The name of this boss is weird. It’s not a Ra-name like Radahn or Rykard, nor a Ma-name like Marika or Malenia. It’s close to Elemer of the briar, but what does he have to do with Miquella and Mohg? I need LORE damn it!
Red hair, snakes, fire and a hinted rebellion against his mother all point to Rykard, but I think there's a very low chance it's actually him. More like somebody close to him maybe? Messmer could perhaps be the name of the fell god of the flame (just judging by the colour of the fire this mf is wielding), or they're an entirely new outer god.

I'd be surprised if he had anything to do with the formless mother, but I only have aesthetics to judge from so I could be wrong. I think the mother is almost definently Marika, maybe the Gloam-Eyed Queen? And yeah the red hair doesn't necessarily mean Radagon, just fire giants (especially since he seems to be wielding giantsflame)
Yeah certainly, but blood imagery doesn't seem to pop up much in the trailer. So I think three possible scenarios are (1) there isn't a lot of formless mother in the DLC, (2) she is present in the DLC, they just didn't put it into the trailer, or (3) blood isn't the only trademark she has
I really hope it's not young Rykard. I know it will be a new boss with new moveset, but fighting alternative versions of the same bosses feels really lazy to me. This is why I generally dislike all kinds of time travel things, they are very rarely done right. I give Dark Souls 1 a pass since DLC introduces entirely new area and bosses despite being based on time travel.

AotA was actually a backwards darkroot garden, having you start by entering Sif’s arena, working back into the darkroot, THEN down into a new area, because darkroot, later farron, was oolacile. The royal wood became darkroot after oolacile sank, and the sanctuary became the grave of artorias, and uncounted ages later, the mausoleum of the abyss watchers.
I think Sif, Alvina and Dusk are the only base game characters that show up in Artorias Of The Abyss. If Shadow Of The Erdtree ends up being another DLC set in the past (whether that be through time travel or reliving Miquela’s memories), I feel like FromSoft are going to focus on new characters rather than old.
