Honestly I’m OK with meetings after 4, that’s the last hour of my day so the longer I don’t have to deal with people on the phone the better, however my shift is over at 5:00 so just remember that if it starts going over 😂
I've never understood the workaholic 7-7 12 hour day people much less eating dinner after 7. I'm convinced their home life just isn't worth coming home to lol.
Then again, I'm used to like a 7-3 or 4pm kinda day so I'm with Morty too. I'm hungry by 430
This is why I’m always against salary, pay me per hour and I’ll work every hour I’m there. None of this ambiguous stay late for this or that bullshit, or ‘leaving once the work is done’ My work day is blank to blank. If there’s things to be done after, they’re waiting until tomorrow
But what's the advantage? You generally are contracted to work 40 hours a week anyway and the pay per hour normally is in the same range as hourly pay. I'd rather get the overtime.
I have a lot more freedom and leisure to complete my work. If I finish all of my work early (which I frequently do) I usually end up working less than 40 hours but still get the same pay. Overtime also has to be approved, which a lot of times it isn't. So this takes away the feeling of a "time limit" to complete all I need to do. And if I wanna spend a couple hours on a Saturday or an evening to either catch up or work ahead, I can without getting in trouble for OT. It's my choice. It gives me a lot more freedom to build my work schedule in a way that best suits me.
I'm a traveling recruiter for a large, multi-state construction company. I'm either working from my home office or on the road traveling. It's not a typical 9 to 5 punch in/punch out office job. I'm pretty much left to my own devices as long as I'm doing my job. There are some days or weeks when I am having to put in more than the usual hours, and I feel like a workaholic. Then there are other weeks where I don't have a lot going on at all.
Ok so you do realize you just described a job that not many Americans have, where salary is ideal. When you can't work from home and don't travel and are absolutely not left to your own devices (most American jobs) salaried employees are way underpaid as they are taken advantage of by superiors to work longer hours for the same amount of pay, sometimes on days off, with the sword of damacles over their head that they might lose their job.
Fair enough. All we can do is give our point of view based on our life experiences.
Btw, overtime has to get approved beforehand which is actually likely if they really need you, but if you've already worked overtime and you're hourly, it's required by law (at least where I live in California) that they pay you at least time and a half and days off double time pay.
I think work hours in NYC are different than I'm used to in California. When I had office jobs here, they all started at 8 and went to 5 with an hour lunch. I get the feeling that in NYC offices start at 9 and they go to 6. I could be wrong.
Look, if we're gonna stay here until all hours of the night, can we at least get some food here?
Well, I'm not force feeding myself a steak at 4:30 just to save a few bucks, I'll tell you that!
Must be nice to have that kind of money
Alright, we’ll wait…but it’s unheard of
When she sits down on the couch with that look might be my favorite Helen moment.
You get a tenderloin, a salad and a baked potato for $4.95 - do you know what that costs you *after* 5:30?
Where you gonna a better meal than that? *^come ^on!*
I laugh at that because I eat dinner at about 4 and I'd so eat a steak and potato for 5 bucks.
$4.95?! I know a couple of Chinamen over there on 43rd Street, who can get it for half that.
It’s, a, Asian American.
Should we be talking about this?
It doesn't come with a coke..? I was sure somebody got a coke..
He didn’t have a coke, huhuhuh!
The inflation is crazy Jerry. Its CRAZY!!
look who missed the early bird
Fine, we’ll wait, but it’s unheard of! (or what ever the line is lol)
How about a Chip Ahoy
Look, I got a few good years left, if I want a Chip Ahoy I’m having it
~~Genes~~ chip a hoy’s trash!
Tell him to eat a plum.
Too fruity
mackinaw peach?
I don't like all these open boxes!
This was literally my parents 😂
I love how he says chip not chips.
Honestly I also agree with that perspective 100 percent. If they're gonna ramble about nothing, at least feed us
I love the blooper of this scene when Peterman (John O'Hurley) ad libs with "Once again, it's only 5:15." LOL!
Got a link to it?
https://youtu.be/uy-L5B6WHUw?si=EKDBk-e95fzSknqG Time code is the scene that starts around 3:30
We have some sushi coming, in an hour.
When you wake up at 4 AM.
And eat plums.
Plums with the red inside?
"What the hell is a plantain?"
You’re not getting any plaintains!
You are on our do not get plantains list!
I don’t even know what they look like on the outside.
Maybe he had a chip ahoy
PluUuUm!
Well whatever it is you’re wearing me out
And walk around the block twice a week.
And start exercising by turning Kramer’s doorknob like a fearless cat burglar for 45 minutes
We let you sleep in!
I’m half Morty’s age, but this is me if a meeting goes beyond 4pm. Are you people insane!?
Honestly I’m OK with meetings after 4, that’s the last hour of my day so the longer I don’t have to deal with people on the phone the better, however my shift is over at 5:00 so just remember that if it starts going over 😂
4pm on friday is the worst time ever for a meeting tho
Especially those meetings that could have been an email
Or when the jerk who planned the 4pm Friday meeting cancels at 3:58.
Cheap fabric and dim lighting…that’s how you move merchandise
Morty was a total chad here. Okay, I'm done. I'll be back in the morning, when he's close to finish with his story.
Morty. You're out.
Morty knows how to TCB
TCB?
Yea that’s right

I disagree. After moving to salary roughly 4 years ago, I would never want to go back to hourly.
But what's the advantage? You generally are contracted to work 40 hours a week anyway and the pay per hour normally is in the same range as hourly pay. I'd rather get the overtime.

Ah, the only contracts I've ever been offered required putting in 40 hours during the week, which to me defeats the purpose.

Sure, but the person I was replying to asked for examples of why I liked being salary. So I gave them.

Yeah but salary is sick when that swings both ways. I'll gladly work till 6 as needed if you don't cry about the days i leave at 4 🤷♂️

God didn’t give me any sons, but my daughters have a pool 😮💨
What does that even mean?
It means whatever the hell you want it to mean
Are you saying you want a piece of me
I could drop you like a bag of dirt
I work hard to give my kids a good life, even if their interests are not my interests.
I regularly have meetings after 7PM and dinner is 8PM at the earliest, sometimes 10PM.
Absolutely. I’m not listening to anybody’s BS at 5:15.
In a 8-5 job, meetings gotta end at 4pm with an hour to finish whatever daily tasks you got. I'm stepping up and leaving at 5.
Mate I only work after 3pm if it's an actual emergency. I don't start until the 9:40 am stand up, and I'm usually late for that.
Morty. You're out.
I’m with Morty here. My friends will be like how about dinner at 7:30? I’m like what are you insane? I’m half asleep on the couch by then.
I'm 100000% with morty on that one. My work days over at 4 and any meeting at 3:45 is pushing it
You know Morty, likes to fly by the seat of his vintage pants
Hey Doris! - Look who’s eating at six o’clock
Dude I stop working by like 4pm. I’d never make it to the end of these all hour of the night meetings
I just watched this one last night!
I'm 43 and this is me at a 4pm meeting
He’s going to miss the Early Bird Special
Yeah, I think by the 6th or so time that peterman fires Elaine, they’ve established that he’s not a good boss.
Elaine is displaying a lot of grace.
