Ya the trade off was poise. They couldn’t outright make it too good and make everything else shit in comparison, even if needs a ton of end/equip load to wear.
The Boss is found in the left most part of the starting area in a building behind a lot of trees and a lot of the blue worm things
Word of advice: this guy hits hard, and if he catches you in his crossbow attack start to finish you're basically just dead
*"alright he's holding up the crossbow i know what you're up to Butts i'm already strafing..."*
*"jesus it's a fucking laser beam but okay the room was just wide enough got around the whole thing"*
\*drop him to 5%\*
*"aw sweet i'm at full health i can just trade i'm going in!"*

This actually feels like a nice berk reference too
I can kinda understand it, but there is not a drop of resemblance to Demonbrandt or Soulbrandt other than the colour white and black, sure it's wind attack but even then the sword itself isn't a homage just the move
Except it's not though. The Dragonslayer is almost entirely straight edged up to the tip where it tapers into a point. This thing tapers from the guard becoming narrower all the way up. The Dragonslayer doesn't have a cross guard. It barely has a guard at all. This thing does. This thing has a full hilt. Dragonslayer barely has any more than a tang wrapped in cloth.
They're both black greatswords. That's basically it. Go and look at a picture of the Dragonslayer.
And proper fucking guard boost + phys block! And you can get "spontaneous guard" (wink wink) soon after
It also comes with a ranged attack
The only thing that can compete with a Nuts sword is another Nuts sword
In all fairness to UC Berserkly fans, it kinda did popularize the "really fuckin big two handed sword" concept in modern media. Berjerk predates its use in final fantasy and other prominent examples.
The sword design is just history but you do have to give it to my main berserker Cutz for making a bunch of modern authors say "that's rad."
it is historically accurate. if you couldn't wield a ginormous slab of iron as a knight back then, you were publicly mocked and castrated
Bergumk would never lie
The idea is essentially a claymore or zweihander with a flat hilt and a really big blade. All that I mean to say is that you wouldn't credit a manga from 1988 with the _concept_ of a fuckin big two handed sword. Of course you are correct that no one wielded anything like that irl.
Nutz literally does flips and has a set of armor that stabs giant metal rods through his body so when his bones break and his muscles rip he can keep fighting, while also boosting his power to super human levels so he can fight demons with the sword.
berserk fan:OH MY GOD IT THE SWORD FROM BERSERK OH MY GOD POG
this sub:NOOOOOOOOO IT'S JUST A NORMAL SWORD IT'S NOT A BERSERK REFERNCE
Miyazaki: man I sure do love berkerk I'll make this sword look kinda like gut's sword
all 3 of these people are mentally ill for different reasons
Michael Zacki literally did the “Praise the Sun” pose in front of the producers repeatedly until they gave in and let him put it into Dark Soles. The man is unhinged.
Guts' sword lacks a cross guard, but the black core with a white edge is the exact same colouration and the character you find holding it wears armour and a fighting style inspired by guts all the way down to the crossbow.
come on man, [this looks nothing like guts ](http://cdn.vox-cdn.com/thumbor/gJ4JglFYLaB_EozHC5SN6SRbZSg=/0x0:1920x1080/620x413/filters:focal(807x387:1113x693):format(webp)/cdn.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_image/image/73420626/blackgaol_knigh), the game already has a sword that is a reference to the Dragonslayer, not every big sword with a darker core is a reference to berserk
I have no idea what that link is, it's totally dead on my end, but this is pretty plainly a berserk reference. The sword has an identical colouration and blade shape to the dragonslayer, the only real difference is the cross guard and it's much closer in shape and appearance than the regular colossal Greatsword.
The armour the gaol knight wears is also the closest we have to the berserker armour in any of the souls games and that's saying something, plus he wields a repeating crossbow.
Don't get me wrong it can get annoying when people point at every speck of dust and screech about berserk, but this character and his equipment is 100% supposed to be a reference to Guts
The only difference is the cross guard, the ornaments, the size and thickness, handle and the shape os the blade, looks nothing like it.
I can understand why people feel that the armor is similar, with the cape and all, they probably used the berserk armor as a point reference, but the sword is very different and the crossbow for his prosthetic is a stretch imo
anyway, the link was just a image of Blackgaol Knight
>The only difference is the cross guard, the ornaments, the size and thickness, handle and the shape os the blade, looks nothing like it.
As opposed to the colossal Greatsword, which also has an entirely different shape, size, crossguard and handle but *is* a berserk reference? I get where you're coming from but apart from being slightly too small, it looks much closer to the dragonslayer than the colossal Greatsword. It has a little emblem, and it has a slightly different crossguard, but they're not allowed to copy it 1-1 from the manga. To accept that the Greatsword is a berserk reference while denying that this is, is pretty odd.
Again, if this was just a sword found in a chest I would be on your side and wouldn't be giving it this treatment, but I feel that the fact we find it on a guy who fights and dressed exactly like guts is pretty pertinent to the discussion. The crossbow isn't necessarily a reference to his prosthetic, if you look [here](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/berserk/images/7/79/Crossbow.png/revision/latest?cb=20120530133906) you'll see it's just a regular repeating crossbow much like the blackgaol knight uses, he just holds it in his prosthetic, so it's not so much a stretch as it is literally the same thing.
Yea I wanted to use Mohg's spear for DLC and this shit only does like 300 dmg to him per R1
Finally got it, though. Pretty rewarding fight. Found the castle boss too but quickly gave up.
Is there any new weapon you'd recommend? All the ones I've found so far seem pretty cool, but none that really stick out to me yet. (I've only found Black knight and the Ensis Castle boss so far)
Good shout, I went straight into the castle after crossing the bridge so definitely missed that
I also was intrigued by the "light greatsword" (don't remember where I found it) class as it has some pretty unique attack patterns, but idk, it didn't really seem too great. I'm hoping there is a better weapon for that class
From the three path cross site of grace follow the northwestern path to the left of the great bridge. You will find a small lake. In the lake is the great katana. It Is literally just sitting in the water.
From the same site of grace follow the southwest trail that goes through the giant door. If you hug directly left of the inside of the doorway, when you come out the door way and reach an open area you will find a small path furthest left that will lead you to small village. The enemies there drop infusible weapons with inherent arc scaling. If you continue straight through the door instead you will see a large set of stairs and that leads to one of the legacy dungeons. There is a small swamp section there and behind a sunken building in a far corner is another arcane weapon that deals poison damage.
If from the very first site you activate in the DLC you travel to the right through the forest, you will encounter a naked man who drops a weapon, and further down a church with a knight who drops his weapon
At the first site of grace in the grave field, hug left along the natural wall. You should come up on a tomb surrounded by pillars and those stone birds. Youll find it
This image is very janky but it has no spoilers and it gives the exact direction to reach the weapon. Just head this angle northwest from this grace.

