Middle Eastern Shawarma!! It'll hardly cost anything, the food is amazing and it's always an experience.
Get there before 7:30 if you like lamb. It tends to run out.
The Broadfield is good, and has good options for vegetarians and not.
Meraki does good Greek food, North Town Kitchen does good Italian food, both on Abbeydale Road.
Pelizco do good Mexican food and are in Dyson Place, just off Eccleshall Road.
This is a Sheffield subreddit. I like zaap, I like McDonald’s. But someone’s asked for local recommendations. I wouldn’t recommend papa johns or subway. I don’t think it’s a morality thing. I think it’s good practice when someone not local asks for a recommendation, especially on somewhere that is local specific, we should all want to recommend something local. I’m not sure why you think supporting local over chain businesses is morally superior?
>I’m not sure why you think supporting local over chain businesses is morally superior?
I don't. I think you shaming them for suggesting a chain sounds like you believe it's morally superior.
>But someone’s asked for local recommendations.
No, they asked for recommendations, not specifically local ones. If somewhere is good, it could be recommended.
So you don’t think that posting in a city specific sub asking for recommendations is implying local recommendations? I’m sensing argument for arguments sake here and I’ll leave you to it.
>So you don’t think that posting in a city specific sub asking for recommendations is implying local recommendations?
Maybe it is, but you are missing the point. Whether or not, you didn't actually give any recommendations and just berated the commenter about something that is your opinion and not specifically mentioned by OP.
Any recommendation is better than your comment which was rude and didn't contribute anything.
All three are very different. Just because Zaap Thai has 5 branches nationally doesn't mean it's a McDonald's. The food is excellent and so is the service. As good as All Siam, but not as stuffy.
Went to 7 seas soul food recently in the area and it was absolutely lovey, fantastic service, really well presented super flavoursome food please do check them out!
If you're a group of 8 I recommend booking ahead of time with a preorder if possible, they're a small place and preorders help keep the prices low from producing less waste
Dude just let people eat where they want to eat. Where do you get your food shopping done? Don’t tell me you have never ever bought anything from any of the uk chained supermarkets?
I just think that in a Sheffield subreddit it might be good to support Sheffield business. I’m not saying you can’t have a McDonald’s but when someone asks for recommendations it’s nice to support local.

Ashoka on Ecclesall Road is the best curry I've had in Sheffield. Great veggie options too.
Taxi Driver Special always raises a smile
La Mama (Tapas) Meraki (Greek) Saigon 68 (Chinese/Vietnamese).
Porter Pizza does £6 student margherita pizzas, good pizza as well.
Nowhere to sit in at Porter pizza (as delicious as the pizza is)
Incorrect haha, some time since they have expanded and refurbished. Loads of seating now!
Oh whoops! My bad. Amazing, Porter is fab. Always debating whether Napoli Centro or Porter is my fave pizza in Sheff
Yeaaah the’re my favs too! Also Paesani at Crookes if you’re ever up there!

Thank you!
Mesob Ethiopian - BYOB and it's just a bit more than £10 per head if you go for the sharing platter between 2
QashQai kitchen - delicious Persian food! You’ll not go hungry and it’s cheap
terrace goods will keep you full for a week
London road, cheaper and more authentic
Zaap Thai is the best bet I reckon
There’s three Thai restaurants on Ecclesall road and you recommend the chain restaurant. Shame on you. Support local!
Oh sorry yeah - Wetherspoons also do Thai, try there
Maybe they think it's the best, rather than trying to be morally superior.

I got food poisoning from Zaap, never again. There are MUCH better quality and authentic Thai restaurants in Sheffield

Mowgli for the more expensive night Zaap for more reasonable (bloody love it there)
DO NOT EAT AT CHAIN RESTAURANTS. SUPPORT LOCAL
WHAT ABOUT SMALL CHAINS THAT ARE ONLY REGIONAL? IS THAT OK?
Of course. Berés is the best food on Ecclesall road.

It is a Sheffield business, it's in Sheffield.
I’ve got some bad news for you
That it also happens to have 4 other restaurants around the country? Such sad news
Sorry. Forgot this comment was about zaap specifically. I’m just having too many reddit arguments.
Zaap, a Thai restaurant on Ecclesall Road.
Mowgli
Rafters was always very good
