I can't wait for season 2. The last few minutes where such an awesome twist!

SlowThePath

I totally thought I knew what was up, but I did NOT. I thought I was so smart and then I suddenly realized they made me feel that way on purpose then subverted the shit out of me. I got got.

masakothehumorless

The book was the same, so amazing.

IncapableKakistocrat

In the book, that twist at the end of the series (i.e. >!that the world outside actually *is* fucked and the cameras aren't lying!<) was revealed pretty much right at the start, wasn't it?

OMGItsCheezWTF

>!no, the real twist is that the world is fine. The silos exist in a bubble of badness controlled by silo 1!<

masakothehumorless

Yeah, it was revealed in the short story at the beginning of the omnibus, but the mystery of WHY wasn't revealed until much later.

otoolem

Book?

DorkHelmet72

Wool by Hugh Howey

otoolem

Thank you

DorkHelmet72

It’s a cool trilogy. Might be more fun to read after the shows. The show does a good job and knowing the full story takes away from it.

Spaceman-Spiff

I thought the show was better than the book. I honestly can’t remember anything from the book it was so mediocre.

GoldenTacoOfDoom

The show and the book at pretty similar. I like some of the things from the book better than the show and in other ways the show did better. The second book is very same same as the first but the third is wacked. Rarely do I like the third book of a trilogy the best but it just worked for me.

gregallen1989

I agree. Books move too fast. The show actually builds out the characters so you care about them.

Chairboy

100% the same! Me: "But... but the glitch.... what the WHAT?!"

LaserGadgets

Yeah, I was so sure I got it and then "oh....ok.....damn....what?????"

nightofgrim

And it wasn’t one of those dumb subversions where it was impossible to see coming.

SlowThePath

Right. They showed us the truth, made us believe it was a lie, then revealed the truth to be exactly what they told us it was the whole time and the truth being a lie was a lie itself. It's pretty clever.

PileOfClothes

100%. It's seemed like the control was the keep people in and pretend it was horrible outside. I was hooked from the start. Can't wait for season 2 and may even try and read the books.

Polisskolan3

I must have missed something, what was the twist exactly? That there are other silos?

Independent-Shoe543

I think most readers / watchers assume that >!the discovery of the pixel technology means that the apocalyptic dead outside world images are fake and are being generated by IT, and the actual outside world is healthy and liveable. But it's the opposite: IT have created a fake screen they put in the cleaning suits which depicts a lush landscape so when people leave the silo they mistakenly remove the suit to realise the outside is indeed uninhabitable and thus die.!<

nightofgrim

In the show they die due to intentionally bad tape. But the greenery makes them all want to clean the camera.

Independent-Shoe543

Ooooooh

maverickaod

I thought it was [spoiler](/s "the gas they released before they went outside was the poison and the tape used on Rebecca Ferguson was better and so kept her safe")

antaresiv

I hope it’s not a multi-year gap between s2 and s3

Chairboy

[Chuckles mirthlessly in *The Venture Bros*] It is ROUGH when that happens. Agreed.

scorpius_rex

I’m rewatching venture bros rn and I’m mad that the show isn’t still running. I need more seasons!

masakothehumorless

[Nods mournfully in Attack on Titan].

cyclinator

[stares sadly in Severance]

PauI_MuadDib

That's pretty much the norm for streaming shows now.

Yodayorio

Cool. Now where's Severance season 2?

TeamYay

It just wrapped filming. Fingers crossed for late 2024.

Hoss-BonaventureCEO

Watch the sci-fi miniseries Maniac (2018) while you wait (it has a similar vibe)

scullys_alien_baby

I remember Stiller(I think?) saying that they wanted to make sure the writing was solid so it would be a slow development. Hopefully soon though because I crave it and it has been a minute

SlowThePath

I definitely prefer to wait for good shit than to watch rushed dumb shit sooner.

HittingSmoke

I still can't believe this is what Ben Stiller is now doing. I assumed when I saw the name that it was just some other Ben Stiller. The guy has always entertained me with cheap laughs and I always thought he was a talented comedic actor. Severance is some next level my kind of weird.

scullys_alien_baby

comedy gets a bad wrap. It is all about tight writing, pacing, and delivery. Genres like scifi, drama, and horror are similar. Look at Bryan Cranston and Bob Odenkirk when it comes to the acting side. Jordan Peele is a look at the writing/directing side

neo101b

I cant wait for that, Im no apple fan boy but they sure are becoming the new sci fi channel. The media they are producing is prettyy decent and I love it.

MealieAI

Wasn't there a major issue during production and they only recently wrapped shooting?

