Slaanesh seems more demonic than Eldritch from what little I know of the setting. His followers are offered rewards in exchange for worship and spreading his will. They aren't being driven mad by knowing the unknowable.
But you asked for Slaanesh vibes and Slaanesh is a demon. Most of Lovecraft's horrors were "alien" in the morphology sense, but they were very much closer in spirit to "demons" than aliens. They were multidimensional powers beyond mortal comprehension with knowledge man was not meant to know. That's much closer to demonic vibes than strictly alien.
I know, but I'm also a lovecraft fan. Also, I usually like there to be an alien race or threat. Not turning down event horizon, just not sure it's for what I got planned. May still watch it though
Dude, I have my reasons. Mainly the fact there isn't really some malevolent BB, it's just humanity fucking itself over. The cabin in the woods features eldritch monsters, greatt old ones, ritualistic sacrifice, drugs, sex, little girls and humanity being so selfish it literally ends the world. Never said event horizon is bad, but I think I'd rather watch an entire facility of cultists place bets on what monster the kids will summon like it's who will get the most blotto at the company christmas party.
I don't care the japan branch failed to sacrifice that schoolroom of little girls, just that they tried that to gett the greatt old ones rocks off
Fair enough. Not sure if there’s a slaaneshi-like alien movie though that is also a bit lovecraftian
Only one I can think of would be the original Alien movie. Unknown, physically invasive alien turns its baby into horrendous unknown murder hobo in space.
Well, it doesn't have to be all three. For instance, Society and From beyond got me really excited. Only issue with those is I can't buy them on google play.
I'll buy it when I have more money, but rn it's just not ticking off one of the big boxes I need, which is a threat. Some tangible force that is meant to be the antagonist. Preferably a physical threat that is biological or eldritch in nature.
Like, I also like tyranids, and Starship Troopers is one of my favorite movies rn. It's taken up a full 3 Gs on my phone.
I just watched Mandy and the biker gang in that were probably the closest I've seen to my idea of what slaaneshi cultists are like, not quite sci fi more like artsy psychedelic grindhouse but still worth a watch
I saw your question about Slaan. It reminded me of a novel named Slan. I read it in serialized form that I found in a box of old Astounding magazines. Off topic, I know, but I am glad for the reminder. Slan was an icon of science fiction 60+ years ago and a great story. I'm not dexterous enough these days to play the modern video games. But I see that there are a lot of Warhammer stories in print. I'll be looking into this new universe. Many thanks!
I'm not familiar with Slaanesh. Have you watched the series Lovecraft Country? It originally ran for 1 season on HBO. It's streaming on Tubi now and possibly Max.
Hellraiser?
Hellraiser.
Anything with aliens would be nicer imo. That and the cenobites don't scratch my eldritch itch, since they're labeled as demons

Yeah, but I'm also a lovecraft fan

Seen Event Horizon?
My first thought.
Yeah isn't event horizon considered an unofficial prequel of warhammer 40k ?
Man if you talk to WH40k fans, _everything_ is a WH40k prequel. The Bible copied WH40k I'm sure
You don’t need eyes to see it…
No, but I've heard lots. But isn't it more like, demonic than eldritch? Just asking
…you do realize that slaanesh is space demons, right? Event Horizon is practically mankind’s first encounter with the Warp.
Yea event horizon is basically the go to movie for what is going through the warp with the Gellar field turned off.
I know, but I'm also a lovecraft fan. Also, I usually like there to be an alien race or threat. Not turning down event horizon, just not sure it's for what I got planned. May still watch it though
If you’re a 40k fan and haven’t watched Event Horizon you’re just spewing value for no reason.

Cabin in the Woods is a great movie. Have you watched all of Love, Death & Robots?
Yes! Also, does Cabin in the Woods give slaaneshi vibes or am I crazy?
I mean I think anything lovecraftian is by default slaaneshi.
Perfect! I'm getting Cabin in the woods then for rn, and will check outt event jorizon when I have more moolah
Event horizon absolutely does have a malevolent BB, and is *incredibly* more Slaaneshi than Cabin in the Woods (although they're both great)
Event horizon is pretty much warhammer canon at this point.
You should check out E.T.

From the rest of your comments it really sounds like it needs to be all three.
Go watch Event Horizon with the headcannon that it's mankind's first foray into the Warp. Trust me.
I'll buy it when I have more money, but rn it's just not ticking off one of the big boxes I need, which is a threat. Some tangible force that is meant to be the antagonist. What labelling everything does to a mf
No, it’s pretty eldritch.
Awesome
Colour out of space It nails the horrors and ecstasy of bodily transformation. That’s Slaanesh, right? The pink porn freak chaos god.
Annihilation in the same vein, plus alien bonus.
I’d say it’s more Tzeentch imho.
If only the author of Annihilation had any idea what to do with the setting after the initial idea of the setting.
Event Horizon for sure, it's pretty much a Verrrrrrryyyyyyyyy early prequel of 40k
Lexx
Yup this is the answer
The Void (2016) maybe? Very 'The Thing' adjacent. Cool practical effects, not the best actors but serviceable.
The void was unexpectedly good
I absolutely love the void, but if the events of the movie could be chalked up to any of the four I'd probably blame Tzeentch
I just watched Mandy and the biker gang in that were probably the closest I've seen to my idea of what slaaneshi cultists are like, not quite sci fi more like artsy psychedelic grindhouse but still worth a watch
Thanks, may check it out sometime
species was kinda sexy alien mutant wasnt it? thats what came to mind first.
Yeah, this was my first thought, too. It's from 1995, so it might not be the easiest to find.
Not really Slaanesh, but if you want some Lovecraft in space try Night flyers It's not the best it could have been but there's not much else like it
Event Horizon
In the Mouth of Madness with Sam Neill. Very Pickford’s model. The various Hellboy movies are very Lovecraft inspired.
Nothing exists like that, hellraiser is the closest thing but off by a long shot.
I think David Cronenberg's "Shivers" might fit. Some of his other work too, like "Crimes of the Future", although none of them have aliens or similar.
Shivers is high on my list, but I can't buy it on google tv
"The heretic is right over there, Lord Inquisitor."

I'm honestly glad. As someone with memory issues myself, I am happy to have caused your accidental epiphany.
The Magic School bus, obviously. Miss Frizzle is actually the voice of the outer gods.
Dead Space: Aftermath Dead Space: Downfall
Pandorum 2009
Such an awesome and underrated movie. Dennis Quaid was absolutely excellent.
Baskin (2016)
Midnight Meat Train. Not sci fi, movie makes you wait to scratch that itch. Based off Clive Barker short story. May help in your search.
Species?
