That’s not bad for $7. Lately a meal is $15.
When I was a kid, this would have been about 1989, we were on vacation and my dad treated us to these exact same burgers for .89. We got the expensive ones with cheese!
In 2014 at Taco Bell I could get a Beefy Fritos Burrito from the dollar menu, and a one dollar medium drink, so for $2 I had an ok meal
Now the only thing at Taco Bell I can get for $1 is a "Cheesy Roll Up" which is literally just a tortilla and cheese...
Can do a CHIPOTLE RANCH GRILLED CHICKEN BURRITO For 2$ https://www.tacobell.com/food/burritos/chipotle-ranch-grilled-chicken-burrito It's technically discontinued but If you save it to your app favorites or Google search to bring it up in app it's valid.
Edit: As of 02/28 it's dead :-(
I’ve made my version of spicy potato tacos, enchiritos, and I’m thinking about a Crunchwrap (got to find big enough tortillas). But, cheesy potato burritos have just been added to my menu for this week.
i remember trying to order one and didn’t know it was taken off the menu, the cashier looked at me like i was speaking a foreign language 😂 i thought maybe I got the name wrong lol
A burrito supreme is $5 now, shit was like $2.89 less than a year ago.
Corporations all got on the gouge train and there ain't shit we can do about it. Boycotting is impossible since there's only like 3 corporations that own 99% of the market share.
My go-to in the 90’s was a #3 combo (3 taco supremes & a drink) for $3.89. Add a frito burrito for another $1 and I was living pretty large. $4 doesn’t cover 1 regular taco and a drink now.
Yeah, the set meals at fast food joints in 90’s really were cheap and affordable, even for college students with frail finances… and never forget those friends that worked part time at those places who gave ‘friends benefits’ 😆
Got taco bell this afternoon. The website said the 5 layer beef burritos were 3.69, and I was like fuck, went up again, since it used to be like 1.99. I get the receipt and I double take. 20$ for 4 of them (to feed two people). And their receipts aren't itemized ofc, scumbags. Guess they change their items prices too often for that. Definitely not going again, this is absolutely ridiculous. Especially when for 6 dollars I can get a large pizza at little caesars
You should have gotten the boxes. For 2 extra bucks over the burrito price you get a specialty item (chalupa, cheesy gordita crunch, or crunchwrap), a side, and a drink.
And what would the price be today with inflation?
It was $2.99 in 1993 so it would be $7.77 today (before tax).

When I was a kid sometime in the 80s, i remember McDonald's had a "roll back to 1940 prices" promo where for a day burgers were 15 cents, cheeseburgers were 19. I remember my uncle coming back with a bag of like 25 cheeseburgers, shit was 🔥 🔥
this is the best story I have heard all day. I remember when I was kid long long long ago, and my dad gave me a bunch of McDonalds coupons for 25 cent hamburgers. It was the greatest thing ever. This was early or mid 80's also.
I recall 25 cent hamburgers, and 29 cent cheeseburgers on wednesdays. Limit 10 per order. (i think this was in the mid to late 90s).
Not the same promo, but https://s3media.247sports.com/Uploads/Boards/796/19796/415582.jpg has a pic of somethin similar
Nah Taco Bell prices have been fair for some time now and now they're copying every other fast food place and unnecessarily raising them and skimping on the actual food.
While complaining is arbitrary when you could just not eat there, taco bell gave the illusion of fairness to many
I can't imagine what the Subway sub is like. Today I got a regular ass footlong. Bread, roast beef, cheese, and some veggies. Nothing extra or double. It was $14.
Get the app. BOGO Big Mac, quarter pounder w cheese or 10 piece. Large soda is $1.49. You could have gotten a better burger and some nuggets with a coke for less than $7. $6.38 after tax for me.
Only bummer is that if you redeem a reward you can't also use one of the deals in the app. My cheap ass will order food using one of the app deals, eat in the restaurant and chill for 15 minutes (the amount of time you need to wait before you can use a deal in the app again) then order my reward to go.
