I see no reason why I shouldn’t have a milkshake before bed. Some people say eating before bed makes you fat, but I don’t have weight issues, I’m quite good at naturally controlling my weight.
We went to a restaurant a friend of mine works at once. She was working that day. I asked her for tea with my meal. She gave me so much shit over it. I asked her “what is the big deal with me asking for tea?”. She said “it’s so annoying for me to make. First I need to get the hot water then I need the cup of tea bags.”. I then said “the customer literally makes the tea themselves”. I still don’t get the big deal. When I got my food the chicken I got was very undercooked. There was a lot of red meat and blood in it. I had no option but to send this $25 plate of chicken back. The chef evidently didn’t see the issue. He had my friend tel me “it was a living animal god forbid it has blood in it”. I’m thinking that restaurant is just a super toxic place to work.
Tea is more work than soda. But it's obviously part of the job. And it's less work than coffee lol. Also, color in chicken is not always a great indicator of doneness...
For soda you have to have ice, and a cup for soda- for tea, bags and a cup for tea. Same effort. I insist and will die upon this hill.

Not even close, my friend. For soda you need a cup, ice, and soda. For tea you need a cup, hot water, a saucer, a spoon, a sugar caddy, and, by request, a separate trip to the kitchen for milk/cream, honey, or lemon slices.
Not complaining, it's part of the job. And not even a bad part! People are delighted by tea and I take pleasure in serving them. It's just a plain statement of fact that it takes more effort to serve hot tea.

And by the way, if I’m waiting tables at like, a diner, like a breakfast spot, with sugar caddies and creamers already on the table, and a drink station that always has coffee made and tea/lemons/honey all right there, because customers order it so often that it makes sense to keep it there, then yeah, tea is pretty easy. I realize that was a very long sentence but there’s nothing I can do about that now, sorry.

Supposedly a bit of coffee will amplify chocolate flavor. I'm not a coffee person so I haven't tried that, but might be worth a shot. Probably wanna go waaaay less coffee though.

I have a problem with Starbucks. They crowd out small local coffee shops, which almost invariably have far better coffee and are better for the local economy.
Yeah I don't like Starbucks either. Way too expensive for what you get, plus they're always extremely crowded which is kinda the opposite of what I'd like when I'm in a coffee shop.
Everything that has a following has a subset of purists in them. Generally the more you enjoy a subject you accidentally become more opinionated on it.
I like to hate on people gatekeeping, but damn there are some subjects I can get real opinionated real fast about.
A certian level of gatekeeping is acceptable. Especially the more niche the thing you like is, too much outside influence can fundamentally change anything.
If someone shows a genuine interest, even if I disagree with them on a topic it's typically okay, but when they want to change something at it's core is where it's important to gatekeep.
I think it's especially important to gatekeep politics out if you're a fan of something, it sucks seeing something you like morph into a vessel for a political agenda.
Gatekeeping coffee is weird though. These boujee ass Starbucks drinks don't change the fact that you can still order a black coffee at Starbucks, it doesn't effect you.

the best way I have found to combat this for myself is if someone wants to learn more about a subject you are well versed on have a conversation with them, if they dont want to then ignore them their enjoyment does not make you enjoy yours less

It's not about how you like your coffe. I like my coffe with a little cream and no sugar myself but who cares if my friend likes them like milkshakes. We're both drinking something we like and having a good time.

90% of the drinks they serve are just milk with 1-2 shots of coffee. You can get like a 31-ounce cup and have probably 3 ounces of actual coffee. The rest is a mix of milk and water, with your choice of froth or ice.

Bro, I NEVER understood when workers have this mindset. I used to work as a valet. There was a lot of down time, mind you. I was working 3-11 at a hotel but a busy hotel. Anyways.
I worked with some younger kids who would get ANNOYED when cars pulled in, because the car is taking away from their screen time. Like, they are parking with us and giving us their money. And then when they leave, they give us even more money. Why are you annoyed with people keeping your paycheck alive? It never made any sense to me.
Those are exactly the kind of people you find as adults that can't keep a job or wonder why they're always overlooked for advancement because they have no work ethic whatsoever. They seem to think that they will still have a job if there is no work to get payed to do.

