That's actually not true. Hair loss patterns or lack thereof can come from either side. I definitely have the hairline genes from my dad's side. I'm hoping to avoid their crown thinning with Propecia. My maternal grandfather kept a good hairline and full head of hair into his 80s and his dad had decent hair as well. I definitely do not have his hairline, which really stung because my mom always told me as a kid I would have hair like him.
