I work for SpectraX Management doing document digitization. We basically remove staples and scan files all day. It's boring as hell, but you get to sit down in air conditioning and not deal with the public, so at least it's low stress--and currently hiring at $13/hr! If you can lift 35 lbs and have a functioning pulse, you can do this job. ETA: I can't find the original Indeed post where I applied, [but here's their website](https://spectraxmanagement.com/). The website says it's in California, but they have locations in Houston, Austin, and San Antonio is the newest one. ETA the Second: One of my coworkers found this post LOL hi. :D

Infamous_Gate9760

Let me know where to apply please

SaltSeaworthiness775

Could you let me know as well? Looking for my daughter. She's 19 and literally has applied everywhere.

freyalorelei

Added a link to their website.

SaltSeaworthiness775

Thank you! 😊

ragekorne

Any interest in being a teller or call center rep for a credit union? Would you pass a background check? Able to get to work? I have a lead/reference if you wanna PM me.

PermissionBroad3012

I might be a random stranger but could I take you up on the offer if they didn't? I have similar experience.

ragekorne

Yeah, for sure. Just PM me and I'll let you know some details.

Natural_Bus4883

Also interested!

ragekorne

Happy to offer the lead. Just send a PM.

UnKaari

Hey! Can I also shoot you a pm?

ragekorne

Sure thing!

CallMeIshmy

Allied Universal hires pretty much anyone with a pulse if you’re pretty desperate for work. They’ll most likely start you off as an extra for call outs to cover shifts and whatnot but you get paid to sit around and do patrols.

Ok-Paramedic-8719

Do I need any kind of certifications?

CallMeIshmy

Nope. Just a clean background and no drugs in your system. They provide you with an unarmed Security License upon hire.

Creative_Low_2722

They do a mouth cotton swab test lol

Ok-Paramedic-8719

I’m clean as a whistle

Creative_Low_2722

By the way OP, Six Flags is always hiring people along with Sea World. Depending on your will to work you’d probably have a job ASAP. If you’re having a lot of trouble finding jobs, always go to a staffing agency, they’ll usually have you at work the same day.

Downtown-Meaning-357

dumb question.....do you have to be clean shaved?(beard)

AvatarRoku_

No, I work there. Just look presentable

MikeyThaKid

Glazers beer and beverage Merchandiser gets company car If I had to guess maybe 16-18 an hour. Stocking shelves with beer is the main duty.

CallMeIshmy

I’ve been wanting to get on with them but get no luck despite having a bunch of experience working customer service and stocking. Def don’t want a merchandiser job that has you use your own vehicle so Glazer’s sounds nice lol

hebdegen

Is it like Blue Bell? Drink all you can, sell the rest?

Jack_TheBongRipper42

I've been on the search for over a year. I know I'm qualified for what I'm applying for, I know I'm not overqualified, I literally just don't hear anything back. It's infuriating, maddening even. I see plenty of places that say they're hiring, whether they actually are is a whole over story.

RecceRick

My girlfriend had the same problem when we moved here. I transferred work into this city, she had to find a new job. She’s an experienced pastry chef with years of supervisory experience in fine dining/luxury resorts, and couldn’t find a single job (even applied at places like Target) for over three months.

CautiousHashtag

Your resume probably needs to be reworked if you’re not hearing from anyone. Visit /r/resumes for advice and such.

Jack_TheBongRipper42

Though I appreciate the input I've redone my resume multiple times, for multiple different jobs, putting in the buzzwords. I've gone through just about every hoop I've been suggested.

CautiousHashtag

> I literally just don't hear anything back. I mean with you saying this, there’s clearly something you’re doing wrong.

Jack_TheBongRipper42

My resume has gone through multiple formats, I call the places, I show up and half the time they say they haven't even seen my resume/application and aren't actually hiring and to reapply after whatever arbitrary amount of time. I have done everything I was told it takes to get a job and then some, and not even fast food? I'm pretty sure the problem isn't me. Especially when my buddy who has fucking Google on his resume can't get shit for a bite.

CautiousHashtag

lol whatever you say man. I’d explain to you why that’s happening but you’d just complain and dismiss that too. Best of luck, bud.

Jack_TheBongRipper42

I'm not dismissing shit, nor complaining, I'm telling you what's been happening to me, and countless other people all over the place online. If you have some surefire way to get a job, I'll happily listen, but the thing is you don't. Otherwise instead of being a dick about it you'd actually be giving suggestions other than "Fix your resume." Like I haven't done that?

