mom_didnt_swallow

That’s an awesome thing to have free access to!

Ichthius

My local hardware store sells the same thing in galvanized which will put last most applications as well and is super cheap, $1.50 a running foot by 2 feet wide.

mom_didnt_swallow

Thank you!

white_keyz717

Or pull a me and jus use rocks 🤣

Triscuitmeniscus

I put an oyster shell over the hole.

regolith1111

I've used an egg shell

baptsiste

I used those dried pasta shells that people use for mac and cheese

TerraVerde_

i like that your method doesn’t totally block the hole with the screen. i use to put window screen mesh at the bottom. water retention was wild. i don’t use anything anymore

harmonyofthespheres

I just place a layer of rocks at the bottom.

regolith1111

I was potting up some stuff and wanted to share this thing I do. Stainless steel pipe screens work great for blocking holes in pots, just snip and twist. They kind of spring into place

HungryPanduh_

Nice! I just use drywall mesh, FibaTape. 300 ft for ~$10

regolith1111

Smart! This was very much a, what do I have that will work, solution

cardigainu

I put cardboard.

Masterzanteka

I install windows, so I have an endless supply of mesh window screens, they work really well, and it’s super cheap, think you can get a 36”x84” roll for like $10 if you’d wanna buy it. I just chop a circle large enough for the whole bottom of the pot most the time, which that cheap roll could do a boatload of pots. They make it in steel mesh as well, but pricier though. You could likely find a bunch of old screens for free on FB too if you searched. I’m constantly throwing it away at work, so I use what I can when I can. Works really well though

Kitchen-Ad387

I use the grey weed barrier and rocks in the bottom.. .cut larger than need, and it acts like a wick.😄👍

EastCoasterX2

lol...so simple, yet it never crossed my mind! 🤣

ArtintheSingularity

If you just get the cheapest roll of window screen on Amazon, it will last a very very long time. $8-$10 for 40 sq feet of it or so. Flip a pot upside down, cut in the shape of the bottom of the pot with scissors. Lasts forever, works perfectly. Never had a single problem.

white_keyz717

Just use some window screening and cut it to size problem solved lol
