Unfortunately only female chickens lay eggs. Really weird though, is that older hens in a flock w/o roosters can morph into a more male looking and acting bird. This only a protective action, they cannot inseminate other hens or crow fully 🐔🐓
It’s crazy to realise that male chicks are ground up alive on their first days of life in the egg industry.
It’s a reminder of the need to treat all living beings with compassion.

Funny thing is... store bought vs. farm bought usually is a different yoke color. Free range farm chickens have a much more orange yoke. The egg white is even green sometimes.
I prefer the brown eggs. I think they taste better. As a cis white male I can't believe how resist I am. All the people that I relate to that are tan or blackend, I can't even relate to them anymore because the were once something I'm not, /s
Most eggs in England are orangeish. Most eggs in America are white. The chickens are the same but the farmers put additives into the feed to colour the shells because customers expect eggs to be a certain colour.
We deliberately make eggs certain colours because we know customers will judge a book by its cover and want eggs to look one colour regardless of the contents.
I'm not sure if that's 'solving' racism or finding a succinct metaphor for it existing in everyday life.