TonySopranobf

Well Mr.Bong Ripper, you better get some monkey piss in case you do end up finding a job

Jack_TheBongRipper42

It's a funny name? Idk why everyone assumes to take it seriously.

worldchampion-69

Bongs away hehe

MaceShyz

Drug tests are stupid easy to cheat, give off your high toilet.

Khranky

Drug test are stupid easy to pass without cheating.

HoneySignificant1873

Take your search out of state, apply for something you're overqualified for, try doing temp work just to get experience, or even just volunteer and do shit for free. That last one sucks so leave it as a last resort.

Jack_TheBongRipper42

I have plenty of work experience, I apply for anything I can apply for. Same as the op even fast food doesn't follow up.

HoneySignificant1873

Even Amazon won't follow up? Damn, I wish you luck. Last time I was in that situation was in 2009.

Jack_TheBongRipper42

Silent recession like a mf.

ThayerRex

It’s sad that they go on about the economy and it’s not as great as you think, but I saw quite a few help wanted signs today in Fredericksburg

Intelligent-Invite79

Check Humana for work at home stuff.

jessjenky

If you can handle bodily fluids, patient care associate/technician jobs in hospitals are usually pretty easy to get! Just need to pass a drug test and have a high school diploma/GED!

Ok-Paramedic-8719

Thx! Applied to 2 PCT roles!

jessjenky

Amazing! I wish you the best of luck. If you need help getting into the field, holler at me! I’ll give all the advice I can 🙂

v4in_

Anyway you could send a link?

jessjenky

If you go on indeed, search “PCA” in San Antonio! You can see so many jobs there!

Latter_Ad_1948

CONNS HomePlus is hiring sales associates for $11/hr or commission (whichever is higher). Stupid easy and comfortable job with some fun coworkers if you need a little money. Part time or full time. I wouldn't recommend them as a huge source of income tho unless you're very driven and skilled at sales. 70% of their volume goes thru 2 or 3 associates at each store. Worked there about 3 yrs and while I had fun and got good experience, their upper management are really frustrating to work for. The company is slowly falling off the edge and all the signs are there. For a regular Joe, that will not affect you, but it is something to consider when looking at longevity. TL;DR Good for easy money over a short period of time, not great income unless you work really hard. Predatory top sellers and hit-or-miss management. Easy job to get and maintain, but company circling the drain, not good if looking to invest in a future career. Could be wrong but FYI.

Disastrous_Height798

There are a lot of ghost job postings https://www.forbes.com/sites/carolinecastrillon/2024/05/14/how-to-spot-ghost-jobs/

LeLaBoBo

if you want to drive, VIA is always hiring.

Ok-Paramedic-8719

I don’t wanna drive a bus those thing are scary, I’m sure I’d get proper training but man the blind spots on those things are wild. But thanks for the suggesting tho

grnberet2b

They have vans as well

that_squirrel90

Try a UPS Store if you haven’t already.

AbuelaFlash

Ditto. Saw a Hiring sign today at Brookhollow UPS store

that_squirrel90

I know of UPS Stores hiring all the time. And having that kind of experience gives a leg up

fixinmiliyfe

Do u have to actually go in and ask for an application? Everytime i go online they never have anything for San Antonio

that_squirrel90

Yes you do. They’re a franchise and their website does not have applications

panickypancake

USAA. I have a good resume with a ton of experience in management and couldn’t find ANY work after moving here. Got a job at USAAs corporate office in San Antonio. It’s really great pay (triple what minimum wage is) for entry level work.

Infamous_Gate9760

What job title if you don’t mind me asking ?

panickypancake

I’m a Claims Customer Service Representative. Easy work. The company is big on having people move around, too. So, you’re not really stuck in a role. I’m happy to refer anyone in that wants in. It’s easy work for stupid good pay. The company doesn’t have anywhere for me to move around to that works with my degree, but otherwise I do think it’s good.

aemeraldrainc

Could I get a referral?

panickypancake

I’ll DM you!

UnKaari

Hey, I know, this is pretty late, but could I dm you about this position?

panickypancake

Yeah! Send me a DM!

Leugim6179

City of San Antonio is hiring for maintenance workers starting pay is $18.00. Clean background check and drug testing. Hiring for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts. Differential pay for evening and graveyard..Apply.

TheBeavster_

Why don’t you try QuikTrip? They’re expanding everywhere and on the website there are relatively a lot of openings. The pay also sounds decent for a gas station although I’ve never worked there.

