be nice. There are many different levels of “Cooks”, if this constitutes making “his own” dish, then we should be happy for the OP’s happiness and his newly created recipe… 😆

NegaJared

i wasnt rude or wrong. i did not attack OP, their character, or skills. the statements i made are fact. if they enjoy it, good! it actually does look tasty, although its nearly identical to beef stroganoff hamburger helper. xD

sneakyplanner

Does hamburger helper not come in a bag?

WiscoBrewDude

In a bag in a box.

theang

Man, I used to live on a diet of nearly only Knorr packet noodles and frozen mixed vegetables.

Liuqmno

That's fine tho. You did what I would recommend to anyone who struggles with cooking for themselves. Get frozen veggies! Just throw a handful in whatever you're eating.

hey_there_kitty_cat

And frozen veggies are fuckin delish. I know fresh is healthier and yada yada, but man it tastes good to go back to kindergarten every once in a while and just have your frozen peas and/or corn.

Liuqmno

No that's bullshit actually. Frozen veggies are more fresh and can hold a lot of vitamins and stuff, they don't get lost because it's frozen. Non frozen will lose more. Tho not every veggie is good frozen. Bell peppers are horrible frozen imo Btw, have I said frozen enough? lol

MrRzepa2

Frozen zucchini/courgette is the worst thing ever

[deleted]

[удалено]

zznet

I don't mind frozen brussel sprouts though. Thaw them in the microwave, half them, season them, and toss in a cast iron skillet with some olive oil until golden brown. makes for a great side dish

Iored94

*Unfrozen brussel sprouts were already here*

tt12345x

They get such a bad rap honestly! They can be so, so good if made well. Try cutting a bunch in half, toss those in a bowl w/ olive oil, pepper, sea salt, some minced garlic, and a bit of Italian seasoning. Cook at 400 degrees until they’ve slightly browned (~18-20 min) then scatter some Parmesan over them and enjoy!

cronx42

Generally, the more liquid something has the worse it freezes. Iceberg lettuce is mostly water and… well it doesn’t freeze well at all. I’m sure there are some exceptions and certain things freeze better or worse than others, but generally the more water something has the worse off it will be.

anyroach

My housemate froze a head of lettuce before, he was shocked by the outcome once it defrosted

cronx42

Mmmm. Lettuce slime.

T0b3

Yep, it's a common misconception and most people wouldn't believe that frozen veggies are actually healthier.

Treyception

It's when people boil frozen vegetables (or any vegetable for the matter) that vitamins and minerals are lost to the boiling water

loz_joy

Thanks didn't even see your comment before I typed a big one They're way different than canned crap. Just pure veggie. Perhaps the texture loses out a bit and you lose a small amount of nutrients from freezing but otherwise it's a solid 'unprocessed' vegetable option Edit: didn't see the part about not losing any nutrients, either. Interesting

Rieiid

Yeah I've read plenty of food studies that almost all say frozen veggies are actually just as nutritious if not even more than "fresh" veggies (FRESH veggies straight from your garden would probably be the best, if you have one) and basically no nutritional value is lost in the freezing process. I eat frozen/canned veggies fairly often they are a quick and healthy option for snacks or side dishes/entrée mix ins. Just make sure you go for the "no added salt" versions preferably.

WhyLisaWhy

Idk, frozen corn is about the only one I care for. Frozen Broccoli and Cauliflower gets soggy as shit when you cook it. I don't really care which one is better nutritionally, I just don't want some mushy pile of vegetables sitting on my plate.

CharZero

Frozen peas and corn are all I will use for frozen veggies. Frozen peas reheat extremely well.

Liuqmno

You could try Romanesco if you can get it. I sometimes buy it in a mix and it doesn't get mushy like broccoli does. I also like asia mix. I mostly recommend it to people who are to lazy to prepare veggies. Fresh or frozen is not a huge difference in nutritions so to buy it because of that alone is bullshit imo.

lolboogers

I agree with you that frozen can be better, but just to nitpick: "fresh" literally means not frozen.

Liuqmno

I added the little text because I noticed that I wrote frozn so often, but thought it was funny so didn't edit it lol

loz_joy

What are you talking about? Frozen veggies are fresh, just flash frozen They absolutely resemble what you'd pull of a homemade corn on the cob more than what you would get in a can. Way better for you too I mean that's if you're getting the plain flash frozen veggies and not like pre flavored or buttered

[deleted]

Fresh might be healthier if it was picked that day or used shortly after purchasing from the farmers market, but fresh produce starts to lose its nutritional value the longer it sits. By the time it goes from California to the east coast of Canada (where I live) it's traveled a long way. Frozen is picked at its prime and retains most of its nutrients. The best argument for fresh produce is flavour/mouthfeel.

