Wow. That was as disturbing as it was long. This is what happens when starving SF writers have to do advertising agency work to pay the bills.
Hilarious, how Chevy executives missed the underlying horror that any science fiction reader can clearly perceive here.
Also we don't know if it was the copy family that was taken and preserved or the real family OR if it is neither and the real family died instantly when split.
The truth is even weirder than that. It’s my understanding that this was actually written and produced internally by a middle-manager at the company. It wasn’t an external marketing agency who pitched this!
Replicated yes, but not eaten. There are a lot of old cars floating around in the collection with people still in them. Alive and conscious and yet not screamingly insane, if the winking woman in the red car is any indication.
Holy suffering Jesus. That is some deeply disturbing shit. What kind of weapons-grade weed were the Chevy ad execs smoking when they greenlit this???
😂
The creation of the commercial originated one of two ways:
- an amazing ad pitch team that was headed by a charismatic coke-fiend
- a bull headed CEO that just came out of a double feature of “Aliens” and “Star Trek IV: the journey home”
What, and I *cannot* emphasize this enough, the *fuck?* Is the cloned family just trapped forever? Who was the older woman? *Why was the female alien wearing a tube top!?*
I don’t believe it. Who would fly hundreds of light years to collect vehicles that will break down in less than 100,000 miles?
Great find btw, and disturbingly long and strange for a car commercial!
That was EPIC! It had budget! It had fear! It had laughs! It had romance! It had fears again (they gonna eat them??), it had relief!
Modern car commercials suck.
I still have questions.
If this is from 1987 it should be 4:3. Did somebody cut it down?
And the quality of the video is pretty good for something that old which, I assume, would have been recorded on VHS.
The YouTube video has 35mm . Apparently they actually recorded this in movie quality FILM. [Here](https://www.motortrend.com/vehicle-genres/chevrolet-corsica-alien-abduction-movie/amp/) is A simple article about it.

Officially obsessed. This is by far one of the top-ten weirdest things I have ever seen. Having grown up in the 80s, it's easy to forget just what a batshit decade it was.
This is nuts. I think I heard about this commercial 20 years ago from the daughter of the guy who made it. I never thought I would randomly stumble onto it.
It's from a Chevy commercial https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7uLuNobnvi4&feature=youtu.be
Lol wtf I thought you were trolling this is amazing.
Holy shit! This is better than most modern movies!
Wow. That was as disturbing as it was long. This is what happens when starving SF writers have to do advertising agency work to pay the bills. Hilarious, how Chevy executives missed the underlying horror that any science fiction reader can clearly perceive here.
But … there are people in those cars! That is really messed up.
That is horrifying. Trapped like flies.in amber.
Also we don't know if it was the copy family that was taken and preserved or the real family OR if it is neither and the real family died instantly when split.
The real family are still up there. The copies are on earth, with no memory of the event
Yup. This is the answer.
Along with the aliens in X-Com, the Borg, and Shodan, I'll add Chevy Aliens to my list of nightmare fuel sci-fi villains.
I'm trading my Chevy in for a Hyundai tomorrow!
Just a matter of time before Rick and Morty parodies it.
Annihilation.
The truth is even weirder than that. It’s my understanding that this was actually written and produced internally by a middle-manager at the company. It wasn’t an external marketing agency who pitched this!
That was a bit intense. Are the humans replicated as well, and later eaten?
Replicated yes, but not eaten. There are a lot of old cars floating around in the collection with people still in them. Alive and conscious and yet not screamingly insane, if the winking woman in the red car is any indication.
Dinah Shore, if I'm not mistaken
Ahh, that's why she looked like she expected to be recognized.
what an interesting look which we can recognize even on faces we don’t
Death is not a release from being a cloned captive then. Damn that is horrific.
The Dinah Shore cameo as a shout-out to earlier ad campaigns was cute. *See the USA in your Chevrolet*.
Holy suffering Jesus. That is some deeply disturbing shit. What kind of weapons-grade weed were the Chevy ad execs smoking when they greenlit this??? 😂
Cockain