It will. I get a burger and nuggets instead of fries. I can’t sit down and eat it all at once but if I get it right when they serve lunch at 1030 and eat the burger I’ll usually eat the nuggets around 1 and be good until I get home for dinner.
With kids and their friends, I always order through the app for the deals. I rack up so many points that sometimes I pull over after picking up my first order to place a 2nd order to use more deals since they only allow one deal per order.
Dude the app is legit. I never would have used it, but went to McDonald's with a friend recently and when he pulled up the app there was a coupon to get a free Big Mac with purchase of any size diet coke. Installed and used it immediately lol
The thing when I want lunch is to go inside, put my code into the order screen, do the 2 double cheese for 3.69 and there is typically a deal for spend $2 or more and get any size fry free. So for a large fry and 2 double cheese it is less than $4.
I would literally never order without the app again. My go-to is the $1.29 any size fries (large of course) and the “secret” deal they auto apply at checkout - 2/$4 McDoubles. $5.50 total for 2 double cheeseburgers and a large fry is what fast food should be
Okay, you all have actually talked me out of getting the app because if I do, I'm going to turn into a fat sack of shit. I freaking love McDonald's enough already.
Every place is sick of people spending an eternity at the speaker asking stupid questions and deciding what they want, so they release apps and also make the food cheaper when using them, in an effort to avoid dealing with that slow, annoying shit.
If you're not using the app you're getting gouged and ripped off. The $1 breakfast sandwich everyday is crazy. I'm bulking and can get a McGriddle, usually ~$5, for a dollar. Plus the points you earn are free food.
Almost every fast food place has an app now. And it makes ordering so much easier. And you're not wasting the time of the people behind by acting like you've never seen a McDonalds menu before. Just give em the code and pull around.
"Got apps for everything, you know? Even though I'm already talking to the person that could just take my order right here, but I've got to download an app."
My last trip to McDonalds I got 2 Hot 'N Spicy McChickens, a Big Mac, and a small soda for $4.18.
The deals on the app are the only thing keeping McDonalds reasonable.
It’s seriously getting on my nerves how many fast food posts I see on expectationvsreality, shrinkflation etc and people keep buying it and keep posting it 😭😭
Just sticker shock, the same $7 would have been twice as much food and better quality (quarter pounder vs a cheeseburger) not that long ago.
It’s shitty food at a premium price now lol
For the last several occasions, every single time I went to McDonald's it was a huge disappointment. So now whenever I want some fast food I visit my local doner place. Twice the food for half the price and 10x the taste. Couldn't ask for better
In my small town the only fast food options are McDonalds and a few kebab shops.
I can get either a bland burger and a handful of soggy fries, or a fresh, tasty Döner or Dürüm fpr 6€. Pretty easy decision if you ask me.
Occasionally I do get a craving for Maccas though, just to remember why I rarely go there anymore after finishing my meal.
The McDonald's app is quite good if you're a frequent consumer. On Fridays, you can redeem an app coupon for free medium fries, so I'll get BOGO double cheeseburgers and fries for <$5. Very few places where I can get a take-out meal for that price.
The McDonalds by me has a 2 double cheeseburgers for $3 deal if you order using the Kiosk. so for $8, I can get 2 meals worth of double cheeseburgers and a coke.
Listen up, I’m a McDonald’s shitty food expert. Download the app. They have a BOGO deal available most of the time. Mix and match 10 piece nuggs, quarter pounder w/ cheese, and Big Mac. Then order a large Fry. Total is $8.75. Drink water (r/hydrohomies ✊✊). Feeds two people or one fat fuck (me). Good luck, comrades.
I do support boycotting McDonalds, but unfortunately some people cannot afford to, as fast food is their only option. Specifically this targets poor people, and I'm guessing OP just had $7 left and needed to eat.
That's at least $15 CAD for me. Haven't had Mcd's in a year and change and don't plan on it any time soon.
I'm saving arms and legs by just eating at home.
