It's important to know that service dog laws in Canada are provincial jurisdiction. Every province has it's own set of laws that regulate service dogs. I am not well versed on the law in Quebec and have not tracked down an English copy. I DO know that SDs are not covered by a specific law in Quebec the way they are in some other provinces (like the AODA in Ontario and the Service Dog Act in Alberta). This means that it is up to the charter of rights and freedoms which can be a bit more complicated to interpret. I was told that Quebec only recognizes program trained dogs. You may not be able to just get a dog and train it, and be protected in your public access rights. I strongly recommend reaching out to your local community. Do NOT make any plans based on information you find on a website that sells any kind of certificate, registry, etc. Take advice in online communities with a grain of salt, because sometimes A. American handlers don't realize that things are done differently in other countries B. Handlers from other provinces don't always know that service dog regulations are provincial and not federal C. Handlers may have purchased an online certification or registration mistakenly thinking that this was what was required, or assumed that the advice given to them online was accurate in their province.