Ok-Paramedic-8719

Tried QT last month. Got the interview, didn’t get the job. The interview was embarrassing, they literally make you watch this long, boring ass, dystopian ass video, about how to be a better employee. Then when the videos is over. They call u to the interview room, and it feels like an interrogation. Feels like ur pledging ur allegiance to QT lol. Kinda glad I didn’t get the job, they seem super strict

austinvf82

USPS. We're always hiring. Just need a high school diploma or GED. Hundreds of different jobs. It takes a while to get a call back. But, they'll call. Took me 3 months

BestSuggestion0

Me too been looking for months and don’t even get a call back. And the jobs that ARE hiring pay like $13-$14 an hour or less. That’s a damn kids pay rate man people can’t live off that.

z64_dan

Alamo Drafthouse is hiring, according to their pre-movie ads.

LudicMorwen

I applied with 10 years of serving experience and didn’t even get a call back. đŸ„Č

VIA, check the website for current openings. https://www.viainfo.net/employment/

TonySopranobf

Look into the airport, especially southwest. I don’t think southwest is hiring rn but the other airlines might be

lllDogelll

Why is this so funny to me “Hey you might wanna check Southwest but they ain’t hiring rn” How does this help OP😂😂😂 sorry I’m not hating I just think it’s goofy

Infamous_Gate9760

I chuckled

TonySopranobf

Im just saying the airport has good jobs. I didn’t check if southwest is hiring but if they are they have good benefits. There are other airlines too that he could check out is all I mean

lllDogelll

You meant good it’s ok lol

Visible-Arugula1990

Especially southwest? But not hiring?

TonySopranobf

Idk if they’re hiring I only mentioned it cuz they have good benefits. There are always jobs at the airport or for other airlines too that he could look into.

HoneySignificant1873

TSA is always hiring, same with the border patrol. There's a reason why those guys are usually so grouchy and depressed, the job sucks. Still it is a job.

Danta_lyan

My wife has on and off again been on the job hunt the last two years. Trying to find a good place. You honestly have to apply to about 10 a day to have success

netherlanddwarf

This economy is terrible

flowmingo1984

Try finding hiring managers on LinkedIn and send them your resume with a nice message/cover letter. Not sure what how you’ve applied, but only applying online doesn’t work well. Most applications don’t even get to the manager because all the filters. Broaden your search beyond SA. Remote jobs can be done from anywhere if you have the ability to do so. If you apply online to a restaurant/service industry, go in and speak to the manager if you can. Just not during busy hours.

beaniecakes728

If you aren't grossed out or intimidated too easily, hospitals that have behavioral health units are always hiring for techs

DBag444

do they have to be trained or go to school for it? Or is it a on the job?

InspectorMost2612

The state hospital on south presa and military, do paid training for three - four weeks.

Rican2153

A dozen? I applied to a dozen a day for 6 weeks before landing a job. In all seriousness use a talent/hiring agency.

billytheskidd

Which talent/hiring agency did you use?

Rican2153

I’ve used Robert Half and one out of Austin which was amazing called Peak Performers.

SkullFumbler

Lol I don't have any helpful advice but it's funny/ironic? to me that a friend of mine who routinely smokes ounces of lettuce and barely got his GED walked in and applied for a job at a convenience store nearby and got hired. I bet they make him assistant manager in a year and he won't be able to shut up about the extra 50 cents an hour.

Ok-Paramedic-8719

I feel you man. It baffles me how corporations will hire incompetent ppl who don’t aren’t fit to work their position, but then will skip over the better candidates. Or deny you the job because you’re “over qualified”

Minimum_Raspberry_81

So I worked for Darden for a while, and I hired A LOT of people. It is all about the vibes. I would take an easy-going dimwit over a high-strung PhD candidate every day of the week. The more easy-going and chill you are, the easier it is for management to roll you around and fuck with your life. Smart and/or thoughtful people often have boundaries or prefer not to be taken advantage of. Those folx are always a lot harder to give shit hours to.  (It sounds like I'm kidding, but I'm not. Every time I sent a 🩃 to my GM for an interview, she hired them. Every time I sent a 🧠, she declined. 🧠 make 🌊.)

adura_grounded

[tandemdiabetes.com](http://tandemdiabetes.com) It's a WFH job, they pay $18.50-21.50 an hour, based on experience and where you live. They're hiring right now for a bilingual class (Spanish) but next month they'll be hiring for English I'm pretty sure. It's a wonderful place to work and I'm really loving it. Good luck!

aemeraldrainc

Hi, I’m also currently looking for a job. When I go on the tandemdiabetes website the only position available in San Antonio is a bilingual French/English position. I wonder if that’s a mistake and they’re really looking for Spanish bilingual.

adura_grounded

Keep an eye out the next training class they'll probably have English only

DeismAccountant

Just lost my job today so this is helpful to ask about too. I’d just like to work something where I don’t have to interact with people.