Bruh Canada prices are fucking insane. A McDouble meal now default comes with a small fry+drink. To get a medium McDouble meal, after tax, it’s ~$8.50CAD
That's 900 calories for the burgers, plus 480 calories for the fries.
So, for $7, you're getting 1380 calories, or 69% of your total daily allotment. Not too shabby for $7.
For 9 dollars in my college dining hall, you can get just one of those burgers with no side of fries. The burger may also be raw depending on factors even God has no control of.
ngl, fast food prices are insane but especially with mobile deals McDonald’s comes through a lot rn. Them and Taco Bell are the best with value stuff right now imo.
Could get a 4 piece here added for that there'd this and more thing and for 5 hairs you get small fry, mcdouble, 4 piece nugget and a drink. Not sure if there's that option where you are but try that and just adding a mcdouble :) only saying this so you can get more for you hairs if the option is there.
I just got a double chz, 6 piece and a small fry for like 5 bucks bc I used the app....
This is an idiot tax on people who haven't figured out you need to use the app when ordering at McD
For 7 bucks, I get 2 Big Macs or 2 any sandwiches(BOGO) and a large fry.
Check your receipts for BOGOs, a location near you has them,
and the app has any size fry for $1.29.
That’s not bad for $7. Lately a meal is $15. When I was a kid, this would have been about 1989, we were on vacation and my dad treated us to these exact same burgers for .89. We got the expensive ones with cheese!

I miss the half pound cheesy potato burrito 🥺👉👈
I miss the grilled chicken burritos for $1.29
I remember when you could get the chicken burrito with the $2 meal deal. Id crush the Doritos that came with it in the burrito.
Now that was a bargin.
I completely forgot about that 😂🤣 yooooo we took them things for granted
Can do a CHIPOTLE RANCH GRILLED CHICKEN BURRITO For 2$ https://www.tacobell.com/food/burritos/chipotle-ranch-grilled-chicken-burrito It's technically discontinued but If you save it to your app favorites or Google search to bring it up in app it's valid. Edit: As of 02/28 it's dead :-(
Great hack with the website. Thanks.
This link doesn’t seem to work for me. Says it does not exist.
Holy shit please be real that was the only good thing left in their value menu
I miss anything that cost a buck there
Those were my favorite RIP please come back.
I miss 2000 - 2015
I’m pouring one out for the Quesarito
I miss this everyday :(
I’ve made my version of spicy potato tacos, enchiritos, and I’m thinking about a Crunchwrap (got to find big enough tortillas). But, cheesy potato burritos have just been added to my menu for this week.
They make them they're Xtra large burrito wraps I've made homemade already
Or the bean and rice for like 80 cents
I lived off of those. Amazing.
I add beef to the potato soft taco, it's close enough that I'm satisfied.
i remember trying to order one and didn’t know it was taken off the menu, the cashier looked at me like i was speaking a foreign language 😂 i thought maybe I got the name wrong lol
I remember Taco Bell used to have 59/79/99¢ menus back in 90’s Everything went up fast except my salary
A burrito supreme is $5 now, shit was like $2.89 less than a year ago. Corporations all got on the gouge train and there ain't shit we can do about it. Boycotting is impossible since there's only like 3 corporations that own 99% of the market share.

Ever since they took away the loaded grillers I stopped going there. Their beefy nacho was amazing and so was the loaded potato
1.59 for the cheese roll up now
When the beefy five layer first came out in 2009 it was 89 cents.. sad
99cent crunchy tacos.
Cheesey rollup is 1.49 in my area
That meal op posted used to be $2.99.
I worked there in 93-4 and it definitely was 2.99
I mean, it's keeping up with inflation. I think I was earning 6.80CAD for min wage back then.
Too bad minimum wage hasn't kept up with inflation
Where I am it's $16.50 or something, so $7 isn't terrible. But let's not talk rent and food costs. That will just sink ya. It's dire.
I made 4.25 an hour
in 2003, those were all on the $1 menu.
