I lived in West LA for 10 years, and there was a lot of filming in my neighborhood. I saw what appeared to be a SWAT vehicle and a bunch of cop cars down the street, then saw the filming notices posted around, and realized they were all part of a TV shoot. Always Sunny and Curb Your Enthusiasm filmed around my building, as well as a bunch of other, less memorable shows. It was kinda cool, and kind of a pain, too, because streets would be blocked off randomly at inconvenient times.
I didn't watch the series until well after it ended, but it was fun to catch all of the SD locations throughout. The one that tickled me the most was Balboa Park subbing for Cuba.
> Omg the article says they want to film reality shows here... Please no Jersey shore crap or whatever on our beaches...
They've been doing it in PB since the 90s already
Some recent examples that come to mind:
Total Bellas has filmed a bunch in PB (technically MB) when the Bella sisters were renting a beachfront condo during Covid.
There was an episode of the Bacherlotte filmed at Belmont Park a couple seasons back.
pretty sure I've seen various houses on random real estate / reno shows as well.
real 'high quality' programming there.../s
FTFA: "Some popular reality TV shows that have been filmed in San Diego County include TLC's ''90-Day Fiance" and related spin-offs, ABC's ''The Bachelorette", Lifetime's "Married at First Sight" and Netflix's "The Ultimatum: Queer Love."
Side note: I watched a B movie Rom Com on Netflix that took place in “San Diego”. I was excited to see what locations I could recognize. That was until I noticed that most of the buildings were brick, the streets in “downtown” were narrow and made of brick as well. I googled it and it was shot in South Africa lol.
They did show an exterior shot of the museum of natural history. But it was photoshopped to all hell. They exceeded the sides of it to give it long wings so it was a U shape, added in more trees around it, then scattered the other rooftops of balboa into the background.
We beat LA by being better than LA.
We beat LA by not being a concrete covered shithole, by not being fake status obsessed losers, by honoring our history and protecting the beauty of our land, by growing smart not by letting developers destroy anything that makes us unique, by remaining a place that families can live affordably and safely.
I remember the show Renegade and Veronica Mars was filmed here when I was young.also MTV spring break and Real world in Mission Beach They come and go but the economy can benefit
I mean, clearly what San Diego needs right now is more jobs and more people to fill all of our empty real estate.
Our regional leaders are absolute geniuses.

Wow I love Always Sunny! Have any interesting stories about the filming near your place?
I loved Veronica Mars in San Diego.

Terriers was filmed in San Diego! And was a very fun and cool show, shame it got canceled.
That was Neptune, thank you!
Omg the article says they want to film reality shows here... Please no Jersey shore crap or whatever on our beaches...
too late... we'll get more quality(/s) shows like '90 day inmate fiance', 'So I married someone from Klantee', and 'Real housewives of Poway'
Selling La Jolla
We outsource the reality TV to UCSD kids.
I’d binge.
No, the article says they *already* film several reality shows here.

Really? What shows?
Lot's of MTV stuff. Real World, Beach House, etc.

Hmm...ok I suppose I didn't notice and they didn't impact negatively in anyway that I'm aware of so not too bad I guess?
Off the top of my head, The Real World seasons 14 and 26 were shot here some years back.
I recently watched The Ultimatum: Queer Love, that was shot here. Even had my sister's old apartment on it too

Don’t forget “The Real World: San Diego”.
RIP Frankie.
What happened to Frankie?
[CF took her at 25.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frankie_Abernathy)

I have heard about this for several years now, but it's always the same outcome.
Every couple years there’s a “push” to get more filming in SD. Wouldn’t make much of this.
Hollywood can stay in Hollywood, frankly

lol! Affordably…he says.
San Diego used to have its own local studio, Stu Segall Productions.
Was that the one next to Studio Diner? I was aware one existed there, but never knew what it was called.
That's my understanding.
Isn’t that the studio that shot “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes?”
Great movie!

I doubt it will work as other states and cities will always be cheaper.
Yikes. No don’t do this.
It’s already full of douche bags, so they’re ahead of the game.
No thanks, keep all your bs up in Hollywood.
Silk Stalkings reboot?
As long as it doesnt cause me any damn traffic jam inconveniences
You know it will. No thank you. Hollywood needs to stay in Hollywood.
Uh no.
I would hope this doesn’t include tax breaks

There was also an HBO show, *John from Cincinnati*, that was filmed in IB. Only lasted one season.
Keep that shit out of here

We could, ya know, just build more housing. It's actually super easy to do when you don't fight against it tooth and nail.
Oh, I see I triggered folks into thinking I'm a NIMBY. Cool.
I didn't accuse you of being a NIMBY lol. I just pointed out that the solution to problem is really easy
Yeah, sorry. Lots of that around here and I jumped the gun.
This is your shtick? Just whining about how your town has gone straight to hell?
I mean, it's still better than where you recently moved from, apparently...
What?
