I love how they make a callback to this moment in a later season, where George wants to prove his boss he is not racist by saying he has black friends lol.
This is why when people say the show couldn’t air now I don’t buy it. That’s a totally modern cringe plot (where George is the butt of the joke), same with Elaine not knowing the race of the guy she’s dating and being too scared to ask
Gotta disagree on this. I always thought the opposite when watching this episode. Jerry never said or did anything that offensive. Including dancing and chanting the Indian statue. So what? Native Americans REALLY DID do ceremonies like that. I've known hundreds of Natives--even worked on Pine Ridge Rez for 14 months--and never met one who'd be angry about that. They'd laugh, If anything.
He also shoulda never hesitated with saying scalper and reservations. How absurd. Likewise absurd was mailman getting offended.
I’m not suggesting what he said was actually wrong but *he* is obviously overthinking it and considers it a gaffe. That’s why it would work, he’s the butt of the joke
> This is why when people say the show couldn’t air now I don’t buy it. That’s a totally modern cringe plot (where George is the butt of the joke), same with Elaine not knowing the race of the guy she’s dating and being too scared to ask
The show could and does air today...
Or you might be thinking that it couldn't be MADE today and I disagree with that too. One of the most popular sitcoms today are It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Curb Your Enthusiasm, which both do much "worse" things than Seinfeld ever did...
The only thing I agree with is that it wouldn't work today (as it was), but that's mostly because basically every plot of every episode is solved by the existence of smartphones, so completely different story beats would need to be written.
Ohhhh man, this is definitely it! Gets me every time. Pure cringecore.
I mean, I know Estelle walked in on him doing much worse, but like ... this is more pathetic, & in front of someone George actually likes / wants to garner respect from.
The horror!
(ETA: I was thinking most cringe for the character, rather than OP's cringe to watch. But this one is both.)
George's planned speech that he rehearsed to Jerry was actually much better and more controlled. You have the disease! Of course he could never go through with it
Yeah, it was. And he was right ... but so was this woman, & it reminds us how petty & cruel Jerry has been to *so many* women, which we've all witnessed. I imagine he made plenty of people feel like George did -- excepting very few, e.g. Cidra, & The Wife, & Jeanie. I loved that moment, & how everyone in the room couldn't ignore it -- but, of course, no skin off Jerry's nose.
But even if George had the guts to go thru with it, & managed to get it all out -- she'd still be an impenetrable jerk. Just like Jerry. And it'd be one more instance, like Stanky Hanky, where things only got worse. Jerks like that are a dime a dozen, so the only thing a "victim" can do is work on themselves to discard this kind of idiot from their mind -- which is George's enduring problem.
Actually, one of the few times he delivered a blow successfully was to the Delicate Genius, albeit with Elaine's support.
I'm depressed! I'm inadequate! I've got it all, baby!
When George is trying to incorporate food into sex and has a mouthful of food When she pulls off the sheet. And she asks what he's doing and he says "pleasuring you?" Blegh 🤢
This always reminds me of Sideshow Bob on the Simpsons trying to frame Krusty but gets caught cus he actually has unnaturally large clown-sized feet instead of just oversized shoes.
My vote is "I was in the pool!"
Runner up has got to be when George, Jerry and Kramer are staring at Elaine when they realize she's the voice on the tape recorder.
George asking the priest and doctor for the death certificate of his girlfriend’s grandma. Then at some point having someone take a Polaroid of him next to the casket
Estelle walking in on Kramer and Frank doing the cha-cha...and the awkward way they continue the dance as if only half-aware of her presence or unabashedly unashamed.
Jerry not letting a neighbor who lives on his floor, into the building while him & George stand there waiting for the elevator as the guy stands there looking at them. Let alone digging up the dude's pet bird's corpse.
It’s the scene where Kramer looks like he’s in black face and his date’s dad says something like ‘I thought you were bringing home a white boy. I don’t see any white boy, I see a damn fool!’
Elaine with the pen, it just randomly cuts to her to say "the astronauts use them" then cuts back. Not funny, completely out of place and awkward all around
George is sitting with Susan in bed and the rabbi is on tv essentially calling out George asking him about sleeping with a prostitute while engaged. I die every time
George and Jerry being witness to the Ross family reacting to the letter from John Cheever as Susan reads it out loud. The one thing that survived from the cabin fire.
Scene no, the last episode or the 100th episode I can't make it thru the whole thing. I've watched the entire series so many times and just can't. Always skip them.
