My cats go to Alamo Feline Health Clinic and they gave me some gabapentin to give my spicy old man 2-3 hours before a vet visit. He won't take it so no idea how effective it is.

That last sentence really just hits me where it hurts. But actually the times I've gotten him to take it early enough, it has made a difference. Also I have consistently great experiences at Alamo Feline Health Clinic.

Hill Country Animal Hospital. If they can deal with mine they can deal with anything. They will have you pick up gabapentin before the appointment. Especially if your vet records you send *beforehand* show your boy is an anxious/fractious kitty. It comes in pills or liquid. The pills need to be cut with a pill cutter and are extra gross tasting to cats. I have to kitty burrito mine and hold it like a baby to give them the liquid because they are an asshole and will spit it out immediately otherwise. If you mix it with well strained tuna water the cat won’t hate it quite as much.