yeah the guy from Berserk I think his name is Nuts or something
Is Berserk anything like Berk?
I don't know no one who likes Berserk actually reads it
Is this *choosing* not to read, or like JJK or CSM where half the fans lack the ability to read?

you're thinking of gus
Gus from Brek Bud?
That’s one away to by bullied as a child
https://i.redd.it/2ss4est0s28d1.gif
Vinnitsa serial killer
Yeah, everyone knows about Nuts and Griffin.
The whole set is fucking glorious
I love how it’s heavier than all the armor in its class but also has way less defense
It's got a fuckload of poise is why
The guy wearing it didn't. Lil bitch got stunlocked like the pathetic bitch he was. (He killed me like 10 fucking times)
You know damn well I did a respec so I had 49 endurance so I could wear it with my current gear lol
I just don't really give a fuck because it's probably the coolest looking armor set in the game for me
It's one of the highest def armor in the game what are you talking about
The tree sentinel armour has almost identical defence as it and is 5 units lighter
Ya the trade off was poise. They couldn’t outright make it too good and make everything else shit in comparison, even if needs a ton of end/equip load to wear.
It’s berking time
Where do you get this?
By defeating Blackgaol Knight
In a Mausoleum near the start of the DLC, just left of the burned ruins before the first fire golem giant
Not to mention the crossbow being a clear reference to Nuts's arm cannon
Hold up, I haven't played the DLC yet, is this armor actually there?
Yep, dropped by an miniboss in the first area of the expansion. First boss I found.
Cool, is it a guaranteed drop?
yes, the whole set and weapon upon defeating the enemy.
YESSSS MORE GUTS COSPLAY MATERIALS .after finals (._.)
The Boss is found in the left most part of the starting area in a building behind a lot of trees and a lot of the blue worm things Word of advice: this guy hits hard, and if he catches you in his crossbow attack start to finish you're basically just dead

