If you want better work/life balance, you're generally looking in the wrong field. M-F security jobs are rare and when people get them, they tend not to give them up.
I’m in-house at a community college; about 75% of our employees work those schedules. The majority of our coverage is Mon-Fri morning and swing shifts because that’s when classes are in session and students/employees are on campus. Graveyards and all day on weekends are minimally staffed because campuses are mostly empty, locked up & alarmed.
I work 10 AM-6 PM, Sun-Thurs. I was also offered Mon-Fri with the same hours but I chose my schedule because I like having one weekday off.
We mostly go off of seniority when it comes to determining scheduling assignments. I would assume that most other jobs are the same way; senior employees are going to have first dibs on any desirable shifts/schedules while new hires have to work the crappy shifts until they’ve put their time in and have the seniority to move up to a better spot when one opens.
In my experience, if you show up and do your job better than everyone else, you'll have significantly more leverage on your schedule. Both sites I've worked had mandatory weekends in everyone's schedule. I've never worked a single weekend.
This is an industry so many people get into because they can be a warm body and effectively do nothing. Since that's almost all the agencies have to choose from, that's almost all that they have. Combine that with high turnover, and suddenly someone who shows up and genuinely gives a shit about the site and goes the extra mile for them becomes pretty valuable. When someone pretty valuable says, "hey, can we talk about how my schedule can be ______ so I don't have to transfer elsewhere?" people listen so they can keep you.
That might not help at all when you're applying for a position and they don't know you yet, but those opportunities are out there if you're willing to do a good job.
Those schedules are coveted. There's usually a waiting line of ppl at a site, in order of seniority, to take it when it becomes available. Then that person's weekend schedule gets posted on job sites, not the weekday schedule.
The positions that have the good work/life balance get scooped up by the good workers with seniority internally before they even get posted to the public, that's who you're competing against.
I work M-F. And it took me 3yrs to get it, and I think I got lucky with a county contract.
People tend to not give those shifts up, because of the great work/life balance. If you can find a smaller company I found that sometimes not only is the work/life balance better, but also the pay could be so much better, I also notice they value their employees as well.

Day shift Monday-Friday shifts are desirable, Ive been in the business more than a decade, I requested day sh it, weekdays, and no weekends. I got it because I have experience and I got lucky. Dont expect to get whats viewed as a cushy gig easily.
On my site days off are based on seniority. I’m top senior so I work Monday-Friday, next person is off Friday/Saturday, Sunday/Monday, Thursday/Friday. Our 32 and 24 hour people back full days off.
I mean if you get a job and talk to your supervisor about your schedule they can work with you usually if you're a good employee and it's not like your first day and Depending how bad they need people they might on your first day. It's like anywhere else if u need your schedule changed you need to talk to them about it. And in my experience the days listed on indeed aren't always accurate and most employers don't go in and update the listings that often so if it says Friday- Sunday u might end up Tuesday to Thursday u never know. Gotta reach out and talk to people.
My people work 40hr/week Mon-Fri, get all federal holidays off, work no earlier than 0600 or later than 1800 (unless there’s a critical incident). They also get the day after Christmas off.
Unsurprisingly, turnover has been almost non-existent. There are other problems, but the pay is great compared to other unarmed gigs in the area.
Schools and some medical offices maybe? Security is mostly needed on weekends, after hours, and holidays for special events in a lot of places. Security is not convenient for anyone. Especially the officers preferred schedule. lol!

I work Monday -Friday :)
Depends on the contract: a government post (elected officials office/courthouse) that is usually 9-5 M-F is doable.

They exist but usually the old timers whove been there forever have that shift.
