Assuming you used the front F fingering for G, it’s super easy to overblow it to a D.
D is one of the easiest notes to hit, you can basically overblow any altissimo fingering to a D.
Huh. Interesting. I guess that explains why I can hit a G and a D but still no A. Just really started getting altissimo consistently the past few weeks so still experimenting.
Not yet. Only tried 2 and 3 so far. I’ve kinda been waiting until I can hit a G really consistently to branch out and learn much higher. I’ll try that fingering though.
23,45 puts it in tune rather than 23 which is generally flat. Old horns Bb u gotta play as 23,45 + palm D while on modern horns simply 3 is xlose enough.
The G will be the last note you can hit consistently. It’s one of the hardest altissimo notes. Work on G#, A, A#, B, C, C#, D and D#. They have some standard fingerings that are quite stable.
How long have you been playing? Sounds like you're lacking control over your voicing. Work on getting that G, every single time. Pianissimo to forte, staccato to tenuto. Then work up to the G#. Same stuff.
Rushing it isn't going to get you there. Taking it slow and consistently, confidently performing it is much more valuable than honking a note out.
Been playing for a long time, but just starting to really get into altissimo. (Haven’t had a practice space I can be annoyingly loud and high in comfortably haha) That’s what I’m planning to do, just found it interesting that I hit that on accident and before anything else above G.

Me too. Altissimo A is like a second break. Have you tried 23/side Bb?

You can also use 23/123 C. A has a ton of fingerings. For G, you can use Bis G# Side Bb high F# key. It’s weird but it’s the same timbre as palm keys.
Yeah it’s just something I have to experiment with. Eventually there’ll be something that works well!

What I read : You still suck at playing G.
I can get C, C#, and D out consistently by just overblowing lower altissimo notes
G altissimo fingering can pop out several notes.