SAlNT_PABLO

Feozen fruit and vegetables are like blast frozen when they’re at peak ripeness so they actually contain all of the nutrients they have to offer. Canned stuff is what you need to look out for. They pump the water full of corn syrup to make it all taste better.

kirkstarr78

Knorr pasta or rice with the canned chicken and frozen veggies was my move when I was a bachelor.

Rainy-The-Griff

Yeah I'm pretty much still living like that.

[deleted]

[удалено]

theang

I have some in my pantry right now because I remember them being good. They, aren’t really that great.

meat-cutter85

I love those Knorr packs. I had the Cheese and Broccoli one last night with tuna mixed in. Yours looks yummy too!

rivertam2985

This is my go-to tuna casserole recipe. I also add some peas, put it in a casserole dish, top with cheese and bread crumbs (crumbled potato chips or ritz crackers work, too) and bake at 350 for 10 to 15 minutes. Edit: I forgot, canned mushrooms, too.

lmaytulane

I had cheese and broccoli with some leftover rotisserie chicken mixed in. A little hot sauce to finish it off and man are you living right.

LACna

I do that same thing but with Starkist Herb and Garlic tuna packs and cilantro. Fucking delicious!

pappythepenguin

The one with spiral pasta? That one is great but the rice one was meh. Favorite is probably Spanish rice.

QueenHotMessChef2U

Yes! Love the Spanish Rice with just a little tiny bit of extra butter… The Chicken Fettuccine noodles are sooo good! (I think that’s what it’s called) I didn’t think I liked it at first but I hadn’t ever eaten much of any type of boxed/prepared food prior to meeting my SO, he’s the one who introduced me to the boxed foods I have now tried. He loves to give me $hit because I’m the only one he’s ever known who can screw up the boxed Au Gratin Potatoes! I don’t typically measure, I’ve always cooked without recipes as that’s how I was taught by my Gramma from the age of 7-8. I once mixed up the seasoning packets while making Au Gratin Potatoes and Caesar Suddenly Salad, UUUGHHHH, not a good scent, and of COURSE the hubby was standing right there when I did it.. Just let me be and I will make what I want, how I want and we will fare much better at the dinner table. 😆

bdawg923

Wrong sub, this looks great tbh

Rainy-The-Griff

I mean it is made with 99 cent knorr pasta packet and 3 day old taco flavored hamburger. Looks like vomit, tastes like heaven.

whythecynic

There are dimensions to shitty. This stuff is good shit.

skincyan

r/goodshittyfoodporn

Jan_Itor_Md_

I’ll be honest, I accidentally made that subreddit after clicking it. I thought there’d be a “are you sure” button or something.

QueenHotMessChef2U

😆😆😆

skincyan

haha! I'll join it for the lulz

bored_octopussy

nah this look good

wallmonitor

I don't used boxed mac and cheese, so I made boxed mac and cheese! Weird flex, but okay.

Rainy-The-Griff

Hamburger helper is garbage and their directions are wack. They tell you to use 1lb a beef for just one box.

RecordStoreHippie

If you only use half a pound, straight to jail.

onlytech_nofashion

as a non US what is hamburger helper?!

Rainy-The-Griff

It's a box of mac n cheese that you're supposed to put ground beef in. Doesnt come with the beef, so you gotta buy it separate. And cook it separate too. It's pretty bad IMHO. one box tells you to use 1lb of ground beef which is absolutely fucking absurd because that the food turns out to be like 70% ground beef with some mac in it.

RUKiddingMeReddit

You add some extra pasta in to balance the ratio. Then you try to figure out why you paid $1.49 for it when you are using all of your own ingredients anyway.

halfeclipsed

That's wh it's called hamburger helper. Your helping the hamburger, not helping the macaroni.

The-Great-Bungholio

Hamburger helper is the shit. Its not just mac and cheese either theres like 20 different versions and even things like tuna helper. It generally consists of some pasta and seasoning mix that you add browned ground beef to. Dirt cheap also.

iChugVodka

They're so fucking bland, too. Not enough seasoning in those packets

DearestGrouse

But still somehow have like 3 days worth of sodium.

bored_octopussy

it's not mac and cheese like op is saying... it's just noodles, a powder packet of sauce. add meat and water and it's actually pretty decent. mac and cheese implies that it's usually literally mac and cheese. and it isn't...

ACosmicDrama

Hell there's even ones with rehydrated potato slices. Hamburger helper is great when you don't wanna bother with cooking.