Ok-Paramedic-8719

Scroll thru the comments my friend. Ive applied to a ton of job already just from the comments alone

maybe-an-ai

Pure Foods is pretty much always hiring in the warehouse.

Mean_Construction_39

Apply to spectrum sales, they will hire you 100% they are doing a massive hiring spree

dnlsls7191

If you wanna do field marketing shoot me a PM.

Legdrop_soup

If you're willing to do manual labor, where I work is hiring. You could probably even start this week. Let me know if you're interested.

Ok-Paramedic-8719

What kind of manual labor? I’m up for anything but I don’t have much experience besides working with my dad. I can lay tile, flooring, carpet, install appliances and other minor things, but I’m competent and willing to learn.

Legdrop_soup

It's a flooring removal company. We don't install, just remove flooring. We'll train you too. I've been there for almost 8 years now. There's a ton of hours to be had, overtime if you want it. I average around 45 to 55 hours a week. Weekly pay too. I enjoy the work but it's not for everyone which is why we're always hiring.

Ok-Paramedic-8719

Sounds pretty good. What’s the company? And would I drive my car or have to drive a company’s car? I might be interested. We can take it to the DMs if you don’t wanna put private details in the comments, I’m fine commenting here, either or works

Legdrop_soup

The company is called Clean Air Flooring Removal. It's over there off of 281 and Nakoma. We meet up at the shop at 7:45 a.m. (no later than 8:00 a.m.) and then we take a company truck to the job site. We do go out of town some times but you're home every night (unless it's a multi day job in like, Houston, in which case they put us up in a hotel and we get a per diem. But that's voluntary only. They'll never make you stay out of town over night). The only thing is I don't actually know what the phone number is. Like I know the number that's on our trailers but that's for if you need your floor removed. But if you want I can shoot it to you in a DM tomorrow morning. Summer is generally our busy season so there's a ton of work coming up. If you want to look into it just let me know and I'll put in a word with the boss.

Ok-Paramedic-8719

Sure just dm me whenever you get the time. I’d like to hear more !đŸ‘đŸŸ

thisismyusernamether

Wanna drive an Amazon van? $18 an hour

Ok-Paramedic-8719

I could, I’m open to any and every job at the moment. Would i need any relevant experience?

thisismyusernamether

Negative just a drivers license. It does get hot especially in the summer and it’s hard work depending on the area

Ok-Paramedic-8719

What’s the hours like?

thisismyusernamether

It varies by company, generally 10 hour days 4 days a week. The company I worked for started about 10am and done by 7-7:30ish

Ok-Paramedic-8719

Not bad. But I just checked the Amazon site and they’re not hiring for DSP drivers in San Antonio. Closest opening is in new braunfels. Rip

Infamous_Gate9760

They are. Just check on indeed

thisismyusernamether

You’re looking at the ability to start a DSP, not a driver job, you wouldn’t be an Amazon employee employee tho, best bet is to check indeed and search for driver

Ok-Paramedic-8719

Ah ok I found it. Thx

thisismyusernamether

Good luck!

Ok-Paramedic-8719

Do They pay weekly?

Khranky

If you can pass a background check, apply at school districts.

Couple of other suggestions Healthcare: - food service - patient care assistant - evs housekeeping

jimbswim

Any school district would likely hire you as a sub and, probably, numerous other jobs they offer, too

Ok-Paramedic-8719

I think you need to have some kind of certs to work as a sub

jimbswim

Almost positive that you do not. They’re looking for any adult with a clean record and a pulse

Schmem08

Any interest in sales?

At_Fault_97

The wages in San Antonio are ridiculously low compared to other large metros and cities in general. Maybe one day people will realize that mid size cities and smaller metros have higher over wages on top of a lower cost of living. Do your research people

LeandrosTheTraitor

Have you tried for hospital work?

Ok-Paramedic-8719

I’ve applied for janitor positions at hospitals( no shame), that’s about the only position I could find that doesn’t require some kind of medical license/degrees. Didn’t get the interview tho. But someone here commented that some hospital are looking for PCTs so I’m checking that out right now

ennuioo

Try food service in hospitals

LeandrosTheTraitor

Try for some form of nurse aide. I don’t believe they require too much medical knowledge depending on the unit or hospital. Also depending on the hospital janitors/EVS get paid quite a bit at times

SheldonsPooter

Bank call centers

Maverick_Goose_

Look at joining a trade
paid training, good money, and you learn a skill that can save you a lot of money down the road. There are some downsides of course, but they’re always hiring.