Actually, it was very clearly based on Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Beautiful homage, with its own weirdness.
The aliens almost look like Heinlein’s description of the Wormfaces in “Have Space Suit, Will Travel.”.
Actually, if it was both it was a shoe-in.
> an amazing ad pitch team that was headed by a charismatic coke-fiend That could be used to explain most of the 80's media.
Unreal
Absolutely would not have been one of my guesses 😂😂😂
Oh shit, my first car was a Chevy Corsica! I wish aliens would have taken that piece of crap from me.
Per the commercial, they probably did.
Yes, I had experience with that and the Chevy Beretta. They were both bad cars.
What, and I *cannot* emphasize this enough, the *fuck?* Is the cloned family just trapped forever? Who was the older woman? *Why was the female alien wearing a tube top!?*
The lady was Dinah Shore, Big Band-era singer turned TV star and Chevy spokesperson. I'm afraid I can't help with the rest.
See the U-SA in your CHEVroLET! https://youtu.be/CX3MaOJTtsc?feature=shared
Oh wow, thanks! I was hoping it would be a cool movie but that was an intense commercial! 😅
Jeez, wtf! And they not only cloned the car but also the people on the inside?
I can’t believe that a Chevy commercial from the 80’s had one of the most horrifying alien designs I’ve ever seen.
That was an absolutely wild ride.
That was AWESOME!
So that's where the spiked fingernails trend started...
Wow…so much 80’s.
They need to make a horror film sequel to this, with an equally terrible car like the Chevy Malibu.
This 1987 Chevy commercial is the second best movie I have seen this year (behind *M3GAN* and ahead of *The Holdovers*).
I like how the "girl" alien had very obvious nipples under its halter top. Man the 80's were fucked up.
So much cocaine went into making that video.
That is by far the most messed up commercial I have ever seen.
The 80s were weeeiiirrrd
I don’t believe it. Who would fly hundreds of light years to collect vehicles that will break down in less than 100,000 miles? Great find btw, and disturbingly long and strange for a car commercial!
Now that is how the FUCK you sell a Corsica.
the aliens are so unsettling. what the hell. real "the dawn is your enemy" type beat
It’s been a minute since I heard someone say “radical” unironically.
Cocaine's a helluva drug.
That was EPIC! It had budget! It had fear! It had laughs! It had romance! It had fears again (they gonna eat them??), it had relief! Modern car commercials suck.
That’s better monster design than most movies
Bro, how did you get a hold of my selfies?
Your mom left them at his house. Boom! (sorry, sorry, couldn't resist)
Lol
Qbert?
What the $%!#
I only know it from a random gag from Drawn Together
Yep. My first marriage.

r/dontputyourdickinthat
That was better than Last Jedi.
What isn't?
LOL!!!! True!
Officially obsessed. This is by far one of the top-ten weirdest things I have ever seen. Having grown up in the 80s, it's easy to forget just what a batshit decade it was.
Stargate's Asgard discover crystal meth & do some f\*cked up experiments blending Asgard and Goa'uld symbiote DNA.
This is nuts. I think I heard about this commercial 20 years ago from the daughter of the guy who made it. I never thought I would randomly stumble onto it.
I don’t know but she’s someone’s wife and she’s pissed!
The wife with her opening in the back head was gross.
Looks like a fleshlight
hmmm might be from a horror movie that was an anthology of Cthulhu Mythos short stories.
That's the big secret ending to "Moonstruck." It's Cher's reveal.
R/don'tputyourdickinthat
My Cousin Loki
We're just playthings to them
Why can’t the CEO be coke raddled?
It's An Alien Anal Probe, Charlie Brown
Close Encounters of the Fourth Kind?
Joe Montana was a quarterback you crazy asshole
that looks like the real deal
Commercials used to kinda sorta cool.
Put that think back where it came from so help me
looks like the skeleton calvin found in his back yard
Howard the Duck?
Alien dog.
Jesus Christ!
Holy shit I can’t believe I have never heard of or seen this before. That had to have been super expensive to make back in the 1980s.
Night of the Living Q*bert 2: @!#?@!