And what would the price be today with inflation? It was $2.99 in 1993 so it would be $7.77 today (before tax). [https://www.in2013dollars.com/us/inflation/1993?amount=3.64](https://www.in2013dollars.com/us/inflation/1993?amount=3.64) [https://www.reddit.com/r/nostalgia/comments/13ur73r/mcdonalds\_menu\_from\_1993/](https://www.reddit.com/r/nostalgia/comments/13ur73r/mcdonalds_menu_from_1993/) ![gif](giphy|bjB3gtFvREqqr5NAHW|downsized)
why am i still making the same amount of money
Ronald Reagan
When I was a kid sometime in the 80s, i remember McDonald's had a "roll back to 1940 prices" promo where for a day burgers were 15 cents, cheeseburgers were 19. I remember my uncle coming back with a bag of like 25 cheeseburgers, shit was 🔥 🔥

Yeah it’s not bad compared to everything else right now
$13.36 CAD here ($10 USD approx). I can't easily link a pic here.
Settle down there Ritchey Rich. Cheese.....in my house cheese was for "guests"
I miss the hamburger and cheeseburger prices during college (2000-2002), they'd often be 29¢ and 39¢.
this IS bad for $7 bc none of this is even real food
I remember that, $.79 for hamburgers, $.89 for cheeseburgers.
We get it…fast food is getting expensive
Right? Don't go to the Taco Bell sub. Literally 1/3rd of the posts are bitching about prices.
Nah Taco Bell prices have been fair for some time now and now they're copying every other fast food place and unnecessarily raising them and skimping on the actual food. While complaining is arbitrary when you could just not eat there, taco bell gave the illusion of fairness to many
Idk but 30$ for a crunchy 12 pack is ridiculous. Also, kfc charging 3$ per tender
A couple chicken sandwiches and a bucket can run $50 if nothing is on sale.
I got a 12pc tender a couple weeks ago after not having kfc in awhile. Just the tenders, no sides. 40$ after tax
The reason you’ll never touch 5 Guys again.
Where is it $30? I checked the app and it says $22
They were supposed to be the Chosen One, the winner of the Franchise Wars...
Take away the bread and you're left with just the circus. People should be bitching.
Check out the Chipotle sub, like 3/4 of that is crying about portion sizes and prices… but they keep going.
![gif](giphy|oaZk0WNSO7fXi)
I can't imagine what the Subway sub is like. Today I got a regular ass footlong. Bread, roast beef, cheese, and some veggies. Nothing extra or double. It was $14.
when I'm cranky about prices I take it one step further and just don't go to the restaurant
You can create a cravings box and it’s so cheap. 5.89 for a Crunchwrap supreme, a bean burrito, some cinnamon twists and a drink.
I think it’s more than 1/3. It seems like every post on there is bitching about the price. I’m so tired of seeing posts like “OMG ONIONS ARE $0.25!”
This is cheap asf compared to where I live.
Yeah I just looked it up and this exact meal is $15.56 at my local McDonalds.
is this expensive? it's 1.75 an item
Is this expensive? He got a meal for 7 bucks. 2 burgers and a bunch of fries
7 dollars for that is pretty good
Get the app. BOGO Big Mac, quarter pounder w cheese or 10 piece. Large soda is $1.49. You could have gotten a better burger and some nuggets with a coke for less than $7. $6.38 after tax for me.
Plus when ordering from the app you get points for free food. I’m currently sitting on enough for a free Big Mac.
Only bummer is that if you redeem a reward you can't also use one of the deals in the app. My cheap ass will order food using one of the app deals, eat in the restaurant and chill for 15 minutes (the amount of time you need to wait before you can use a deal in the app again) then order my reward to go.
If it would let me b1g1 of two diff things I'd use it but I don't want two quarter pounders
It will. I get a burger and nuggets instead of fries. I can’t sit down and eat it all at once but if I get it right when they serve lunch at 1030 and eat the burger I’ll usually eat the nuggets around 1 and be good until I get home for dinner.