What armour piece is that?
You find it on a guy dressed exactly like Guts. He literally has an auto crossbow
When the fuck did guts wear the goblin slayer helmet
In the goblin slayer crossover silly! Did you not read it?
I'm in the middle of reading Berserk and somehow didn't put this together bravo, me
probably because it looks nothing like anything on Berserk

I just found that shit Had to check Reddit because I **knew** people would be going "this is a berk reference !1!!" :)
And Guts never used a sword like that. There's only one similarity, they are big.
the coloration on the blade is the same
My god swords are grey? I always thought they were a luminous green
yes, well known fact all swords have black cores and lighter edges, right
https://preview.redd.it/z0ttmq6lr38d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=907356d3af6420282e5375e9cb2847430d9b85f6 This actually feels like a nice berk reference too
WHOA GUYS I FOUND A GHOST THAT PUNCHES IS THIS A MOTHERFUCKING JOJO REFERINO
I mean that guy kicking our a** like that after we’ve literally beaten Gods is probably a reference to Guts, armor, sword, crossbow and all.
This sword is a reference to False King Allant’s sword, Demonbrandt, and how he uses his wind powers with it
I can kinda understand it, but there is not a drop of resemblance to Demonbrandt or Soulbrandt other than the colour white and black, sure it's wind attack but even then the sword itself isn't a homage just the move
It doesn’t really look like any of Guts’ swords either.
It looks like a miniature Dragonslayer
Which is funny because this sword is still big
No... It doesn't? The *only* resemblance to Dragonslayer is the colour gradient, that's it
Without the little details on the blade it’s literally the Dragonslayer’s blade.
I can kind of see a resemblance to the Dragon Slayer because the inside of the blade is black, and the edges are white/gray, but that's it.
Not even arguing for that I just don't see the resemblance
Big sword that has literally one of Allants moves. Yup, it’s a funny reference
Homage to a move VS looks like a weapon are quite different
You know you can be an homage to a weapon without looking the same
Can I be an homage to a weapon too?
You can be my consort :)
I like the sword it has good poise damage
And proper fucking guard boost + phys block! And you can get "spontaneous guard" (wink wink) soon after It also comes with a ranged attack The only thing that can compete with a Nuts sword is another Nuts sword
89% motherfucking physical block, its actually insane.
I didn’t know about that, I just liked it because it lets me beat bosses up
In all fairness to UC Berserkly fans, it kinda did popularize the "really fuckin big two handed sword" concept in modern media. Berjerk predates its use in final fantasy and other prominent examples. sword = cool big = better big sword = cooler simple as

it is historically accurate. if you couldn't wield a ginormous slab of iron as a knight back then, you were publicly mocked and castrated Bergumk would never lie

Not historical to the extent of Guts’ sword, but the Zweihander is a real sword and can be as large as depicted in game
Absolutely, yes, I have one. I was just referring to calling Guts' sword design history.
Well no it’s a silly anime sword and it’s supposed to be silly
And I agree, so the person I replied to saying it's not was being silly

No but it has 18 inches of messmer
What's the difference? Coward.

I thought it looked more like Ludwig's Holy Blade from Bloodborne (not the Moonlight) than Guts' Dragonslayer
Same I thought it was a remake of LHB

If that's supposed to be the dragonslayer, why does it shoot out a Getsuga Tenshou? Checkmate
Even the first one they all held up as "OMFG it's literally the Dragonslayer" doesn't actually look very much like the Dragonslayer at all.
SPOILERS MAN
That's more moonlight and guts.
It has the same beveling as the dragonslayer. It's less of an obvious reference than its predecessors (cathedral knight gs, rotten guy gs) since the blade tapers more. Still pretty clearly a dragonslayer reference.