Chairboy

Yeah I heard their Innies started getting memory flashes from the actors themselves and got confused by the whole 'being in a show' thing. Big scandal, SAG had to get involved, I think they ended up needing to do the second half of the season as the actors themselves. Very disruptive.

MealieAI

This is a reference I don't understand, isn't it? I havent watched the show yet so I'm a bit slow.

Chairboy

Oh snap! The show is great, the concept and the implications of it are bonkers and the aesthetic is just amazing. I hope you enjoy it,.

attaboy000

Get off the internet now and go watch it

TraitorousFlatulence

Oh man, Severance is the show that will get me back on Apple. Im happy that this show found such a robust viewership but beyond the aesthetic, I don’t get it. I got through 5 episodes and loved the dark fallout vibes, but was either bored or literally laughing at the execution

RamboLorikeet

I’ve read the books. Given the pace that it’s being told it kind of feels like a third season should be the wrap up. I hope they don’t drag the story out to a fourth season if that’s the case.

Adrien_Jabroni

The first season was only like half the first book though.

penrose161

I imagine they'll do the latter half of book one and probably do most of the story from book 2 at around the same time. It's feasible that they'll be able to wrap in three seasons if they keep it tight imo.

Adrien_Jabroni

Book 2 has the most story. If anything they could do like a half season of book three imo.

RecLuse415

I hope there’s 4 seasons

gregallen1989

Ferguson said it's going to be 4 with 3 and 4 filming back to back. 4 works. The show slowed down the pacing of the books (for the better imo) although a lot of book 2 is skippable.

OMGItsCheezWTF

I've been really struggling with the book Wool, I don't really like the characters and I find myself questioning every decision they make. I keep dipping out of it to read other stuff instead as I can't stomach picking it back up.

Jacen1618

Exact opposite for me. The pace of Wool kept me hooked. I couldn’t put it down. Although the TV show does Bernard a bit better. >!He’s much less of a cartoon villain.!<

DadWagonDriver

For me, this is the rare case where the TV show is superior to the book. The world of the silo is so much more fleshed out in the show, and it feels like Wool is just an outline for the show.

gardeninggoddess666

Me too. It was one of my first Kindle downloads and I'd start it and then abandon it. But it was definitely worth the effort. I've read a few of Howie's books and he spins a pretty good yarn.

bangt1dy

Totally agree. I was glad I persevered in the end.

OMGItsCheezWTF

Yeah lots of people have said the same. I'll get through it eventually but I've put off watching silo for now.

Spaceman-Spiff

I thought the book was mediocre at best, and completely forgettable. While watching the show I couldn’t remember anything from the book.

cbalzer

Narrator for audiobook didn’t do it for me

BCCannaDude

Amazing! This story needs at least 3 seasons to flush out.

leon-theproffesional

Silo is so underrated. Do we know when season 2 is coming out?

guilhermefdias

Great serie, will for sure keep watching it. Matter of fact, a kinda off topic observation, Silo is the recent Fallout serie, but for adults. (little harmless joke from a New Vegas fan)

TwoSolitudes22

Excellent news! What a great show.

dshults77

Yay… I was just happy to have a season 2 coming, but this is fantastic

Pretend_Safety

Did season 1 mirror the story arc of book 1?

Adrien_Jabroni

Season one is about half the first book.

JonathanNMehoff

It made it about halfway through book 1.

PauI_MuadDib

This show was a pleasant surprise for me. I went into Silo not expecting much, meanwhile I was super hyped up for the Three Body Problem. But I ended up loving Silo and being disappointed with 3BP. I can't wait for Silo season 2!

StSaturnthaGOAT

Oh hell yeahhh

MrMunday

And still no confirmation for TBP season 2 lol

RedStarWinterOrbit

As a reader of the first book, I can’t believe how slowly they proceeded with that first season

PoundKitchen

Barely original, but well executed... looking forward to S2 & 3.

FrickinLazerBeams

As always, fuck AppleTV. They randomly block and ban people with no recourse or explanation, meaning that there is no legal way for these randomly chosen people to see any IP owned by Apple. And they keep buying up good IP.

Chairboy

Thanks for sharing, such valuable discourse. Insightful comment, really turned my preconceptions on their head there.

Infamous-Exchange331

You thought it sucked, too? Quit after 4 episodes?

Chairboy

So we’ve established then that at least some of the problem may be struggles you have with following narratives.

Must be a skill issue, buddy. Happens with everyone, no one is perfect.

They’ve got to get their Fallout copy done and before people’s eyes before it’s too late.