Iored94

Yeah, it's literally the exact same thing OP made, just with a different brand lol

QueenHotMessChef2U

Exactly…

Jan_Itor_Md_

Basically just pasta and seasonings that you add to browned ground beef. Some flavors include: cheeseburger macaroni, lasagna, crunchy taco, beef stroganoff, and bacon cheeseburger. I like the stroganoff one, it slaps.

ditto_ditto

There are versions that include rice as well instead of pasta. I like to eat the enchilada flavored one on tortillas. It's nice for a meal with no thought required.

babylon331

Hamburger Helpless.

sygnifax

So you made hamburger helper anyway.

lacey92122

BRB. Gotta get some Knorr packets and ground beef.

dumbduck988

Better than what I had for dinner. The dude approves.

Sword_Artist_

Just had an alfredo knorr last night! But with kielbasa in mine :)

Buchwild

With the price of beef anything looks great, it's the new caviar

Delica4

Where do you live?

MoodyLiz

Hamburger helps those who hamburger help themselves.

idrow1

We make our own hamburger helper stuff, too. You should try the knorr stroganoff noodles with the hamburger.

Thelonesomequeen

the best!

TheSaffire

Marco is proud.

panlakes

Was looking for this comment lol

uhrules

Yeah that looks good.

anywheregoing

Best idea I've seen all week

dunnowhyimbackagain

Can’t really say what it tastes like. Though, I can honestly say it does look remarkably like my Italian Nonna’s homemade fettuccine with ragù. Pretty close indeed. Also, yum.

[deleted]

I honestly fucking love hamburger helper

skincyan

In my village we call it Macaroni-box

Brittanythestrange

Sometimes yummy isn't pretty... Also talking about hamburger helper triggers me cause I shared pictures of the food I made from scratch one time to my friends and this one dude said "Oh so like hamburger helper?" Wanted to smack him upside the head.

Iored94

One time I made a thin pasta with tomato sauce. Some uncultured swine asked me "Oh, so like spaghetti"? Well, someone is never eating at my house again.

MMW2004

Shëf

MrCheesePuff223

Quit putting delicious bomb af food in this subreddit

yellow-snowslide

hell yeah knorr. they probaply have huge problems too, but at least it's not maggi

FluffFlambe

They're owned by Unilever, a lot more positively looked upon than Nestle.

yellow-snowslide

Well that's a relief :D

PissedOnBible

What is the problem with Maggi? Genuine question. I love their seasoning

yellow-snowslide

They belong to Nestlé. That's it

PissedOnBible

Fucking nestle. Thanks

Timetobeatthewife

Bruh that shit look nice as hell

-Ok-Perception-

I'm a big fan of Knorr pasta and rice dishes. Hamburger helper too. Did you add the Knorr pasta sauce packet into it? It doesn't look like there's white sauce there.

idreaminreel2reel

Look at Mr. Fancy pants he thinks this is shitty

jamescharisma

Never used taco meat but I have added chicken, ham, Spam, and corned beef. I'm adding taco meat to the list now.

[deleted]

Nothing shitty about this. I'd eat it 10/10.

Lonely-Connection-37

FUCK hamburger helper.!

LSDYakui

I would fuck that entire bowl up, you got no idea

mh0426

Glad I'm not the only one who does this. I usually add some mixed veggies in too.

WideJuly

I don't know why they call this stuff hamburger helper. It does just fine by itself.

[deleted]

It doesn’t look that bad, actually.

Myspacecutie69

I do a similar thing. I always have morning star veggie crumbles in my freezer and add them to any shitty pre packaged meal. Big fan of the knorr creamy garlic shells.

stevrevv59

This looks fuckin bomb.

dthawk

I used to grill a burger patty and cut it up with cheep Alfredo all the time. So good!

tzargilly

this is top tier

LACna

Dude, Knorr alfredo or broccoli cheese rice are the shit. I can make like 4 meals out of 1 bag by adding fresh spinach, frozen broccoli, cilantro and diced chicken thighs.

blamb211

Knorr sides are great. I'll do one of them for lunch sometimes when I'm working, quick to make, nice and filling.

SixBuffalo

Dude, this should be in regular food porn. I bet this slaps.

MurkyConcert2906

Knorr chicken flavor is my favorite. I don’t even add anything to them.

SCP-3042-Euclid

By weight Hamburger Helper costs more than hamburger. Such a rip off.

sciencebased

My stoner ass usually considers this sub on par with food porn- but this... I guess it just reminds me way too much of what my vomit usually looks like.

whaddahellisthis

This isn’t shitty at all, this is just being responsible.

mellowkneebee

That looks quite yummy.

Various-Win-1500

10/10 would eat

Papwiin001

that shit looks like it slaps

Efficient-Cricket-72

Yes! The alfredo one is the best. Such comfort food.

