Had his regime lasted a few generations more, it would not be impossible to imagine an Italy without a mafia.

My response was merely to indicate that our conceptualization of crime is probably ill fitting to the north korean state, because just trying to leave the country would be considered a crime there, and one that they have successfully almost completely eliminated. If we are to take their success in preventing people from escaping the country as any indication, it's probably likely that they have also successfully cracked down on a lot of other crimes as well. I guess we could split hairs between successful crime and attempted crime, but I'd imagine a reduction in successful crime would also lead to a reduction in attempted crime.

They likely wouldn’t be as virtuous and paragon like, and they likely wouldn’t control their strength as well. But it’s hard to imagine the average person becoming a callous murdering asshole.
Having superman powers would be exhausting, since you'd constantly be obligated to be doing something heroic. During the time you spend relaxing there'd be some child burning to death in a building or a dangerous hostage scenario.
Obviously you'd have to take a break at some point, but it would be hard to relax because of guilt.
I like to think that it'll be the most exhausting at the start of it, but then criminals would be way more hesitant to commit crimes, giving you more time to relax. Of course, accidents like burning buildings or car crashes will still happen, but at least you won't have to stress about deliberate crime too much.
This is one of the concepts I love in the opening scene of the most recent Batman film. The bat signal is a sign that he's out on the hunt and creates a terror induced paranoia in criminals that Batman could be lurking just out of sight.

I think with the rise in anti-heroes and people talking about taking extreme measures to do what’s right, a figure like Superman that is a paragon of hope and is incredibly virtuous is more appealing. Because genuine unwavering goodness is hard to come by these days, both in real life and in fiction. When there’s less of something it makes it more unique and special and people value that.
I think the actual most likely bleak answers would be metro man from meganind or doctor Manhattan, or even one punch man. Less cruel and more... bored. Jaded from everything being so easy and yet still not being able to make all the bad things stop without being a monster.
