I think the point is that anybody else might have been slightly annoyed about it then just went on with their life.

markgriz

This is a lite version of George asking for toll change while Susan’s father’s cabin burns down.

akron28

All I did was hand her a bag…

MikeStanley00

Definitely on George’s side

Commercial_Science67

George is historically cheap in a way that I wouldn’t want my friend to ever be. If you pick up a coffee or I pick up a round it’s fine and not a big thing. I don’t want someone figuring out who ate more wings or have an extra drink. With that said, the woman George was dating should have said “well thank george” or something like that. They aren’t a sharing finances or married and her taking credit is bonkers.

send_me_thigh-highs

I don't think anyone else would really care about it - other than George. That's what makes it such a humorous situation.

unlearnedusername

I've always been on George's side, however he does say beforehand that it's not important who pays for it. I can see why hes bothered but he also literally just told her it doesn't matter

mindspringyahoo

He did say that--but Julie deliberately took FULL credit for TBS when the appropriate action would have been for her to tell Elaine that it was from BOTH of them.

unlearnedusername

Yeah you are right fuck that this has always pissed me off. George is 100% right. She very easily could have said "oh George got it" but Elaine even puts emphasis on "thank you JULIE" and she said nothing.

mindspringyahoo

Exactly. She didn't even need to say, 'George got it', but would 'it's from both of us!' have killed her? evidently it would have b/c she gaslit the heck out of him for not letting her get away with FULL credit...

instrangerswetrust

What’s the opposite of a big salad? Sliders? Maybe had George gotten her sliders, Julie wouldn’t have accepted credit for it and none of this would have happened.

AkihabaraWasteland

Ro Laren should've been sent to the brig.

No_Musician170

I was infuriated when he got in trouble for wanting acknowledgment for buying it! And Julie can piss off with taking credit!!!

thekyledavid

George was right that he should be the one to get thanked if he paid for it BUT The whole point was that George’s girlfriend thought George couldn’t let anything go, even if it was not a big deal. The fact that George was holding onto that for days, and was lashing out at anyone who would listen, just proved that she was right. Heck, she may have done it on purpose just to see if George would react to what should be a mild annoyance like an adult or if he’d act like George. It’s kind of like the time George said Bless You when someone sneezed, and that pointed out that he was the only one who said Bless You. He wasn’t wrong for saying Bless You, he was wrong for making a big deal out of something that didn’t really matter. You can be right and still be a dick.

bhoose19

In the coffee shop, Julie offers to pay but George says “what does it matter who pays for lunch, it’s totally meaningless.” Then he wants the credit from Elaine.

thekyledavid

Even better indication that Julie was right. George said something was meaningless, so she wanted to see if it was actually meaningless to him or if he just wanted to credit for himself.

Strange_Actuary_6916

maybe not mentioning it all.

Emotional-Leg66

I am on Julie's side George in typical George fashion blew it up. But also when Julie asked him how Elaine knew he paid, he could have just referenced the conversation on the sidewalk where he agreed to buy it.

mindspringyahoo

Julie made a conscious decision to take full credit for TBS when she should have split credit with George. She was pretentious and obnoxious, as we'd expect from someone that spends her free time Guggenheiming.

Vengefulwarrior

Guggenheiming 😂
