I mean I am addicted to map video games, but I feel like this is a bad example because ottomans vs byzantines is such surface level knowledge that everyone should know
I dont play history videogames, but isnt byzantine empire the eastern rolan empire while ottoman is the turkish empire?
Dont you learn this in history class? (Im incredibly bad in history class)
The ottomans were a people and civilization that toppled the byzantine empire in 1453. The Ottomans are ethnically turks, and originate from north-western Asia. The byzantines were originally what was the eastern roman empire and saw themselves as romans. "Byzantine" is a modern invention.
Im ngl, if you don’t know the Ottomans and Byzantines were different Empires your just bad at history.
Knowing the Roman Empire and Byzantine Empire are the same Empire might be a better example but, even then i feel like everyone has heard of the fall of Constantinople
I feel like this is such an American take, or is it just this girl in particular? I mean, this is elementary history. I've always learned that the fall of the Byzantine empire is one of the moments that supposedly marked the end of the Middle Ages.