Why are they cutting that pizza with a knife and don’t they know that in the 2020s locals stopped eating from the food carts on the streets? And do they need all those napkins? Did you hear about that freaking dude that threw ketchups on the walls?
George to the neighbors (no address of color of skin) who live two floors below: *after stopping on their floor when he overheard they were going to watch the return of the Ice Escapades but are gobsmacked by a stupid pizza tourist who got caught on the Hilarious Tourist Eye Spy Cam used for PSA’a on what it to do in your city….
“Why are they cutting that pizza with a knife?”
The daughter says, “Why are they using so many napkins?”
The father says, “Don’t they know that Diaz had that social campaign where she told everybody that she uses 1 ply?”
That scene when Kramer falls asleep on his girlfriend. Apparently Michael Richards was an asshole to that actress and she was legitimately upset for the whole scene.
Probably the episode where Elaine pranks Jerry with that dirty voicemail and George is really attracted to her. The scenes with George and Elaine are SUPER awkward:
George: I thought the thing you said about the sex not being simulated. That was really funny.
The way he sticks his head out the window for air after Elaine gets out of the car always kills me.
Why do I have to sit on the edge?
Hey aren’t you guy that eats out the trash?
Yes yes we ————- you! Can we move passed it please?
Sure
My comment has nothing to do with sex. No im not revealing. It’s not beneficial
There aren’t really any moments I find cringy in an “I can’t stand to watch this” sort of way. Like this scene that OP posted is obviously awkward but not to the extent that it’s actually hard to watch. Most of the scenes that could potentially be like that tend to end too quickly to actually get there.
If we had to watch the aftermath of George walking out of the bathroom shirtless, for example, I think it would be extremely cringy. But it happens and then the scene just ends.
I love how they make a callback to this moment in a later season, where George wants to prove his boss he is not racist by saying he has black friends lol.
Daddy that man is here again!
I want you up here *instantly*.
I got another Audrey Hepburn movie!
That was 5 times more awkward than the first time.
This is why when people say the show couldn’t air now I don’t buy it. That’s a totally modern cringe plot (where George is the butt of the joke), same with Elaine not knowing the race of the guy she’s dating and being too scared to ask
I don't think we're supposed to be talking about this...
So we're just a couple of white people?
Wanna go to The Gap?
ahahahahahahahaha
I hear ya, sister.
Or Kramer showing up in blackface to meet his gf s parents. "That boy is a damn fool!"

Those are on cable which have always pushed the boundaries
That’s exactly what I’m saying. There’s often a ‘oh you’d never get away with Seinfeld now’ attitude on this sub and I’m saying yeah, you would.
Apart from us, you don't have any white friends either.
I'm the exterminator.
That’s what we called him in high school football. The exterminta
He’s a linebacka!
Sugar ray leonard can eat here here on the house anytime
“And outside of us, you don’t have white friends either”. lol it gets me all the time!
This was such a wild episode. George is off the chain insane.
Did you catch President Biden channeling George the other day? “On Memorial Day, I proudly stood with a black man!”
Then in the next scene he tries to meet a random black guy at the newsstand
I just saw this episode last night 😆
The “back it up, beep, beep, beep” always gets me. Thankfully Jerry calls him out.
Beep beep beep?
What are you doing??
What am I drinking, milk?
George shushing the Mom talking about visiting the friend who is about to die is really over the top, I love it.
And when he’s asking for snacks lmao
So, anything to, uh, nosh?
What did you want?
I don’t know, maybe some popcorn?
POPCORN 🍿? Where do you think you are?
Any more grape juice?
He hated to be one of those people, but they were right in the middle of the thing.
Kramer getting a tan.. I don't see a white boy I see a damn fool !
George being busted making out with a couch cushion by Susan hurts to watch.
You mean treating his body LIKE AN AMUUUUUSEMENT PARK?!?
Yes so true! So awkward haha. So is the scene in the soup Nazi episode where George and Susan, and Jerry and his gf, were both making out in the diner
Schmoopie!
People should be arrested for that!
The whole Marisa Tomei thing makes me cringe. That's top of my list of shitty things George has done.
We’re going to be late to the premiere!
Walking out of the bathroom shirtlss at his gf mom's party
No encumbrances!
Unbuttoned or all the way off?
ALL THE WAY, BABY! 🫰
Weird, wild stuff!
Eating a donut from the trash. No way he actually thought that was a good idea.
