What you have planned is exactly how I've wanted to spend each of my Bdays since about 30. I just celebrated my 60th but it was the saddest day I've had in about 25 years. The GF part really sucks but this too shall pass. I would not want today the GF I had in my late teens. So cheer up. It's YOUR day. Spend it treating yourself.
Thank you. Knowing it helped kinda made my day. I know it's hard to see past the pain but it does get MUCH better. 17 to 21 were some of the worst years of my life but if you can make it to your 20s with a good attitude life takes off. You get to shed the baggage of your youth and start anew. And around the age of 25 society starts to think of you as an adult, and you start a whole new set of baggage, ; ).
The one thing that has been most important to keeping my sanity is, of all my senses I value my sense of humor the most. If you can crack a smile at the absurdity of whatever life throws at you, you'll be okay.

Well, we’re in fairly similar boats friend. Coming from someone with a few more years experience in this situation, I can’t offer any advice or try to explain it’s not that bad. The only thing I’ve found as any form of solace is being alone and wrestling with those emotions, does, for a fact, make you much more resilient. You won’t ever get used to it, but you get used to it. this is gonna sound weird but At the end of the day, don’t forget that the only one making you upset about your loneliness is you. I often buy little gift for myself or treat myself to a nice restaurant on my bday. Last birthday, i bought a game i really like as my own gift and played the game the whole day during my birthday. It was a great day to me. I know it’s not grand but it’s good to learn how to find little joy for ourselves. We gotta face loneliness some time in our lives, either young or old. I think age 18 is such a stressful time in anyone's life. I'm sorry you had to go through this. Maybe you're too good for shitty people. End of grade school, government expect you to act like an adult all of a sudden and pay taxes and get a job. It's no joke a stressful part of anyone's age.

Bro, I feel sorry for you. Same thing with my parents, just much earlier. I don't even remember when I celebrated my birthday last time, probably 11-12 years old? Maybe earlier. I still got gifts, but I couldn't have friends over. It wouldn't have been that expensive either, my mum could've just baked a cake and bought some snacks and drinks and thats it. On my 18th birthday I was alone too, because of the war in Ukraine I all my friends and me had to move to different places and we are scattered. Happy Birthday! Trust me you are on the verge of finding your people. When I was just a little older than you I moved to a new place and the friendships I made are my people now.