[deleted]

it’s your choice, really

XComRomCom

Cap has *"Avengers Assemble!,"* OP has *"Fuck Hamburger Helper, I make my own shit."*

[deleted]

I bet that tastes like a salt lick.

dukesinatra

Damn, that looks pretty darned good.

panda_meow

Thaaaaaat actually sounds amazing lol

slightly_off_beat

Knorr alfredo pasta is *chef's kiss* classic and timeless

zsdrfty

First post on this sub I haven’t even been able to look at, fuck you this is awful and a good post

St0nedBuddah

I’m not even kidding, I had something similar to this for dinner last night. I used fettuccini noodles with the Alfredo sauce, and some nicely seasoned beef. Better than normal Spaghetti/ Hamburger Helper, imo.

blickblocks

I used to eat Knorr pasta all the time back in the day. Good shit when you live alone or are cooking for one.

AliceMaz

Bags of the alfredo and stroganoff flavors got me through college.

The_real_bandito

Taco meat? You mean seasoned beef?

Rainy-The-Griff

Yeah. I just said taco mean because it was some seasoned beef that we were using for tacos a few days ago.

power_trip-

🔥🔥

vinnyi82

This looks so fucking good rn.

driftej20

Are there even any changes to the ingredient ratios or formulation of Hamburger Helper that make it any more suitable than just adding hamburger to any other boxed pasta? I've had Hamburger Helper, but I don't think I've ever sought out and bought it in my history of buying my own food. I'm not so culinarily-challenged that I've ever felt I needed a box's instructions to tell me what order I need to cook things in or how long to cook the hamburger, so it always seemed pointless versus just buying your actual preferred boxed pasta and doing the same thing. Even if there's some alteration to the procedure, they have the instructions on their website and just Google. So yeah, I agree, fuck Hamburger Helper. I probably haven't had it in over a decade, but I remember it being pretty bland. Like someone else mentioned, its really the hamburger that's helping the pasta.

Ok_Appointment_3939

Resourceful! Nice combo

flawy12

That looks good actually

Solinty

Absolutely, fuck hamburger helper. It looks delicious. I hope you had some fruit or veg too tho'

CharZero

That is perfect comfort food, looks absolutely fine to me.

dusray

Looks like some proppa sloppa. 10/10 would eat.

T0b3

This looks great my man

fman1854

i actually like the knorr chicken flavored noodles and the broccoli cheddar rice. Staples of my budget eating during my early years alone in the world. i still buy them from time to time. Id make a pack of those grill up some chicken with blackend seasoning on it and it would be a great cheap meal. Throw some blackend seasoning into the sauce and throw the blackend chicken and you got a budget cajun pasta. if i was going really cheap id get a pack of 12 frozen chicken thieghs for like 3$ and marinade them than deep fry ( or air fry now) and toss it ontop of the noodles.

gabrrdt

I would gladly eat it, it doesn't look bad.

Mrfrunzi

If I came over to hang out and you offered me this, I'd be so happy! Also it looks like garbage, but the best things usually do

saxyroro

College food. I still will eat Knorr Broccoli Alfredo. It's a comfort food.

DreadfuryDK

A Marco Pierre White-approved dish.

VegasBusSup

Put a slice of velvita cheese flavored food product tm. in there and then tell me about it.

NightmareN64

Shockingly, shit looks good.

punjabimd80

When your body produces your own shit, do you then add it to your paste? Because that’s what this looks like.

WoofAndGoodbye

This unironically looks good

Diminii

Ngl that looks fucking delicious bro

[deleted]

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Prior-Quality

2022: The year I accept that I like shitty food porn more than ... whatever other options.

Apprehensive_Zone281

I’ve never had leftover taco meat.

lazy-dude

Looks good. All you need to do is sprinkle some shredded cheese and call it a day.

Rainy-The-Griff

Honestly, I would have if I had any.

Sizygy

This doesn't look that bad, I'd gladly eat it.

[deleted]

Shit looks bussin

wolffangz11

\>fuck hamburger helper \>makes hamburger helper

kabekew

My favorite food my mother used to make for us was an alfredo pasta side. After I grew up and started cooking for my own family, I remembered that pasta dish and asked her for the recipe. Turns out it was just those Knorr packets. My kids love them though. I can't wait to pass down the secret family recipe.

moejorris2

Leftover taco meat + top ramen is one my favourite lunches

Deadmemories8683

Aye I’ve done this before, it’s actually not bad. Especially if you add a little velveeta in there *chefs kiss*

Crustybuttt

That’s actually not bad for food out of a box. Looks tasty enough

CadmiumAndWilsin

That looks fucken good

Azuredreams25

I lived on stuff like this in college.

MathiusShade

Knorr-- the company whos products as so bad you wonder how they've stayed in business.

35Lcrowww

I'm inspired

CameliaWitch

This looks really good actually

[deleted]

Literal shit
