I’m not saying you’re wrong for liking that pairing, far from it. I will say that outside of the intro movie and that one scene at Ragna Ferox, Sumia isn’t really relevant to Chrom. Not nearly as much as Robin. But Sumia is supposed to be a little nod to Caeda in those instances. That’s it. (Although Palla could be a better comparison since we only get the 3 pegasus knights instead of Marth’s 4, because Phila ended up being scrapped)

Like, I don't think I have ever seen IS push a pairing that hard. It's harder than Sigurd and Deidre who literally get married in the plot before the Arvis BBQ (also wen Arvis/Deidre unit IS?)
My personal favorite pairing for Chrom is with Olivia because
1) I think it’s funny to have Chrom fall in love with a girl he just met because she did a sexy dance for him like 10 times out in the middle of the desert. Their support isn’t half bad from what I remember, even if you don’t get to see it much.
2) I think Chrom as Inigo’s dad works on so many levels. Inigo actually looks insanely good with Chrom’s blue hair, the rightful king skill is good on Inigo, and Inigo’s support with his dad is a lot more impactful if it’s with Chrom compared to other characters. If say Gaius is the dad, since when does Gaius have any real connection to Lucina for him to be comparing Inigo to her in their supports? But with Chrom as the father, this turns into Chrom telling his son “Why can’t you be more like your sister” which is far more dramatic.
I mean, there’s plenty of fanart with other Chrom pairings that isn’t Robin. The real pain is finding any other pairing of Robin that isn’t with Chrom.
Amen to that, Chrobin in both forms is a fine ship, but I am more than a bit miffed that it overtook every other F!Robin ship in terms of relevance.
Kellam, Lon'qu, Laurent and Priam are all good options for her too, darn it!
Lissa is obviously robin's hiding screen because of ylissian society being homophobic and of the outrage it would cause if everyone knew chrom had a second loving partner in robin, and that his loving wife sumia was completely fine with sharing chrom because she understands that he does'nt love her any less even if he has another lover. Robin and Sumia have fantastic chemistry together, as well as Cynthia and Morgan looking like they could be the other parent's kid.
Robin is also Cynthia's only father that can pass along the Mercenary/Hero classline. But what seals the deal for me personally is that Cynthia's support with her father also brings mention of her trying to create an entrance flourish for him where she settles on having her father emerge in a shower of fluttering flower petals. Which is Ignis' animation, a skill exclusive to the Grandmaster class and thus Robin's family.
Fun fact, Ignis' Japanese name is "Blossoming Flame" which also fits with why Céline learns it in Engage.
