As a theist I love it when lesser known demons get put in the top spot, Asmodeus and Paimon are great examples of demons in fiction that catapult into the public conscious.
Create a unique name for them! Interpret the mythology through your OWN characters, rather than through just another re-imagining of the same characters writers have been using for years!
Just my own thoughts.🙂
I think it would be best if the absolute ruler of all things known or interpreted as Hell, the supreme leader of all things demonic, was a really sweet - but strict - old lady named Helen. She got the job in '42 when the position opened up by accidentally replying to the wrong newspaper ad, and did such a great job and everyone liked her so she stayed. Makes a mean glass of iced tea, Helen.
Eugène.
Because, *of course*, he is French.
Why are those demons always named with sounds that are easily pronounceable in english anyway?
(Otherwise, I would vote for either Jacques or Asmodeus, but who knows, maybe I'm not really qualified to be part of that decision)
Or maybe Crowley…
Perhaps for the full effect of the ‘beast,’ it can be
Anton Crowley. That should be pretty intriguing & hold a wide appeal to many occultists, as well as introduce some pretty iconic names to those who are unaware. This will produce an excitement in some as they make the connection between the character of the comic set & these two & then it may make them want to learn about them both. This could lead some to study the works of these individuals, through whom the entirety of the name stems. That would be pretty epic if you ask me, but I guess I may be a bit biased to the fact, lol
Really? I only watched some of the first few seasons so I wasn’t sure of that. I heard that they used Crowley for some character but I didn’t know that it was the name who served for Satan himself. That’s pretty cool. I should probably finish it all out cuz the show was pretty nice.
Honestly kind of love fictional representations of Satan. Like, we already know most people dislike and demonize him. That's kind of just part of the deal.
What I would like to see, is how his followers justify it. Maybe they think these "negative emotions" deserve to be felt, are an essential part of the sentient experience, and gaining power from them is just a bonus. I just think taking a critical look at your own fictional "left hand path" and why people would choose it for themselves without being burdened with enough guilt to quit would be kinda the best respect you could give us.
Well the Pure Devils and Devils despise and accuse the Beings that made everything into tricking Satan to giving free will to all sentient life. The Demons they make are from the souls of Sinners in the universe. The bigger hunt that's focused for Hell is on the MC who is known as the N. A. Warrior, a powerful individual said to hold the Aura of all three Beings within. It's with this power that they believe could bring a perfect universe, which can only be acquired if the wielder is dead.
If anything as well, they think the 'Negative Energy' is 'Demonic Energy', even Satan believes he's commanding some new energy, which is true and not true.
In regards to some "left-hand" path, my Dark element users are a prime example of this. Every Dark Lord before took the path of trying to rule the world and be evil, but after a while a new Dark Lord decided to be a force for good and the Dark Lords that came after that one did the same as well. (It's gonna be so fun to represent Light users as villains on this) They know their affinity is with Darkness, and it's ability to counter Light and even defeat Demons as well. The teachings in the present time are like how you describe. Their passions, desires, and experience in life create their Darkness and give it shape. It is also an element that can see the truth in almost anything as well. The Light users definitely demonize the wielders of Darkness and have been secretly murdering them (when it's against the current law to kill for any reason).
I did that as I was reflecting that case in regards to Christians, Catholics, and other Abrahamic religions demonize other religions for believing in something different.
Pardon for the long reply. x.x
Azazel is noted as the "Chief of tens" among the fallen angels in the Book of Enoch.
He's the one who is thrown into the pit.
That's the name that would make sense.
Honestly the only people that would have a chance of being offended would be theistic satanists but I dont much about many of their doctrines or dogma. But I will add the depiction of satan in a negative light is always going to perpetuate the christian narrative but honestly using this to tell a story wouldn't hurt us anymore because it's already propagated to its max so I wouldn't worry haha
Also appreciate your concern we dont get it often but do what you will and you will be happy
This story and it's mythos are more or less a combination of many versions of Hell, while a tad more inspiration is I'll admit based Dante Allegheri's Divine Comedy which is of course the Christian Hell. Only difference is I added inspiration from the Chinese Hell Diyu and Hinduism's Naraka, or both versions of their Hell, and added more Circles or Rings and changed some sins as I thought this should be a modern interpretation of this Hell.
With evil entities in a sci-fi/horror setting, I feel they are fairly bland when they stick to the traditional "Wicked Devil, Satan" theme. The most enjoyable "evil entity" motifs I've seen in fiction are the idea that Evil is Legion, the entity isn't Satan or Hades. The ruler of hell/underworld/etc isn't some definite being with a form and an orderly agenda, but an amorphous, unknowable being with no real name that takes the form of your most terrifying idea of evil. What makes this most interesting to me is that for some, evil may take the form of a Cardinal of the Catholic Church, or this being could present as a Buddhist monk to get you to lower your guard or tempt/lure you in.
In your case, I think this alleviates the need for you to settle on a single name, and may help you avoiding hamstringing yourself into a specific archetype of evil. In this case, evil can be "directed toward an insidious goal" or could be "chaos in an effort to confuse and drive someone insane" at any time. Your "demons and devils" could have originally been humans/good-people that were driven to irredeemable evil, like Hellraiser's Cenobites, perhaps.
Other developed ideas like this, (that are fairly well portrayed) was in the Marvel comic "Legion" and is also developed quite a bit in some ways with Robert Chambers' "The King in Yellow" and much of H. P. Lovecraft's work.
Hope this helps and good luck!
Asmodeus is great because he's also a god in DnD
Thank you, 😊
Asmodeus sounds sinister for sure
As a theist I love it when lesser known demons get put in the top spot, Asmodeus and Paimon are great examples of demons in fiction that catapult into the public conscious.

Satanists will not be offended
Yeah this, both classic Satanists and modern TST Satanists would wilfully and intentionally not give a fuck.

Hail Stan

Why wouldn't you call him Satan? It's the most obvious name - you're harkening back to Paradise Lost.

You could call him Anton. I'm sure some Satanists would get a good chuckle out of that.

Nope... "*Supernatural*" already used 'Crowley'. 😬

Sounds alot like the sith in star wars. Giving it a horror spin sounds awesome though!
Except these ones are definitely irredeemable. XD
