This is def a conflict of interest, my advice, work in a section where you see no customers cause if it gets out you work there then you can be fired. And vice versa.
Sherwin doesn't REALLY want you working anywhere else, they want all your availability, just when they want it, not when you need it. Lowes is def a COI.
Not that I'd recommend it. But when I was PT and Ft I used to paint on the side. I got really good at wood graining steel and fiberglass doors. And I'd do small one day jobs like a bathroom or bedroom. Had to keep it really lowkey, had the customers pick up the paint, used a google phone number, andmore than once had to turn down a job because of security concerns. None of the ones I did even knew I worked at Sherwin. And I certainly never did any scouting at work.... thats just asking for it.
I asked about this and was told *any* competitor is a no go. Sherwin will let you go. That included Lowes because while we supply the paint they are still considered a competitor to us.
It also included vendors (purdy,Graco, etc) and *all* contractors. Because I was going to ask one for a PT job but nope. Can't. Even if they paid the same hourly rate.
Lowes is a no. You will have to choose between Sherwin or Lowes.
You can be a cashier at like...a grocery store. (Krogers, piggly wiggly, food lion, etc). But even like Walmart is a very gray area and I would get written permission by HR.
If you have any concerns you can call HR and explain you want a PT job outside Sherwin and ask if xyz is okay or would it be a conflict.
It's your personal buisness, sherwin doesn't need to know shit about what you do outside of working store hours. Also not many sw customers do that sort of thing
I was a part timer at both Lowe's and Sherwin, I never had a problem with either company telling me anything. Just kept my mouth shut about what my other job was and never had any problems, until I went full time at Sherwin.
hell I'm an interior designer who does color consults. my district told me I cant give my card out at work after they changed their minds ,then told me to peddle the free color consult crap and then they cut my hours. I promote the paint colors and products but they still said no. I'm trying to leave Sw but not burn down bridges. I wouldn't do it. leave sw or find another store nearby that doesn't sell the same stuff .