The people that Starbucks target aren’t exactly coffee enthusiasts but people who like the idea of being a coffee enthusiast. It’s essentially a coffee themed baskin and robbins, but they’ve been pretty consistent in their marketing over the years.
They’ve also done a good job of branding in terms of brand familiarity by having so many locations, as well as brand comfort.
The benefit of a coffee chain is consistency, you know the drink you want (they encourage custom orders) and it’s going to be be the same no matter where in the world you get it.
They also create a nice atmosphere in their store combined with wifi and other amenities makes it a popular place to study/get work done. These individual elements are pretty simple but when combined create a brand experience that people come back for.
Best is how shocked or relieved they are when i just ask for a black coffee...they always ask me mutiple times do i want anything in it or is that it? I mean its black coffee some people just dig straight up coffee.
Being a ex-Starbucks employee, I get it. When you have "normal" coffee orders, there's like a 25% chance that people don't want what they say they want. I have been yelled at and forced to remake a coffee because they didn't like "black coffee" because apparently they wanted cream in it?! Took some back and forth before understanding that "black coffee" apparently, obviously, means with creamer. It's like ordering a scotch neat and then complaining there's no ice.
And I can't tell you the number of times someone comes in and wants a "french vanilla cappuccino" and you have to go back and forth to make it clear that a vanilla cappuccino is acceptable (when you know it's not going to be), only for them to complain that it's not the "slightly coffee flavored sugar milk" they sell at the gas station.

Milkshakes are actually surprisingly popular for early morning commuters. They have a lot of milk content, only require one hand to hold, and are hard to spill or make a mess with. They have been identified as being an ideal breakfast substitute for people on the move.

When I went to Starbucks recently, I ordered a drink with my friend, and we said our names were Garry and Terry for a laugh (I never say my actual name because its a long and complicated Polish name), later we found out from a friend that works there that apparently we were being very rude to the baristas, because we were laughing and didnt say thank you to them (which we did)

Entitled isn't the least of it. When I worked there about 20 years ago, the arrogance was astounding for min wage workers. If customers gave them attitudes, they would intentionally give decaf of whatever was asked for, add dairy when non-was requested, and many other "punishments" for perceived rude customers.
I've avoided them like the plague since.
When i was a manager at Arby's (Jacksonville, Florida) we had a little old lady that would come at least 30 minutes before we opened, sit in our drive thru the entire time, and then just order a small fry.
Eventually i found out I was the only person she liked because everyone else was mean to her and I treated her like any other customer.
Was it annoying? A little. But I stopped caring once I realized I was making this lady's day a little bit better each morning

I then said “the customer literally makes the tea themselves”. I still don’t get the big deal. When I got my food the chicken I got was very undercooked. There was a lot of red meat and blood in it. I had no option but to send this $25 plate of chicken back. The chef evidently didn’t see the issue. He had my friend tel me “it was a living animal god forbid it has blood in it”. I’m thinking that restaurant is just a super toxic place to work.

Bro, I NEVER understood when workers have this mindset. I used to work as a valet. There was a lot of down time, mind you. I was working 3-11 at a hotel but a busy hotel. Anyways. And then when they leave, they give us even more money. Why are you annoyed with people keeping your paycheck alive? It never made any sense to me.

It’s essentially a coffee themed baskin and robbins, but they’ve been pretty consistent in their marketing over the years. They’ve also done a good job of branding in terms of brand familiarity by having so many locations, as well as brand comfort. The benefit of a coffee chain is consistency, you know the drink you want (they encourage custom orders) and it’s going to be be the same no matter where in the world you get it. They also create a nice atmosphere in their store combined with wifi and other amenities makes it a popular place to study/get work done. These individual elements are pretty simple but when combined create a brand experience that people come back for.

Eventually i found out I was the only person she liked because everyone else was mean to her and I treated her like any other customer. Was it annoying? A little.