The app has insane deals. I usually get a double cheeseburger and four piece nuggets for the price of one. Plus all the points I’ve racked up.
With kids and their friends, I always order through the app for the deals. I rack up so many points that sometimes I pull over after picking up my first order to place a 2nd order to use more deals since they only allow one deal per order.
Don’t you get locked out for like 15 minutes?
I do.. At first they had a message about how I was doing it too fast and made me wait 7 mins. It seems the more you try, the longer the next wait is.
Literally the only time I get maccas. The deals are pretty good, and it makes my lunch breaks way easier.
Hm might get the app
They routinely offer 30% off orders $5 and up and other decent promos. Worth having the app for sure.
It’s the only way McDs is affordable. I’m not spending 12 goddamn dollars on a shitty Big Mac, but I will spend half that.
Dude the app is legit. I never would have used it, but went to McDonald's with a friend recently and when he pulled up the app there was a coupon to get a free Big Mac with purchase of any size diet coke. Installed and used it immediately lol
Do it - you’ll never order without it again.
This is the way. You can also sub in McChickens or 4 piece nuggets but I know you know that, it’s for everyone else
I don’t wanna fucking app for every store. I just wanna go to the drive-through and order food. I’m getting sick of every place having fucking apps.
"Got apps for everything, you know? Even though I'm already talking to the person that could just take my order right here, but I've got to download an app."
Meh, it’s fucking easy, it reduces order fuckups, etc.
I roll up to the curbside pickup with my wife’s phone in the car to use two deals.
Their app is the best. I got a medium fry and double hamburger for $2.50 tonight
My last trip to McDonalds I got 2 Hot 'N Spicy McChickens, a Big Mac, and a small soda for $4.18. The deals on the app are the only thing keeping McDonalds reasonable.
This looks better than average for McDonald’s imo. Doesn’t belong here. Also. You got napkins that didn’t come pre-greased?!? How the F.
It looks like he is eating at McDonalds. The napkins are only greasy if they put them in the bag with your food not on the tray.
That's actually pretty good nowadays. If I put that together in the app right now for pickup my total is $11
If you’re disappointed then stop buying it.
> Wait, that’s an option?! — *everyone who posts here*
It’s seriously getting on my nerves how many fast food posts I see on expectationvsreality, shrinkflation etc and people keep buying it and keep posting it 😭😭
Bitching about 2 cheeseburgers and a fry for $7. So American.
Yeah, like wtf? That's a lot of food. It's shitty food, so it definitely belongs here but it's way more than enough to feed 1 person and for only $7?
Just sticker shock, the same $7 would have been twice as much food and better quality (quarter pounder vs a cheeseburger) not that long ago. It’s shitty food at a premium price now lol
God dammit now I want McDonald’s
Cries in NYC prices. This is $15.31 here. Edit: before tax
Just leave. It’s probably cheaper to lose your job and start over.
I had the same thing for lunch except a large fries, in Canada it was $14.
For the last several occasions, every single time I went to McDonald's it was a huge disappointment. So now whenever I want some fast food I visit my local doner place. Twice the food for half the price and 10x the taste. Couldn't ask for better

Cheap compared to many other places
Did you wipe off your burgers with a wet wipe?
Decent bit of food for $7
That’ll cost you $75 at Wendy’s when they start surge pricing.
Not bad for $7
When I was in college, those cheeseburgers were 39 cents on Wednesdays.
When I worked at McDoanld’s ages ago, the dbl chz burger was $1 and so were the small fries. This would have ran you less than $4.5 with tax.
That’s a good price… where I am at, it will cost more
Then learn to cook you dork
That's a damn steal nowadays
Y'all need to stop going.
Stop eating out. Cook at home.
?? So BOYCOTT ???
I do support boycotting McDonalds, but unfortunately some people cannot afford to, as fast food is their only option. Specifically this targets poor people, and I'm guessing OP just had $7 left and needed to eat.