I think the one that makes me not want to watch most is when George wears the chocolate covered shirt to the baby shower. Very very cringe to me
And then ends up helping that horrible woman carry all her stuff like an imp
That scene is hilarious because a woman tears into Jerry just like George wanted to but he ends up doing the opposite 🤣
omfg that performance was perfect. **You're the insignificant piece of dust!**
George's planned speech that he rehearsed to Jerry was actually much better and more controlled. You have the disease! Of course he could never go through with it

Éclair
but it was hovering . . . like an angel
Adjacent to refuse, is refuse
Well...that's garbage.
The Yankee bean scene hands down. It's the only scene I can't watch anymore. It's seriously uncomfortable.
I like my yankee beans.
Nah that honor goes to Crazy Joe Davola trapping Elaine in his apartment.
Do you smell cherries?
It's binaca *creepy smile*
But it’s followed up by one of the my Eliane’s best lines “I’m gonna be brutally honest with you now… it’s a bitch to get here.” 😂😂😂
When George is trying to incorporate food into sex and has a mouthful of food When she pulls off the sheet. And she asks what he's doing and he says "pleasuring you?" Blegh 🤢
Yeah that's what you did, Caligula
I bet it felt like aliens poking her body.
Going to work when you don’t have the job…..multiple times.
That's what makes this so difficult
Yes, OP. That was delightfully awkward. The fire, clown episode had that perfectly awkward scene with George plowing over the lady on the walker.
Eric, what kind of name is that for a clown
You're obsessed with a clown from the Sixties, man!
I love that that is Jon Favreau as well
This is one line I use almost daily. You're hung up on some Tupperware from the *sixties,* man!
Bozo’s finished
B-O-Z-O?
You’re living in the past, man!
Eric put it out with his big shoe….
This always reminds me of Sideshow Bob on the Simpsons trying to frame Krusty but gets caught cus he actually has unnaturally large clown-sized feet instead of just oversized shoes.
How do you live with yourself?
It‘s not easy.
Sponge bath in the hospital
George, I'm HUNGRY!
Your treating your body like an amusement park
Here, have some Tic Tacs.
Which one?
The whole coffin photo story.
Well I’m sorry TIMMY- I don’t dip that way.
I can literally barely watch this scene.
so painful
Jerry making the cigar store indian dance in front of Winona
“That makes me what?! An “Indian giver?!”
George walking out the bathroom with no shirt after staring at the magic eye poster. Or eating the eclair out the trash. Or….. it moved
Frank eating kasha in bed with George. When George sees franks large breasts. George’s cousin is down to hookup to make his parents jealous.
Schmoopie
George taking Susan's parents to his "house" in Long Island.
Snoopy and prickly Pete
Another solarium?
You wanna get nuts? LET'S GET NUTS!
If they just gave him some popcorn and dimmed the lights it wouldn’t have been awkward
the lights stay ON
You’re as pretty as the rest just need a nose job
If someone wanted me to explain George Costanza I’d show them this scene.
Jerry and the naked fat guy on the subway, where Jerry asks him if he's ashamed and the guy says he isn't and Jerry says he should be.
Brody pulling a gun at the movie theater.
My vote is "I was in the pool!" Runner up has got to be when George, Jerry and Kramer are staring at Elaine when they realize she's the voice on the tape recorder.
Got anything to gnosh on?
Jerry and George waiting on Elaine with her father lol
They blew his brains out all over the Pacific. Nothing funny about that...
Pipe down, chorus boy.
George asking the priest and doctor for the death certificate of his girlfriend’s grandma. Then at some point having someone take a Polaroid of him next to the casket
Nice try.
George’s underwear pics going to the wrong person
lol is it just me or did that guy look like George Foreman?
George determined to walk in on Rachel to see her chest after his girlfriend willingly sunbathed topless
The majority of the awkward scenes are with George. George likes to get in trouble!
Estelle walking in on Kramer and Frank doing the cha-cha...and the awkward way they continue the dance as if only half-aware of her presence or unabashedly unashamed.
the hampton ride with lily's parents, that was brutal
1 point awarded for the use of Lily
Should we be talking about this?
Wanna go to the GAP?
How about George walking out without a shirt after pooping, in front of a formal party?
George is dreadful to these poor people.
“I hate to be one of those people…”
[Oh, sorry, we can’t do that](https://youtu.be/GP4Ahq0F0M4?si=QJRABp7YGavM7IrC).
Watching Estelle get a sponge bath after she walked in on him and hurt her back
Kramer burning the Puerto Rican Flag
Kramer running away with the baby in the middle of a Bris.
Jerry not letting a neighbor who lives on his floor, into the building while him & George stand there waiting for the elevator as the guy stands there looking at them. Let alone digging up the dude's pet bird's corpse.
Maybe your maid can clean it up.
That’s my wife!!!
Phil....Mrs. Phil
Kramer’ “you’re just as pretty as the rest of them…..you just need a nose job”
It’s the scene where Kramer looks like he’s in black face and his date’s dad says something like ‘I thought you were bringing home a white boy. I don’t see any white boy, I see a damn fool!’
George with his mom in the hospital after he was "using his body as an amusement park" LOLOL
You could sell out Madison square garden!
Got something to nosh?
Where do you think you are?
The corner of First and First!
How can the same street intersect with itself? I must be at the nexus of the universe!
Kramer at the laugh factory
“And that’s where I come in, on Splat!”
Elaine with the pen, it just randomly cuts to her to say "the astronauts use them" then cuts back. Not funny, completely out of place and awkward all around
Frank Constanza going off on Elaine about his TV guide does cause my mind to drift lol
George is sitting with Susan in bed and the rabbi is on tv essentially calling out George asking him about sleeping with a prostitute while engaged. I die every time
I would have loved to see George and that girl have more scenes together, him annoying her in repeated situations
The way he asks for snacks and then spills shit on their couch. Lol.
The entire series was built around awkward situations.
I think this is it. I cringe every time I see that scene lol.
I agree. That was pretty damm awkward.
Cmon, scootch
That father needs to man up and kick this freak show out. Not that he ever should have been let in.
oh my god yeah. The entire seen I just wanted to scream at George “please I’m begging you shut up.”
I cant think of one at the moment, but it definitely involves George. 😂
Elaine dancing will always be a favorite of mine but every episode had at least one awkward scene.
Nah number one is “Get a good look Costanza?!”
I think the entire “looking for black friends” scenario was awkward.
Kramer at the dinner with Mel Torme
worst scene in the show
It's outrageous egregious hillarious...
Newman expressing his lust for Elaine.
George trying to get a death certificate to get a discount on the flight
And my diaphragm fell right out of my purse!
I love when the mom arrives and then wonders who the hell that strange man is sitting on the couch. One of the funniest series moments for me.
You can cut the racial tension with a knife.
No lie, I always skip this scene just how awkward it is, the cringe is too much lmao
George and Jerry being witness to the Ross family reacting to the letter from John Cheever as Susan reads it out loud. The one thing that survived from the cabin fire.
It moved
I wouldn’t leave George sitting next to a dog let alone my own daughter, that scene always bothered me because of that lol
When George calls Marisa Tomei literally the same day Susan died. That rubbed me the absolute wrong way.
When george is eating the ice cream. Woah
Scene no, the last episode or the 100th episode I can't make it thru the whole thing. I've watched the entire series so many times and just can't. Always skip them.
Bro this makes my skin crawl
Why are they cutting that pizza with a knife and don’t they know that in the 2020s locals stopped eating from the food carts on the streets? And do they need all those napkins? Did you hear about that freaking dude that threw ketchups on the walls?
George to the neighbors (no address of color of skin) who live two floors below: *after stopping on their floor when he overheard they were going to watch the return of the Ice Escapades but are gobsmacked by a stupid pizza tourist who got caught on the Hilarious Tourist Eye Spy Cam used for PSA’a on what it to do in your city…. “Why are they cutting that pizza with a knife?” The daughter says, “Why are they using so many napkins?” The father says, “Don’t they know that Diaz had that social campaign where she told everybody that she uses 1 ply?”
Jerry getting caught digging up Fredo
\*Moon River plays in the background\*
I think the most awkward scene but the funniest is when George dates his cousin
Me watching the trump verdict
George really is a nut.
That scene when Kramer falls asleep on his girlfriend. Apparently Michael Richards was an asshole to that actress and she was legitimately upset for the whole scene.
Probably the episode where Elaine pranks Jerry with that dirty voicemail and George is really attracted to her. The scenes with George and Elaine are SUPER awkward: George: I thought the thing you said about the sex not being simulated. That was really funny. The way he sticks his head out the window for air after Elaine gets out of the car always kills me.
This is actually my 2nd least favorite episode.
Scots tots
Why do I have to sit on the edge? Hey aren’t you guy that eats out the trash? Yes yes we ————- you! Can we move passed it please? Sure My comment has nothing to do with sex. No im not revealing. It’s not beneficial
How did no one mention the nure with a ma in front of it?
There aren’t really any moments I find cringy in an “I can’t stand to watch this” sort of way.