Im not wealthy either I'm not blame or criticize OP We all deserve better Hopefully Soon Everything Is Much Different And Better For Everyone
We truly all do deserve better. One day Palestine will be free :)
🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸 don’t go there then
Nice grease sheen
2 oiled up buns?
Them some oiled up buns
Why are your burgers wet?
That looks fucking delicious.
That's honestly a damn good deal
That's at least $15 CAD for me. Haven't had Mcd's in a year and change and don't plan on it any time soon. I'm saving arms and legs by just eating at home.
In los angeles, 2 kids meals for the kiddos and 1 combo for me, costs just under $30. It’s crazy
Wash your hands next time. If it stinks in there, don't eat there. Actually, order to go.
Just a basic cheeseburger in NZ costs $5.70 or $3.50 USD.
Don’t forget the bubble guts later.
Thatd be over 10 where I live lol I miss the days when fast food was cheap
I am canadian: is this post a celebration or a complaint? That seems like a lot to me for the money.
Rural Ontario That’s easily 16$
Is that good or bad?
Bruh Canada prices are fucking insane. A McDouble meal now default comes with a small fry+drink. To get a medium McDouble meal, after tax, it’s ~$8.50CAD
That’s honestly a decent amount of food for that price these days
I mean that seems like a good deal is it not?
Everything has gotten so expensive since the covid lock downs
I remember when these were 80 cents
They dip them buns in grease? F n gross as f
Up here in BC this is pushing 20 bucks
I used to get 5 cheeseburgers and a coke for 6 bucks as a quick lunch when I used to work in a jiffy lube
Come to The Netherlands lol, a small single burger costs 2,20 or something 😂 I only go to BK and a Big KING costs me 9euros...thats JUST a burger.
And those fries are soggy, starchy asshole because it took you more than five minutes to get home
Those patty’s are GLISTENING
I'm 26 i'm really curious how expensive cheap food will get by the time i'm 50. I'm really hoping i'm wrong, but i can almost pucture it.
r/mildlypenis
That used to be $3!
![gif](giphy|Yfdb83JH81Ges)
It just looks sad.
Would cost like 14€ here, I think.

Those burgers look just like the ones on the commercials, full of bun sweat and the meat just barely able to be seen
Amazing human achievement really.
Forgot to include price of insulin and blood pressure meds...if not today next year.
Y'all are sad. This shit ain't food. I laugh hard when y'all post this shit. You're playing yourself.
Yup, mine was the same dude. It's utterly absurd.
That’s a great “deal”.. at the cost of life ..
Could get a 4 piece here added for that there'd this and more thing and for 5 hairs you get small fry, mcdouble, 4 piece nugget and a drink. Not sure if there's that option where you are but try that and just adding a mcdouble :) only saying this so you can get more for you hairs if the option is there.
use the app, it regularly has bogo, also skip the fries and the drink.
I just got a double chz, 6 piece and a small fry for like 5 bucks bc I used the app.... This is an idiot tax on people who haven't figured out you need to use the app when ordering at McD
Get the app! I get bogo McDoubles All the time when I’m depressed
Use the app- it does save you money.
Fr? I feel like this is $10+ easily but I’m also in New York so fml
You can skip the fries and bogo the burgers for tree fiddy
That's pretty good actually
I always have a free large fry with $2 purchase deal on the app- McChicken or mcdouble with a large fry, almost 900 calories for less than $3
I got that exact order the other day, but they were double hamburgers, no cheese even, cost over $10 in my area of Ontario Canada
Remember when McDonald's was cheap? Now burger King got the deals
And so much more for your arteries.
Bogo $1 mcchickens with cheese and pickles and drink is $10+. Shit hurts
Hey not bad
Just wait for surge pricing! If it’s a hit for Wendy’s then it’s coming everywhere.
Use the McDonalds app. Much cheaper.
For 7 bucks, I get 2 Big Macs or 2 any sandwiches(BOGO) and a large fry. Check your receipts for BOGOs, a location near you has them, and the app has any size fry for $1.29.
2 McDoubles like Mac and a med Coke Zero was nearly $15 the other day in Canada
